Obama Calls for ‘Orderly Transition’ in Egypt

President Barack Obama said Tuesday evening that a transition to democracy in Egypt “must begin now” and should lead to in free and fair elections.
Speaking after reigning Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak announced he would not seek reelection, Obama said he had called Mubarak to discuss Egypt‘s continuing situation as many protesters demand Mubarak’s immediate resignation. According to Obama, the two leaders spokes for about 30 minutes Tuesday.
“He recognizes that the status quo is not sustainable and that change must take place,” Obama said during a brief press conference at the White House. He further stressed that “an orderly transition must be meaningful, it must be peaceful, and it must begin now.”
Obama‘s message to Mubarak urging him not to run again sharply contrasted with the White House’s characterization of its support in a news briefing Monday.

We agreed that my plan for his stepping out of power is sound. The children of Eygpt should be thankful for my presence and concern for their well being. Thank you and good night.

That’s the best way to try and get the credit. Wait until someones says that they are not going to do something and then tell them not to do it. “As Egypt lurches toward the end of President Hosni Mubarak‘s regime, one way or another – by “an orderly transition to democratic rule” (as Hillary Rodham Clinton delicately puts it), through violent overthrow or simply through the demise of the ailing 82-year-old president – much is unclear. One thing that should not be is that the Muslim Brotherhood is our enemy, and whatever role it plays in Egypt‘s future will be to our detriment.
Such clarity is readily available because the Brotherhood (MB or, in Arabic, Ikhwan) has told us as much. Consider, for example, the mission statement for the MB found in one of its secret documents, titled “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America.”
We also know how the Brotherhood plans to pull off our destruction. Another MB document, this one undated, is called “Phases of the World Underground Movement Plan.” It describes a five-installment program for achieving the triumph of Shariah – together with a status report on the realization of several of the phases’ goals:
Phase 1: “Discreet and secret establishment of leadership.”
Phase 2: “Phase of gradual appearance on the public scene and exercising and utilizing various public activities. [The MB] greatly succeeded in implementing this stage. It also succeeded in achieving a great deal of its important goals, such as infiltrating various sectors of the Government.”
Phase 3: “Escalation phase, prior to conflict and confrontation with the rulers, through utilizing mass media. Currently in progress.”
Phase 4: “Open public confrontation with the Government through exercising the political pressure approach. It is aggressively implementing the above-mentioned approach. Training on the use of weapons domestically and overseas in anticipation of zero-hour. It has noticeable activities in this regard.”
Phase 5: “Seizing power to establish their Islamic Nation under which all parties and Islamic groups are united.”

Heard stat that 75% of country is under 30. I pray for President Obama to step up. we are from Worcester Massachusetts and know plenty of Christians and Moslems who fled here because of the extremeists. On the other hand, in Egypt there is an educated secular generation without jobs that wants real democracy and no part of Sharia. I’m sure Mubarek frustrated Obama, because he won’t open the door for the MB.

I hear the concern in your post…I want you to know that I DO NOT hate Obama…I HATE absolutely everything that he stands for…there is a difference…I pray (it seems like, constantly) for those poor souls…
Mubarak is a ruthless dictator…but…as I understand it, he is ruthless because he lives in a ruthless country…we have all seen the horrific, inhumane crimes perpetrated by the radicals all over the world…what I do not understand is why on earth Obama would not negotiate with Mubarak to bring in an entirely new government and offer these people true freedom and opportunity…however…I fear that Obama is well aware that even though so called “Democratic” elections take place in these countries…and the people are led to believe that they are “Democratic” in nature, the voting is rigged and after the election…Dictatorships simply continue uninterrupted and unchanged…(Iran is a great example of this… I’m studying more and more and learning a lot about the incredible similarities that exist between Socialist/Marxist/Communist ideologies and those of radical Islam…it is horrifying…Obama is a Marxist and a terrorist sympathizer…it is all too apparent…we are ALL in grave danger!

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 6:41amWelll, I’m so glad that President Obama can hear the voices of the Egyptians but it would be nice if he could hear the American voices too. He never said he had heard the voces of nearly two million Americans gathered in Washington last August. I guess he wasn’t tuned in on the same wavelink as the Tea Partiers and conservatives. Obama has promised change to the Egyptians. I hope it’s not the same change he has tried to implement here in the USA. Change in Egypt will probably mean more Islam influence and power in government. Hopefully Egypt won’t become another radical Muslim state in the Middle-East like Iran. Let’s face it, the USA has little or no influence in the Arab speaking world. Our cultures and goals are completly different. We’ll know in a few weeks which way Egypt will lean towards and if it has become a real threat again to world peace.

Same thought crossed my mind yesterday…don’t know…wish we knew the mindset of our soldiers over there…Why have we not heard from anyone in our military? And I DON’T mean “retired” Generals on Fox News (not that I am meaning to be disrespectful…but…PLEASE)…Why do we NEVER hear from the Big Brass? Oh, I forgot, we DO when they have done something that the Potus doesn’t like…I mean, where are the REAL MEN IN CHARGE? This is serious stuff! Where are they? What, WE THE PEOPLE aren’t entitled to some kind of “game plan” or explanation…For God’s sake…our young men are dying daily…AND…for what? So these people can have “Democratic Elections” one day…only to be thrown back under the bus of tyranny the day after?
If it weren’t for Glenn, Talk Radio and the Internet we’d be in the dark…Oh, that’s right…Obama “said” that we ALREADY “get too much information”, sorry…I forgot!!!!!
