Obama Boldly Defies Michelles New Dietary Guidelines

When his wife unveiled the USDA’s new nutritional plate yesterday, there definitely wasn’t a space for chili dogs.

But that didn’t stop Barack Obama wolfing down two in Toledo today – with fries and an extra bowl of chili on the side.

The president happily munched on the unhealthy meal before he visited the city’s Chrysler factory, and even teased one of his hosts for ordering ketchup, a faux-pas in his home town of Chicago.

According to USA Today, he told representative Marcy Kaptur: ‘Marcy just wants ketchup. By the way, as an aficionado of hot dogs, you shouldn’t put ketchup on hot dogs… I’m trying to teach my girls.’

Those culinary lessons would hardly go down well with his wife, Michelle, who has spent this year touring the country on a crusade against childhood obesity.

Yesterday she unveiled the USDA’s new healthy-eating guide, which replaces the famous ‘My Pyramid’ with a plate divided into four nutritional quadrants: fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins.

Obama dined with Toledo Mayor Michael Bell and other local officials at Rudy’s Hot Dog, which reportedly sells 8,000 chili dogs a week.

We’re told the president ordered the house specialty: A dog with mustard, onion, chili sauce and cheese. Obama also had a bowl of chili and fries on the side.

“These guys, whatever they want; I’m buying,” Obama told one of the restaurant owners as he gestured toward his entourage.

WTVG-TV:

The owner of Rudy’s Hot Dog got a 10 minute warning the president was on his way in for a hot dog, but he didn’t believe it until the motorcade pulled up.

Harry Dionyssiou and his brother co-own the six Rudy’s Hot Dog locations across the Toledo area. “It was a thrill for me,” says Harry.

Harry was at the Rudy’s on Sylvania Friday afternoon when the parking lot suddenly filled up with squad cars. Harry says, “Some customer came in and he says, ‘Harry, what’s going on here?’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He says, ‘Police cars everywhere!’ I says, ‘You crazy.’ So I went out there. There was a sergeant there. I said, ‘Sergeant, what’s going on here?’ He says, ‘Harry, just go on inside. The President of the United States is coming.’ I thought he was joking!”

Turns out, it was no joke. President Barack Obama made an unannounced stop at Rudy’s – a Toledo staple for 91 years. He sat down with Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Senator Sherrod Brown and Mayor Mike Bell for a bite — a hot dog, bowl of chili and some fries.

The owner then talked him into eating a King Dog, then posing for a few pictures. Harry says, “I was shocked. That was just the shock of my life and some kind of experience that I’ll probably never have the rest of my life.”

    Just another instance of a double-standard. We’re supposed to follow that politcally-correct “My Plate” pie chart that Michelle Obama dished out, but she and Barack are exempt from it. I’m having a feeling that their idea of food choice manipulation will only get worse if Barack wins another four years in the White House.

    More power to him (far as culinary delights go, of course). Food is meant to be enjoyed the way a person likes it, and the consequences be hanged. First Ladies always need a cause, and this goes to show just how valuable they are in the greater scheme of things.

    But I wonder of Michelle started throwing ashtrays at her hubby over this, when they got home.

      The Obows basically set out guidelines, and that’s the end of it so far. The ones that more concern me are the food police at the local level, like mayors and councilmen, who ban restaurants from offering certain delicacies, and believe all food can be cooked without salt and still be enjoyable.

      It’s comical, in some ways. NYC bans foie gras (I wouldn’t eat it myself) because of trans fat. Yet, Japanese restaurants can still offer puffer fish which, if incorrectly prepared, will kill in a matter of hours.

      Politicians at the local level are more the ones to resist, since they actually try enact their will on the people at every turn.

      Remember the stink raised and the jokes when the ‘zombie apocolypse’ thing played a few weeks ago? Most of us assumed, rightfully, the stupid waste of money by the Fed’s…as usual and as we have come to expect…sadly.

      I was the same until something occured to me, what would happen here in America if the food supply started to drastically get reduced due to disasters – say the flooding of some of our richest farmland done deliberitly to save a city – and large swaths of cattle land being allowed to go up in flames – like in Texas…a bunch of us looking like zombies may turn into a reality.

      You can eat hot dogs occaisionally – it’s OK

      You can eat the typical fast-food meal once in a while – it’s OK

      But in GENERAL you should eat actually nutritious food MOST OF THE TIME – exactly what Mrs. Obama has been saying [along with 99% of doctors and nutrritionists]

      When he was running for President, all candidates had to submit ALL their health records…. all of them did with the exception of him…. he handed in a 1 page medical report. I remember thinking how weird that was.

      Wanna see a great one? Check out Michelle’s “Let’s Move.org” commercial. It shows kids jumping rope, playing ball, hula hooping and playing hop scotch. There is only one white child in the commercial and only one fat child in the commercial out of about 15-20 kids. I guess it was just to save money on production costs by using the fat white child to play both parts. If conservatives had done this, we would be seeing Sharpton and Jackson on TV screaming “RACIST” with their eyes bulging out!!!

      Every Admionistration since 1980 has released dietary guidlines, including that famous Commie Regan. Of course, this is the first black Administration, so I can see why you are all upset:

AND. we “dislike that this man is our president” BECAUSE he has blatantly violated the Constitution every day that he has been in office. Oh, and the fact that he is an American-hating Muslim Communist who apparently wants to dismantle our form of government and destroy our country economically did not help our opinion of him, either. So get off your high horse. People have good and valid reasons for “disliking that he is our president”, and none of them have to do with the color of his skin which, I suspect, is what you are slyly trying to imply.

      Said simply, i‘ts an appalling abuse of the First Lady’s posistion to promote a diet, even if it is one that is recommended by every nutritionist in the country. Every snooty, educated “better than thou” eliitist nutritionist with a degree from some communist University. This this is an outrage. How dare she recommend a healthy diet to children and other Americans. She lost my vote!

      Real Americans eat foods that will kill them at an early age, and fat children, and the parents who feed the, are simply American patriots refusing to be Communists.

      Already in the town I live in some parents have been jailed for giving McDonald’s food to their children, and some are being prosecuted for having morbidly obese children. Brave new world indeed. Thanks liberal idiots for forcing me to stop making my favorite macaroni and cheese recipe under pain of prosecution.

      Hey, Barack is a man. What man listens to his wife’s suggestions about what he sould or should not eat ? Eating at “Rudy’s Hotdogs”, a local establishment in Toledo Ohio since 1920, was a smart campaign move for Barack. Shows he’s not completely out of touch with the people. He may not know how to do certain things as the POTUS, but, I have to hand it to him, he does know where and how to eat what he likes. I love chilly dogs and I chilly burgers.

      Dairy Queen used to have the best chilly burgers in Texas. Most of them have taken it off their menu, I guess the nutritionist finally got to them. Other prople cn eat all the “ricecakes” and other diet delicacies they want, I perfer to join Barcak and eat a couple of Rudy’s Chillydogs, some fries and a side bowl of chili. Now, that’s a meal fit for a President or a King. I don‘t agree with Obama’s policies, but I do agree with his taste buds. Ha
