Obama Calls For ‘Prayer and Reflection’ After Colo. Massacre

President Barack Obama called on the nation to turn to “prayer and reflection” following the mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater that left 12 people dead, and vowed the federal government will do “everything necessary” to bring to justice those responsible.

“We may never understand what leads anyone to terrorize their fellow human beings.  Such evil is senseless – beyond reason,” Obama said in his weekly address, one day after the shooting. “While we will never know fully what causes someone to take the life of another, we do know what makes that life worth living.”

Obama said the shooting is a reminder that “our time here is limited and it is precious,” echoing his first remarks about it on Friday.

“This weekend I hope everyone takes some time for prayer and reflection – for the victims of this terrible tragedy, for the people who knew them and loved them, for those who are still struggling to recover, and for all the victims of the less publicized acts of violence that plague our communities on a daily basis,” Obama said.

Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney have both asked Colorado television stations to temporarily pull their attack ads against one another in the wake of the shooting.

      That places total victims who lost their lives because of gun control at approximately 56 million in the last century. Since we should learn from the mistakes of history, the next time someone talks in favor of gun control, find out which group of citizens they wish to have exterminated.

      ASHES……..Impressive list and even now the gun control crowd is gearing up to use the Aurora shooting to justify taking away gun ownership rights. I understand Obama cut his Florida trip short and rushed back to D.C. as soon as news came out about the shooting. His plans include adding America to your list. He had to go prepare his next move.

      Forget “prayer and reflection”, how about expanding conceal-carry laws. One person in that theater carrying could have saved lives and prevented serious injuries. Those people were helpless, sitting ducks…just the way liberals like their citizens.

      When I read o calls for prayer and reflection, I had a little laugh. Yes, we need prayer and reflection, but not in the way he’s calling for.
      Never let a crisis go to waste, may be his motto, but if he’s praying and reflecting, it‘s to thank his god for any and all distraction from his miserable term in office where he’s done nothing good for America, but had fun doing it at tax payers expense.

      concealed carry, while it should be legal everywhere, would have most likely have been a disaster if someone had drawn on him. he had full body armor, and unless the carrying citizen was an olympic class shooter they would have just ended up in an unwinnable fierefight against a fully armored maniac, with even more people killed in the ensuing crossfire. Life is not a rambo movie. This was a senseless tragedy and the last thing we should be doing is making this into a political grandstand for either side. let the liberals sink to that level if they wish.

      In cases like this I think there is a lot to be said for a speedy trial ending in public hanging. Copycats will be after this for the fame, but they should see the whole deal. Maybe there wouldn’t be any copycats.

      Mr. Holmes must be Muslim, or BHO needed time to start off Ramadan on the “right foot” using Prayer. Was he facing Mecca? We can have prayer for this insensibility act but we cannot have a National Day of Prayer – why is this? There will be more trekking in the WH during Ramadan observers, but no Christians or Jews or Native Americans.

      ASHES, so true. I always felt leery about Kissinger, but back then, all the people were making him into a Prince. Never understood why, but heck I was younger and didn’t see the truth, but in my gut I felt it. Plus, couldn’t understand most of the words he said.

      I am in Winter Park , FL , home of Rollins College where Obummer was to speak Friday … all day long Wednesday and Thursday on every radio station were ads reminding you to get your free tickets to the Obama show on Friday at every “Organizing for Amerika” location… The Colorado killings were exactly what Obama wanted , gave him a valid reason to cancel , he didn’t have a sell-out ,, he probably would have had an embarassingly small turnout.

      And please explain to us what Romney is going to do differently than Obama other than pushing even more of the tax burden onto the middle class? He pays an effective tax rate of 13% so the rest of us have to pay 50%. He won‘t release any tax returns because he doesn’t want us to see how utterly corrupt the tax system is in favor of the extremely wealthy.

    DIANE TX……….Obama’s call to prayer got to you too I see. I think what we are all feeling is revulsion and righteous indignation that a man as corrupt as Obama even pretends to love and trust the Lord.

    After watching him systematically destroy America and all America has ever stood for, his claim that America is no longer a Christian nation, to his love of all things Islam……..for him to even suggest that we pray is a slap in the face. I want to know to what god, if any, he prays to.

    I, (in opposition to Obama) call out for sanity, and human decency. I’m a Catholic, yet I would never attempt to force my religious beliefs on anyone else. If a person “comes” to my religion, it is because they choose to do so.

    As for Obama, I wonder whom he is praying to. I don’t believe that Obama believes that there is such a thing as any “God”. It’s all an act for him. Obama is a commie, through and through. For him, no one is exceptional, or special. We are all merely clogs in the system to be “managed” and “dispersed” according to our abilities.

      The ATF per se was not involved in the trafficking, it was only using dealers’ records in an attempt to track guns from low-level purchasers to higher-ups.

      what should he have done? you guys would bash him for not saying anything at all. he is a bad and inneffective president; that’s all anyone needs to vote him out. if he was the liberal-commie-muslim-atheist-nazi-socialist-mastermind-boogeyman he could have done a lot worse. He is the democrat version of bush: a useless, toothless, clueless, and clawless leader that will be forgotten. but the personal attacks and jumping all over him for any little thing makes all of you look like raving lunatics who just want to whine about anything and everything. It’s why conservatives look like simpletons to the rest of the world.

      @ gonzo – i described his professional qualities. notice there was no name calling, simply a personal review from one of his employers. An employer, I might add, that voted against him last go around and will also do so this time around. bad employees need to be fired, not name called. I guess I need to ‘grow up’ and attack anything and everything he says like the rest of you.

    Of course the only killing that 0bama permits is when the Democratic thug machine does it, when the 0 admin supplies the guns to do it (a la Fast & Furious) or when it creates civil disruption in a country to advance the Muslim Brotherhood.
