Obama Appeals for Common Ground, Yet Jabs GOP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Whatever the outcome of Tuesday’s election, it’s time to put aside partisanship, President Barack Obama is telling Democrats and Republicans.

Yet his appeal for unity includes a jab at GOP leaders in the House and Senate for comments that the president said were troubling.

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio “actually said that ‘this is not the time for compromise,’” Obama said Saturday in his weekly radio and Internet address. The president added that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky “said his main goal after this election is simply to win the next one.”

“I know that we’re in the final days of a campaign. So it‘s not surprising that we’re seeing this heated rhetoric. That’s politics,” Obama said. “But when the ballots are cast and the voting is done, we need to put this kind of partisanship side — win, lose or draw.”

Voters angry and anxious about the economy and joblessness are expected to take their frustrations out on Democratic lawmakers Tuesday, possibly putting Republicans back in control of the House and maybe even the Senate.

Boehner’s comment that “this is not a time for compromise” came during a recent interview on a conservative radio show. He was trying to rebut a GOP senator‘s suggestion that repealing the health care law was not in the party’s best interest. Republicans have pledged to try to repeal the health care law or undo important parts of it.

In the same interview, Boehner said he‘d welcome Obama’s involvement in working toward Republican goals.

McConnell expressed his desire to have a Republican in the White House. He said in a published interview that the “single most important thing” Republicans want is to help Obama become a one-term president.

Tuesday’s results aside, Obama said both parties should be able to agree on steps to promote economic growth and hiring.

“Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, we need to come together to help put people who are still looking for jobs back to work,” he said.

In the weekly Republican address, Boehner said Obama has failed to deliver the change he promised. The man who likely would become House speaker if Republicans win control of the chamber also promoted party pledges to cut spending and keep taxes at current levels.

“This is a new way forward that hasn’t been tried in Washington yet,” Boehner said. “It’s a break from the direction in which President Obama has taken our country. And frankly, it’s also a break from the direction in which Republicans were headed when Americans last entrusted us with the reins of government. The American people are in charge, and they deserve nothing less.”

Obama will not listen to the people until we start impeachment proceedings. Then he will understand that we reject his whole Socialist agenda. After the election we need to start the impeachment proceedings. Because Reid has already said that they were going to try to get amnesty pushed through before he is kicked out of office. There is no compromise with the president there never has been and never will be. Only if we compromise with the Democrats is the only compromising that’s going to happen. Obama will continue to blame the Republicans for everything that fails just like they always have. When his wife said the was proud of AMERICA for the first time when he was campaigning but the AMERICAN PEOPLE did want change, but not this kind of change. Hopefully we have learned our lesson well and never be duped into believing the Socialist Democratic Party again. I pray as always the God will turn this NATION back to HIM. So that we can undo the damage done by this president.

I think that now both sides of the aisle see this man for exactly what he is. He uses race, class warfare to divide the country. He has his die hard followers but the sane and reasonable on his side of the aisle are seeing now the man they elected. A liar a man who is using the taxpayers money to fly his wife all over the world and the numerous vacations that he has taken in two years. I would not be surprise if Hillary doesn’t run against him in 2012. I am no way a fan of the Clintons but I believe that the democrats elected the wrong person to the White House. Not only is he destroying the Country, he is also destroying the democrat party.

Obama is running scared and he has reason for that. He is becoming the most hated man in America. Despite his constant compagin rhetoric, the endless ads, his pictrure of him and Aunt Jemima on various magazines and newspapers, the bottom line is he is incompetent and America knows it. He has stolen our treasury calling it a stimulus which did not work, everything this cockroach has touched has turned to doo-doo. I just wish this guy would resign and leave the country. For good. Obama will see on 2 November that America has had it and we are not about to let this socialist ruin this great country. No way. You are going down Obama!

Despite the words in this speech – he is NOT a uniter (unless you agree with and do everything he says), he is NOT a compromiser (unless the compromise comes completely from the other side). I want to respect our country’s president and the office of the presidency, however, this baloney is making it very, very hard to do. Let’s not worry about what he says, let’s pay attention to what he does. That round table discussion before health care was passed wasn’t fair. It was simply a bigger podium for the man to make sure everyone knew he was the winner of the election.

