We don’t need another commission full of progressive marxists to figure out how to reduce the deficit, the answer is simple: stop spending money and cut the budget including most of the entitlement programs. Maybe if people aren’t getting a “free ride” they will go to work.

Another thing, I keep hearing “them” talking about the 95% of Americans who are the “middle class”. How in the hell can 95% of anything be considered the middle? And how is it that they are getting away with calling someone who makes more than $250,000 “rich”? They aren’t rich, they are part of the “hard working” Americans and very probably the “upper middle class” in America not the rich.

Van, so you measure wealth by how much someone makes in a year? I made over $250K last year and I have a net worth of $12M. I worry about the middle and the poor. Tax me. Tax us all so we can pay this debit down.

Not everyone making $250,000 or more a year have accumulated millions of dollars. As far as tax us all, I totally agree but that means “all” not just the top 5 or 6 percent. Every American should “invest” in their country, not just take from the government.

We should also begin to cut back on entitlement programs and stop the madness in D.C. America cannot afford the road we have been on for a long time, both parties are at fault, “professional, qualified, career politicians” are one of the main problems we have.

We need term limits and “citizen” politicians, but the electorate will have to wake up first and understand who they are voting for and what they stand for.

Throw the bums out and bring someone in who will do to the government what a new penny pinching CEO does to a wasteful company…cut spending. Cut spending and return the money to the “investors” (read taxpayers like you and me). Idiots. Basic financial principles. Stupidity this blatant almost has to be intentional.

    2) When are these people going to get that if spending money you don‘t have in your household budget doesn’t work and isn’t a fiscally sound way to operate, neither is doing so in a larger budget setting — whether it be locally, regionally, statewide, or nationally?

You definitely won’t see that anywhere in the Republi-Socialists new “CONTRACT”. Deficit spending, other than in times of war(declared by Congress) must be outlawed under the Treason Definition. The Federal Reserve must be disbanded and a “Real Currency” issued(by the U.S. Government) and then all “National Debt” paid pro rata with it. I would be happy to pay the Taxes required to do that. But it won’t ever happen. Just heard on the radio that the U.N. is ready to push forward a Global Tax to relieve the World Wide Suffering from the Obama Depression. Spain needs help with their 22% unemployment and failed economy, and so they want “other nations” to share their burden. Anybody want to guess just “Which” other nations they’re talking about.

The American Government needs to start living like the American Family. When debt is high… we dont go out for steak dinners, we eat beans and bread.

Time for the Govt. to go on a beans and bread diet. Stop sending money to protect a bug… I squash bugs, I dont relocate them. Stop spending money to make signs, get cardboard and a marker and have each congress man MAKE ONE… just like we do.

Stop printing out so much nonsense when it is readly available ONLINE…. that is what the families do. Stop spending money to renovate buildings that dont need renovation… hint Mr Pres- when American Families are in debt, we cant afford to redecorate our rooms… since the Govt is in MASSIVE debt, we cannot afford to redecorate your office.

Another way to cut the budget is Foodstamps… hellooooo if a family gets foodstamps or welfare, require that they get drug tested and cut them off if they are doing ILLEGAL drugs… illegal is illegal. Limit the amount of time anyone can qualify for welfare and foodstamps over thier lifetime. those programs are SUPPOSED to be a hand UP… not a hand OUT.
Mrs Obama, want to cut back on fat kids, how about you take on the people using foodstamps to buy soda and candy and sweets.

Want a balance federal budget with an extreme surplus, give a housewife a red pen and the budget… we will cut the fat FAST.

Capitalist economies are run via consumption. If there is no consumption then the economy seizes up. When there is less private consumption going on (such as now) then the government needs to continue consuming (or increase it) so that the wheels of the economy keep turning.

I AM TIRED OF FEEDING YOU, and my kids aren’t going to either. As Debrabate alludes to above, I have spent the last 50 years working my ass off and sometimes living on Pinto Beans and Cornbred, to feed my family and continue paying taxes to the Socialist Government. Let’s spend your money to keep the economy rolling with Government Spending. NOBODY in this country is HUNGRY nor IN POVERTY nor lacking MEDICAL CARE, they just don’t have a Big Screen TV in “Every” room, so deh is po folks, and needs sum hep.

Do you folks not get it even now? There is no such thing as Government Money, there is ONLY MONEY STOLEN by the Government at gunpoint from whoever earned it, through TAXATION. We are now out of MONEY for you to STEAL and spend as you see fit.

Well this is now OVER, the Bills have come due, and no one can pay them. IF you don’t believe this, hide and watch. And FYI, it no longer matters who gets elected, NONE of them can FIX IT. So, UNLESS JESUS CHRIST returns, we’re all on our own.

