Obama Allegedly Storms Out of Budget Negotiations with Republican Lawmakers

President Obama abruptly left debt negotiations with congressional leaders Wednesday, according to White House officials.

According to The Los Angeles Times, the meeting began to go awry when House Majority Leader Eric Cantor told the president that, “Congress should instead consider a series of debt ceiling votes based on spending cuts that already have been identified. Talks could then continue to identify additional cuts for subsequent votes.”

“I suggested we were so far apart I didn’t see in the time before us how we get to where he wants us to be,” Cantor told reporters after the meeting.

Obama, in his typical affable and diplomatic manner, warned Cantor not to set such an ultimatum and threatened to veto any legislation that would extend the debt ceiling only for a short period.

“The president told me, ‘Eric, don’t call my bluff. I’m going to take this to the American people,’” Cantor said.

Aides, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described it as the most heated meeting they’ve experienced in the months of discussions, with the president at one point accusing both sides of posturing.

Obama Allegedly Storms Out of Budget Negotiations with Republican Lawmakers

“This process is confirming what the American people think is the worst about Washington: that everyone is more interested in posturing, political position and protecting their base than solving real problems,” Obama said.

Of course, this is coming from the man who warned Tuesday that failure to raise the debt ceiling could mean that Social Security checks, veterans benefits and other government obligations would not be paid as scheduled in August. If anyone knows anything about posturing, surely it is Obama.

The president “was most insistent that he wanted the debt limit extended into 2013, because he believes a repeat of what we’re going through now, when things will be politically more tense, would be very destabilizing,” another aide said.

The meeting was effectively ended after a top Republican accused the White House of playing politcal games in order to entice “Yes” votes on extending the debt ceiling.

In an effort to circle the wagons, Democratic officials deny reports that Obama had “walked out” of the meeting. “Left abruptly is perfectly fair,” one official said. “But the meeting was over — in no sense did he walk out on it.”

We can only assume that he asked to be excused, that is, after he had finished eating his peas.

Well, first of all, Canter is the de facto Speaker of the House, since his party has come to regard him as more able than Boehner, so he has an equal burden of maturity. And secondly, letting your opposition bluff you into giving them everything they want and getting nothing in return, isn’t acting like a President.

I‘ll assume you don’t work for a living either. ‘Last job I had was with a “large” “small” business, family owned, dealt in multimillion dollar contracts with dozens of multimillion dollar machines,1700 people … with all that money, people, equipment … he ran on a 02% margin … you raise his taxes by 02%, and he has no reason to stay in business. So Bush added 4.9 Trillion in 8 years and Obama now stands at 3.6 Trillion in less than 3 years and Obama wonders why the people are behind the Republicans on this matter.

They need to stop giving all our money away to other countries that are in better financial shape than we are. And since this country is at the bottom of the list as far as financial health, that means we need to stop giving to all the others.

Yet, Cantor walked out of nonproductive meetings with Dems on the Hill, while Obama walked out of a White House meeting he himself had called. Cantor is the House Majority Leader, who has already put forth a budget proposal with specifics. Obama is, unfortunately (at least until 2012), the President, who has not put forth anything with specifics. I think it’s becoming more clear all the time to most voters who is failing to lead here.

“He does not seem to understand this has nothing to do with “raising taxes” on anyone.”

Of course it does. Ending tax cuts for the richest Americans would cut a big chunk out of the deficit, with less pain to fewer people than agreeing to all of the spending cuts that the Republicans are demanding, and we would see an actual reduction sooner because it could go into effect soon I’m not saying the President is entirely right or that Republicans are entirely wrong, I’m just saying that Republicans have not shown any more maturity or realism than he has. Also, I’m mad at both sides for not having the guts to put the military budget on the table.

Rather than dazzling us with brilliance by balancing our national checkbook, they think it’s funny to baffle us with BS and continue running up insurmountable debt. Don’t allow this!

So sick of Obama whining like the little crybaby that he is. Got his a$$ kicked in the 2010 midterms, and now paying the price. If I may quote a favorite liberal saying: We won. Get over it.