The President continues to say what he thinks the polls say will garner votes at a specific time; 2008 and 2010. He speaks of the “Party” of NO. Well for the past 2 years it did not matter. Suddenly appearing is the 2000+ page Health Care bill, a reasonable person would say NO. Shove it thru. Then a 2000+ page Financial Reg bill, a reasonable person would say no simply for the fact that neither bill was readable or understandable to even the most educated Harvard Professor and left much to be created as time past….created into what? Harshly pushed was the fact that 30 million low income and not working individuals would now be covered under the new HC plan. Who even knows what the Financial bill will bring, but I would bet that business’s will be paying much more, placing many at risk of closure. Oh….forget about job creation, WHY, not in the plan. The plan; set up the structures, H/C, Financial and housing.
What lies beneath is the continued “structured” effort to drop home values. For 19 months there has been a concerted effort to “stop” the foreclosure process. Now, after months of moratoriums, modification efforts and intervention by Fannie and Freddie Mac we have close to 7 million homes built up in inventory. This figure is misleading seeing how the banks at the direction of F/F have been renting out foreclosed homes for the past 19 months to the original home owner at a reduced, subsidized rate based on their income. Now, F/F has directed all banks to stop foreclosure on those unemployed and give them the tax payer assistance to make mortgage payments (DSNEWS.COM). The adminstration is now serioulsy considering eliminating the Mortgage Interest Tax deduction which the estimates are will drop property values 15%. Banks don’t want to lend simply because they know whats comming. A spiral downward in home prices….then maybe those who can’t afford health care insurance and a house will have it basically for free with subsidies (see recent Barney Frank statements) and can still get money placed on their EBT card each month. At some point, the give away spending will end and hopefully someone with common sense and not just an ideolgy of what they envision will be there.

I am sick and damn tired of this doofus-in-chief blaming everything on Republicans…and I don’t care for either party. Couldn’t stand Bush, as a matter of fact. Why is it that everyone (especially Democrats) seems to conveniently forget that THE DEMS HAD A MAJORITY IN CONGRESS DURING THE LAST TWO YEARS OF BUSH??? So, who exactly was responsible for driving the damn car into the ditch again??? REPUBLICAN policy, was it, hmmmm??? Although, Bush went along with a lot of their garbage, and so did the RINOS in Congress.

And, as far as the crap Obama couldn’t get passed, or had trouble passing, it WAS THE PEOPLE IN HIS OWN PARTY BLOCKING IT. Until Scott Brown, the Repubs couldn’t do squat about anything. I am just sick and tired of the GD hypocrisy and the GD lies. Stop trying to bulls!t me, Mr. Pres-i-dent. I’m not stupid.

And very amusing to me, that NOW that the Repubs are poised to take control, NOW Obama is squawking about the need for bipartisanship. Where was your bloody sense of bipartisanship when the Dems conducted their closed door meeting on ObamaCare, you hypocrite??? And HOW DARE YOU set one group of Americans (Latinos) against another??? “punish your enemies”, indeed, you POS.

Nail to the head my brother from another mother.

Bush and RINOS in DC allowed Democrats to run wild with spending for his last two years in office. What does he get for it? Blamed for everything by the same Democrats that he helped “further their agendas”.

Far as I’m concerned, Congress can sit on hold for two years and do absolutely nothing Barry.

You, and your Democratic lap dogs are on notice for attempting to circumvent the Constitution, for apologizing for this country to foreign nations, for degrading the tax paying citizens of this nation who gave you your jobs, for doing nothing about the financial and housing crises when they were brought to your attention, for allowing taxes to increase during a time of recession which will stifle job growth, and for treating tax money like ‘voting candy’ to the economically ignorant among other things.

You want OUR representatives to work with you? To do what? The things listed above?

      I don’t think so.

You doubt me? Watch what happens to Dick Lugar (Republican Senator of Indiana) in 2012 for ‘working with you’. He will lose his job and be remembered as a RINO. Evan Bayh (Democrat Senator of Indiana) won’t even run because his support of your policies have made it impossible for him to win anything. Dan Coats (R) will (more than likely) be taking Evan‘s spot as Indiana’s Senator and I have personally warned him (knowing he is a full time lobbyist) that he will not make re-election if he does not hold conservative values with his voting record, again pointing to watch what happens to Dick Lugar in 2012.

I will no longer stand for “politics as usual” and “one-side co-operation”. I hope that none of you will either.
