PHILADELPHIA (TheBlaze/AP) — Jay-Z brought out heavy hitters to support him at the “Budweiser Made In America” festival: Kanye West and President Barack Obama.

Obama appeared in a video, urging the crowd of nearly 50,000 to vote. West joined Jay-Z at the end of his set, performing hits like “Mercy” and “…In Paris” on Saturday night.

There are apparently no hard feelings between Obama and West after the president called the rapper a “jackass” in a hot mic moment. Listen to the recording of the remarks here.

“[Jay-Z] got ahead because he worked hard, learned from his mistakes and just plain refused to quit,” Obama said in the video.

The president added, “Whatever your politics or your party, you should vote this fall. Wherever you live, you’ve got a choice to make.“ Chants of ”USA! USA!” broke out before the Obama video concluded.

Before taking the stage, Jay-Z made his way down the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art – made famous by Rocky – as his song “Made In America” played in the background.

Jay-Z headlined the first night of the two-day festival he curated, performing hits like “Empire State of Mind” and “Big Pimpin’” in a 90-minute show.

Skrillex, Miike Snow and Janelle Monae also performed. Pearl Jam, Run DMC and Drake will perform Sunday.

    Gotta get out that base. I just don‘t get how a black person and a white person that doesn’t vote for obama is a racist but a black person and a white that votes for obama is not? Maybe we just don’t like that fact that he is a communist….has that ever crossed your minds?

      Obama is pathetic. He will campaign with those “so called rappers” who denigrate women calling them a garden tool and female dogs but will not honor God.

      The Hip-Hop community may wake up in time to vote.

    What the Blaze forgot to mention was that Philadelphia’s mayor, Nutter, who can’t afford to pay for the funeral of a murdered cop, used taxpayer money to help pay for this event.

    Didn’t see him on tv after hurricane issac hit Louisiana. I thought maybe he took his 1% money and left the country.

    I don’t usually agree with Obama on anything, except kanye is a jackass.

    they are black and stupid so they fall right in behind obama, they are all race haters, just at white people. but they get a pass from the media with their race baiting. I dont listen to their music or anything else that comes from them. In nov. they will see again there race hating and dis-info will mean nothing…obama will be gone, america back on the right track, and all these people will just be noise from hood rats cars again that we roll up our windows to block out! they should be asamed obama is black, he has set back the black race 50 yrs with his hate and lies.       You would think rich rappers would understand “capitalism” and how they got rich having no education or talent. American is the land of opportunity for ALL citizens, even ex cons like “fity cent.” Rappers make money off of latent fears and hate in black people. The beats are great but the words tell their real story. They think having the “black guy” win sticks it to the white guy. They better look around. The ones getting STUCK the most are blacks.

    Russell Simmons – once CEO of Def Jam records – claims everyone should pay their fair share despite having one of the artists HE specifically signed to his label ended up going to prison for tax evasion despite him claiming ‘everyone should pay their fair share.’
    Kanye West – He‘s got as big of an ego as Obama and that narcissism is instilled in everyone of his albums where he can’t help but brag about his success. Capitalism has been good to him too, despite him acting as an Occupy supporter.

    It blows my mind how the Dems will jump all over anyone from the right who aligns themselves with questionable people or make questionable comments. Yet, there is no problem with O aligning himself with a rapper who brags about dealing drugs and says the “N” word in every other lyric.

      With all due respect, how the heck does Obama being in Louisiana help anybody??? Photo ops with the teleprompter-in-chief, more Gov’t spending to assist those “folks” that desire to live below sea level, or maybe he can tout more “It‘s Bush’s fault” rhetoric…
