Obama: ‘Convinced’ Job Losses Prove $830 Billion Stimulus Worked

Obama: Convinced Job Losses Prove $830 Billion Stimulus Worked Can an increase in unemployment be attributed to the “success” of President Obama’s multi-billion dollar stimulus plan? According to the President: Yes it can.

A mere three days after the U.S. Department of Labor reported a June unemployment rate of 9.2 percent — up a tick from May — Obama said the loss of jobs is proof positive that his $830-billion economic stimulus worked.

Below is a partial transcript of Obama’s revelation and the video follows:

“Now, without re-litigating the past, I am absolutely convinced and the vast majority of economists are convinced that the steps we took in the recovery act saved millions of people their jobs, or created a whole bunch of jobs. And, part of the evidence of that, as you see instances of the recovery act phasing out.”

Obama then added:

“As we’ve seen that federal support for states diminish, we’ve seen the biggest job losses in the public sector — teachers, police officers, firefighters, losing their jobs. So, my strong preference would be for us to figure out ways that we can continue to provide help across the board.”

Obama then clarified he can’t implement whatever kind of “help” he wants to, as he is operating under “constraints” from the House of Representatives.

According to CNS, back in 2009 when the President signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, his top economic adviser, Christina Romer, reported that the act would prevent unemployment from reaching 8 percent. Of course, we are well beyond that point now.

So is Obama just trying to spin a bad situation, or do you believe that job losses prove the President’s stimulus worked? Will the so-called “success” of the stimulus now become part of the administration’s narrative moving forward into 2012?

    Emp. Obama claims success and “cares” yet his actions stifle businesses from moving forward expanding and hiring, all of which keep folks like myself from getting work.       If you have a sick patient and the patient is getting worse, I do not believe you say the patient is recovering. The United States is not in the recovery stage. You have to see improvement in the condition before you can say recovering. Climbing unemployment figures do not show recovery.

      The jobs that were created were govt. UNION jobs and cost $250k a piece! That’s before you figure the wages of the job created!

      Chazman reflects my sentiments exactly. But how could you do this? Not pay taxes anymore? I dont know, they would label us enemies and throw us in jail. It would only work if at least 65% of american people were on board with it.       my son’s in the same boat – over a year without a viable offer/interview – of course, if he wanted to make cold calls selling insurance door-to-door, paying for his own gas & working solely on commission while ripping off old or poorer folks, he could have had dozens of those positions.

      something has to give – his benefits are really skinny & gas for those phantom interviews and/or a minimum wage job “too” far from home would be an insane, unacceptable choice.

      President Obama appears to have the same problem that has affected most progressive liberals in this country. It is a lack of brain function due to insufficient oxygen being supplied to it. This is caused by their heads being up their butts for so long that they can’t breathe and therefore no oxygen can reach their brain. It can be fatal if not corrected (we can all hope, can’t we)??? Now in my life I have had my head up my butt a couple of times and I didn’t like it very much. It is very dark, it smells funny, and you definitely have trouble with the respiratory process. I extracted is pretty quickly once I realized what was going on.
      If Obama thinks the declining jobs and other economic indicators in this country is proof that his
      stimulus and other programs have/are working, he is definitely infected with this disease and is on the verge of being borderline delusional. I suggest he submit his resignation immediately in the best interest of the country.

Today he openly used scare tactics to scare Republicans into voting for his ‘plan.’ He came out and lied that he could not save Social Security checks, he knows that is a lie because the Treasury actually spoke out against those lies.     It would seem to me that Obama is unbeatable at this point unless something goes terribly wrong. He has unemployment in single digits, our debt is under 100 percent of GDP, and he has been nothing short of brilliant with his leadership during the debt ceiling negotiations. I am absolutey shocked that anyone would not be in awe of his first 2 1/2 years in office!!

      Millions out of work, GDP to debt ratio was much lower under Bush – Obama only worsened it.
      Under this new system of counting unemployment, double digit unemployment would be an extreme catastrophe. The actual unemployment, as it was counted before the government changed the formula to make it appear better than it really was, it’s more like 17-21%.

      It doesn’t take much to impress you, @encinon. All you need to see is [D] and you’re in awe.

      Bush was bad, Obama is much worse. Pelosi belongs in a home for elders struggling with dementia.

World War 2 Employed a lot of people but what got us on the right track was congress cutting the tax rates after the war. If you have a patient on IV feeding, and a ventilator they have not recovered. That is where we are. He wants to keep us in the coma.       Government job losses are a good thing, because as our Declaration of Independence notes, governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed; and all the redistributive thefts on the part of government are violations of American citizens’ inalienable rights.

      Obama, here, is trying to deceive the Constitutionalists by acknowledging that a shrinking public sector is good for the private sector, but leaving out the fact that the stimulus and the growing dependency on the nanny state was, and is, designed to collapse the economy into Socialism (more than it is, already).

      Unfortunatly I can see the high probability of Obama declaring martial law and assuming full control as a dictator in all but name after the 2012 elections. I would not put it past him to do so if he is sent out of office by the voters and the electorial college.

      This is the core of the true clear and present dangers we face is a band of radicals who have figured out how to use the system for power and control, and most likely will seek to use a scorched earth last stand as they lose more and more of each.

      There is an agenda here going on that many forget. Obama is in Egypt. in Libya and now in Yeman and Syria according to there and here. If Obama seems to be loosing the election in 2012, he has stirred up enough problems with Islam that there is a likely event of bombing (if not home grown) here and possibly in or from Israel, and yes, will call Martial Law. His Executive Orders is legislating laws outside of congress and was never meant to usurp the procedures to make law.

      The county commissioners in my county here in Florida just voted yesterday for environment change in direct correlation to the UN’s agenda 21. The intent is to Radically Transform Pasco County by creating a dense Urban Corridor of Vertical High Rise Housing and industry along the Pasco County Southern Border. Obama’s executive order 13575 was the last needed to control rural areas.

      It seems the election is the count down.

    I can understand Obama lying (well spinning) the job numbers and why the numbers are positive. He is trying to get re-elected (I pray to God he does not) in 2012 and he is in campaign mode now. He can’t get out and tell the truth that he is THE WORST President ever.       Here are a couple of starting facts.

      1776 – 2000 (225 years) national debt 5.5 trillion

      2001-2011 (10 years) 8.8 trillion

      They have plain and simply bankrupted this once great country on purpose.

      VENNOYE, he lives in a parallel universe in his own mind and, yes, I think he believes what he says. That in itself is very scary as he now cannot tell truth from fiction. When you ‘read’ as many lies as he has for the last 2-1/2 years, it is hard to find your way back to the truth.
