Are you a Republican? President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign wants your email address.
As part of the campaign’s push for online donations, there’s a new option on the re-election website for donors to include the name and email address of a GOPer they know. According to the site, it’s a way for donors to “have a little fun” with the Republicans in their lives, by telling them they’ve “inspired” them to make a donation to Obama.
It’s listed under the heading “Who inspires you to give?”:
This holiday season, we’re giving you a chance to have a little fun at the expense of a Republican in your life by letting them know they inspired you to make a donation to the Obama campaign.
Simply enter their name and email address below. Then, we’ll send them a message letting them know they inspired you to donate.
Keith Koffler from the White House Dossier observes:
The effort could help the Obama campaign build a database that would enable it to target Republican voters during the general election campaign. But, more perniciously, it could also become part of an Democratic effort to influence Republican primary voters to select a candidate Democrats think Obama could most easily defeat.
The Obama administration made headlines during the health care debate in 2009 when it encouraged supporters to collect and forward “fishy” emails and other information about the president’s plan directly to the White House.

This is pathetic….just goes to show how immature this administration is. Agitating and poking is fun?
The whole bunch is nothing but a P0S.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 1:12pmIf someone did this to me, they WOULD NOT be considered my friend. This is one of the most underhanded and conniving things King Obama has done. I keep thinking he can’t go any lower, but sadly I’m mistaken on almost a daily basis.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 1:11pmNot very long ago, I would think that gathering email address’ would just be used to send out spam, sell it on lists.
We are in the Leninst era of obama
When I hear he wants a civilian army to rival the military, he is cozy with dictators, is pushing the arab spring onto America and wants people to report their neighbors if they FEEL that what is said could be considered terrorist leanings. The staffing of these so called FEMA camps that will harbor civilians that can be arrested and held by the military forever according to HR 1032.
These emails will be used to identify the opposition. I AM VERY SUSPICIOUS OF HIS MOTIVES.

If you’re registered with a political party, anyone working on an election campaign already knows this. The rolls for voter telephone numbers already have your name, last known address, and latest political affiliation.
The kicker is that if you’re not a registered part of a political party, you probably can’t vote in the primary and thus will have no influence on which candidates are chosen. One of those “Darned if you do, darned if you don’t” scenarios.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 1:01pmThis is truly creepy. No one sees this as a move to collect the names of his perceived enemies?
Report Post »Orwellian. What will happen if he succeeds in his plans to overtake the WH again? We’ve already seen his dictator tendencies, and now he wants to take down names?
Stranger still, no one in his Administration sees nothing wrong with his collecting names of those that disagree with him.
This just gives the monster wheels.

Voter logs already have this to an extent. They don’t have who you voted for, but if you’re registered with a party, your name will appear with that information. It’s public knowledge and while disconcerting, it’s nothing new, nor is it a Democrat-only kind of thing.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 1:28pmHahaha, hope not! From working with the 2008 campaign effort in FL, I know that at least the GOP mainly uses it to remind Republican voters to go vote. We also went for people with no affiliations. We stayed away from people who were registered Democrats. Not much of a chance to get someone in the other party to listen to you, but plenty of chances for trouble.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 1:16pmI would assume you would use TCPA as a basis for suing? From what I can tell though, non-profits are not bound by it, and thus an election campaign would not be covered by the Act.
I’m not positive, of course. But if you do get spammed, you could file a complaint with the FCC, and that might muck them up a bit.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 2:28pmI_AM….Obama’s lost the election. These are the moves of a very desperate and adrift administration. He’s openly playing American agaisnt American. I dare say his creepy little internet troll Jesse Lee came up with this idea. My prediction is it will backfire on little Barry like his snitch and “misinformation” sites did. I hope FOX give this publicity…as soon as most Americans get wind of Barry and Jesse‘s antics they’ll add it to their “dont’ vote for Obama” list.