I have to agree with Mauser, but would rephrase it slightly. Capitalism and the free market cannot work under a socialistic government. Unless we all want to be truly equal (equally poor and oppressed that is), we need to shift the Government away from socialism. Government is NOT the economic engine in free markets; it is an economic black hole.

Excessive government spending is a waste in the good times, and suicidal in the bad. I don’t know about you, but I think that stimulus money to ‘create jobs’ is a waste since these jobs are not permanent and will expire with the funds. Instead of wasting the money, leave it in the tax payer’s pocket where it belongs. If the Gov’t can’t do that, why not make the stimulus money available to small businesses via 10 year, no interest loans? Then at least we would have the potential for economic growth and continued employment.

Inherent flaw in argument…in order for the government to spend money, it first has to take money out of the economy (as taxes). The taxes have to go to pay for government services etc. (including the Buraeucrats nessecary to take & track the money).

Government doesn’t “create jobs” (other that government jobs which are a drrain on the economy) all it can do is create the atmosphere in which the economy functions (business friendly or hostile).

I’m goping to yell for help to get me out of the quick sand.” It doesn’t matter how all the quick sand (that is swallowing our nation) got there….the source needs to be cut off and drained. These people make no sense….“you need to spend money to make money”….first you have to have money to spend it!! Oh, Heidi, you just don’t understand economics, do you? The rich get taxed, and we get more money to spend. If it isn’t enough, we print more. When there are no more rich people to tax, we print even more money. There is no end to the money we can spend—ah, well, that the government can spend it on your behalf, of course, ’cause they know what you’d want them to spend it on. You don’t need to make more or worry about spending anything. They got yer back! Also, don’t worry about all that toxic ink spewing into the water system of DC or anything like that. We’re gonna go green and only use environmentally friendly natural plant inks. Like we said before: we got yer back!

It does if you look at it from their point of view, “the redistribution of wealth.” They are setting us up with a huge credit bill that will absorb all of our combined wealth through government expenditures, giving them not only all of our current wealth but future wealth for generations. Thus giving the elite complete control and ownership of everything and everyone. That’s correct, “EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE” we will all be slaves to their system. Those who are rebellious will either be starved into submission or destroyed with war. We all have to wake up, I know it sounds like a doomsday prophesy but that is exactly what is happening. One world government through a violent financial takeover.
If we wake up now we might have a chance to fight ourselves free, but the longer we take to get to action…

Once again the administration does not get a simple concept of business…

If you have more money to spend, like with lower tax rates, you can invest it back into the business to make cheaper and better goods, hire more people, and make more money which goes back into the same loop again – all total real wealth grows, resulting in more revenue from the taxes.

Also, if you are out of debt, you have more money to spend from not paying the extra interest rates and the debt itself – making more availible for investments.

Very simple equasion, too bad Mr Obama and his lackys do not get it.

Why do they always refer to a tax cut as a cost to the taxpayer? It is NOT a cost. It is OUR money, not theirs and if they want to consider it a cost, then cut spending somewhere to offset that “cost” such as the growing number of needless federal agencies that employ hundreds of thousands of paper-pushers that offer little to NO return for their paycheck. Collapsing the system seems to be well on track and I am not convinced that we will EVER be able to stop it from happening. We have been apathetic for way too long and these Marxists have been operating with complete freedom assembling the infrastructure for a very long time. They just need the right catalyst to implement the machine. A terror attack would most likely give them the excuse.

TOBYWIL2 adds interest, “AMERICAN THINKER posted my paper”

“Our President and the Congress are promising to create jobs by enacting the ‘Jobs for Main Street Act.’ Someone is confused here.”

I quote you from your article to verify I have read your words. Clear to me you are a good thinker and equally clear, I am in basic agreement with you.

My comments here are not to be mistaken for a critique of you. My comments are a critique of American Thinker.

This American Thinker outfit is a camouflaged left liberal organization. I am not quite sure what is the agenda of American Thinker but whatever agenda, this is a left liberal agenda. American Thinker practices severe Iron Fist censorship and does control the message, typically to a moderate side as in “conservative liberal” or “moderate conservative”.

Years back, when I first began participating at American Thinker, many readers expressed appreciation of my being bluntly truthful. A staff member at American Thinker publicly wrote, “Taha, you are a breath of fresh air, American Thinker needs people like you.”

Quite soon, editors at American Thinker began censoring my articles, cutting out paragraphs and changing the context of my articles. Today, American Thinker refuses to publish any of my articles. I am not allowed to participate at American Thinker.

Point here is readers need to be careful where you write. Many web sites advertise to be conservative, many web sites advertise to be a place for thinkers. Quite often, this is not true.

American Thinker is a poorly concealed left liberal web site which practices harsh censorship. Do not be fooled by their outfit logo name; they are actually Un-American Thinker.
