Obama Doesn‘t Mention ’God’ in Thanksgiving Message — Problem?

Sherman Frederick in the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
In what I think almost all Americans would call “odd,” President Barack Obama delivered his weekly address with a speech entitled: “On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country.”
In the text of his speech, he referred to Thanksgiving as a “celebration of community.”
Holy cow! Is that one screwed up view or what?

Fox News Radio’s Todd Starnes:
President Obama did not include any reference to God during his weekly address titled, “On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country.”
His remarks were void of any religious references although Thanksgiving is a holiday traditionally steeped in giving thanks and praise to God.
The president said his family was “reflecting on how truly lucky we truly are.”
For many Americans, though, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on how blessed and thankful they are.
The folks at Gawker find this all pretty amusing:
This year Obama decided to do something a little different and celebrate “the community” and the troops instead of God. As the LA Times reports, this literally forced Republicans and wingnuts to spend their holidays writing, blog-commenting, and tweeting about how Obama is a militant atheist, a turkey, and a “proponent of separatist multiculturalism and its inherent disruption of progress toward a unified America and the common good.” No references to his ties to Islam from what we’ve seen; maybe it occurred to people that he can’t be an Islamic fundamentalist and an atheist at the same time. (He’ll probably be a Muslim again by Christmas.)
Besides random tweeters and commenters, a Fox Radio commentator and a columnist who says “holy cow!” also complained about Obama’s God-less speech, and probably some others but it‘s a holiday and we don’t feel like torturing ourselves by wading through such silliness any longer.

Trust me, if GOD wants to humble Obamao HE will. In fact, it may be in the works already. You see, GOD does things in HIS own way and in HIS own time and often works through good people already in place here. Have faith in Christ and watch what happens as the days play out.
In the interim, do all you can to fight this knucklehead (Obamao) and keep your powder dry. GOD gave us Amendment II for a specific reason and it wasn’t for duck hunting although HE allows for that.

We don’t have a blank meaningless “faith”, we have faith in our Creator, who granted to us Men certain unalienable Rights. We believe in God, the Ruler of Nations and the Supreme Judge of the World; who alone determines the destiny of each Nation.
We don’t “face impossible odds” and “somehow” yet succeed, we hold principles and values taught in Christianity, and stay faithful to the Bible; for with God all things are possible.

Collective salvation is dependent on the salvation of “each other”, rather than on Christian foundational beliefs. Jesus said, I AM the way, the Truth, and the Life. He further stated, no man cometh to the Father BUT BY ME. It’s a one on one act of redemption. Any other lesson being taught is not of God. Collective salvation is no different than the story of the Tower of Babel. The fashioned bricks of man trying to become a god.
The Greek language is pretty rigid with statement like “I AM”. Jesus was stating that HE WAS the only way to God. We know that’s true, and that the Pharisee’s understood it exactly that way because they picked up stones to stone Him to death for what they believed was heresy, being the replacement to the ritualistic Law as the propitiation for sin.
Jesus‘ salvation isn’t dependent on OTHERS, it is individually based on our affirmative, and individual bowing before His throne of Grace. The Holy Spirit can only work in us independently (which is why we’re to go in private in prayer), teaching us the way we must go to enter into the rest of Christ Jesus. Christ would never Judge you, or anyone else based on others acts. Obama’s collective salvation is not Christian, nor of the Christian God.

It‘s if you’re not on my side of the road I’m going to run you over. The middle has to argue with the crazies on both sides who want it their way or the highway. I love how everyone hates that Congress can’t get anything done, yet when they’re asked if they want their side to negotiate they respond with “hell no!” No moderation is why we have become a consumer driven, prescription drug addicted, fast food fattened society. The middle ground is now the drop zone. Round up people who believe the same way as you do and mow over everyone else.
People who post on this site are hilariously one sided that it’s almost sad. I like Beck a lot and agree with a lot of what he has to say despite his religious beliefs. I am a fiscal conservative who has some liberal leaning tendencies such as gay marriage. I am anti-abortion except in cases of rape and incest, but am pro the morning after pill. I just wish that people would not use the morning after pill as a form of birth control.. I am an atheist, but the majority of my friends are Evangelical Christians. I do have Mormon aunts and uncles, two friends that are Jewish and a few gay friends. You say moderation is too wimpy to make a stand. I say my moderation allows me to stand up for both sides and has given me a wide range of family and friends all of whom are great people.

Instead I use it as a way to reach both sides and help each side understand why the other side may think that way. I have no problem in picking a side when it comes down to it, but I also am not so stubborn that I will ONLY agree with “my” party even if their reasoning is asinine(as it usually ends up being for both sides). My moderation allows me to question MY beliefs and consider that “I” may be the one who is wrong, not the other person.
Yes, I”m an atheist, but I am also open to the ability that I’m wrong about there not being a God. That’s the main difference. You are not open to the possibility that you may be wrong about there being a God.
Most of these debates end up coming down to people retreating to their comfort zone, the predisposed beliefs that they were raised up in, and refusing the possibility that they’re wrong which is why both sides despise each other. Both sides wish the other side were more understanding an open minded, yet neither is.

You people are hilarious. Did you even read what I said? I take a stance, but I am also not bound by my party to ONLY agree with them. I am pro small Government and limited taxes, so your argument goes out the window there.
It just goes back to my point about the “two” parties. Their mentality has become, “if they’re not with me, they’re against me” despite the fact that I am more conservative then I am liberal. I’m glad that you people admit you have no interest in compromise.
I think it’s hilarious that the people who have done the most harm(both sides unwilling to hear or understand the others argument) blame moderates who hear and understand both arguments. You are cowards for not thinking outside your own party and ideals. It’s okay though, congregate with only like minded individuals, fight against the liberals and mow down moderates. There may be a God, but He doesn’t reward good people for believing in him and sucking up to him. I suppose we should be grateful for all the really big stuff He got right. Thank you God for the delicate balance of forces that binds atoms together and for this planet circling the sun in a nice stable orbit for all these years at just the right distance to bring forth all these forms of life. Now that that’s out of the way I, like the President, can spend the rest of Thanksgiving being thankful for the people who have given me personally something to be thankful for.