He wants to continue to steal from the taxpayers with absolute impunity and the GOP house won’t let him. He even had the incredibly bad taste and bad behavior to threaten the American people with the delay or non-payment of their Social Security checks. Imagine that! THEY loot the funds for pet pork projects-and worse-then blame it on us! F-them! They broke the economy, they can fix it. The time for unlimited pork is over.

Obama really has no class and no manners. What a pig! He embarassed us when he was jetting around Europe, hiding out from Netanyahu and pouting after that debacle. Now this.

Obama is a total crook, liar, dictator, coward and crybaby. Why is congress so afraid of him? What’s he gonna do? Call them racists?

He‘s like the kid who doesn’t want to take out the trash. If he doesn’t get his license to steal some more, he’s gonna pout until he gets his way. I imagine if they don’t get an agreement, he can just make a “Royal Decree” by executive order and push his budget that way, short-circuiting congress and breaking the law. He does it all the time. They’ve never stopped him yet…

To all of the brain-dead morons out there who STILL think that Obama is a good president:

I don’t think “compromise” is in his limited vocabulary. (That word probably never appeared on his teleprompter, so he doesn’t know it). But really–he is absolutely inflexible–wants his widdle way, or else. He tries to give the appearance that he is “trying to work with” GOPs in Congress, but they just won’t cooperate . . .

He never HAD to compromise–has been given his way and a pass on all his misdeeds his entire worthless life, so he doesn’t know HOW to compromise–just one of a LONG list of things he doesn’t know how to do. He obviously doesn’t know how to be POTUS, either. I am sooooo sick of this incompetent clown and his antics . . . .

This man just might let this thing fall through the floor! He is taking this country to the brink and although he may be bluffing, he could inadvertantly cause a collapse without really meaning to do so…or not! I have said many times here on the blaze that I believe strongly with every fiber of my being that this president is not going anywhere and he will do whatever it takes to stay in power. One term is not something he can live with and would be a deathnell to the multi-culture he so embodies. His not being re-elected would be seen as a racist act and a huge failure which will cause riots in the streets on massive scale. Nothing anybody could say to calm the masses should he fail this way, thats why it will not happen. He’ll stay on his terms and if that means collapsing the econ so he can remain at the helm under martial law…so be it.

I think he started collapsing the conomy from day one. This has been his intention from the beginning. He doesn’t think we are a great country. He wants to put us on a par with other countries and take our hard earned money and give it to individuals who do not want to work and even give it to other countries. He’s given Brazil a license to drill in the gulf. We will be their best customer, he said. Therefore, rather than having people in our country drill for oil (he refuses to give anyone a license to drill) Brazil will be getting our money. This is his great redistribution of wealth that he loves. The hell with jobs here. That’s a crock. In the end I believe the man is a Socialist.

I hope the Republicans stick to their guns regarding raising the debt limit. We are not going to default on our bills. There are billions of dollars coming from taxes. All we have to do is pay our bills and not pay for the all the needless Gov’t programs. The Gov’t is full of them.

Thanks for the insight, never thought about what would happen when he fails to get elected. I am hoping to get enough citizens organized to write or go to Washington and let Congress know that this Country can not sustain any more debt. I am one of the seniors having to live on SS and it is just a small amount per/month and have not received a cola in two years and our Medicare has increased and will continue to increase until there is nothing left. Every Citizen should think about their future and be willing to stand up for American values that we are rapidly losing each day.

In particular, I recommend the article on the Five Switches of Manliness: Challenge. This appears to be somewhat lacking in your behavior.
I have had an addiction to soending money in my past, and I watch this man’s behavior with a sense of dread. I simply cannot believe that someone who is so out of touch with personal responsibility was chosen to “lead” our nation. I worked for years to learn the lessons, and I still work hard to make good decisions to provide for my family. I honestly believe Barack Obama is incapable of making the level of prioritization required by the average American family’s budget.

The majority of people who voted for this turd were whites, or those other than blacks. Yeah, really! And every white person I‘ve talked with who voted for this disaster told me they voted for him because he’s ‘BLACK!‘ And they told me that they thought it was time a ’BLACK MAN’ had a chance to be president. That is why this turd is president, not because people did their research. These people who voted for this turd were duped by the state controlled media, a mass media lie of an unpresidented scale that the world has never seen before, plain and simple.
