Obama Executive Orders Impose New Gun Rules

A few days ago, the Blaze reported on the low-key plans of the Obama administration to increase the penalties for certain gun law violations, and add steps to the background checks for legal gun ownership.
Today the administration’s plans are beginning to come into effect. Through an Executive Order, the Obama administration is implementing new restrictions on the sale of certain weapons in border states, and increasing the penalties for violating certain firearms laws.
Fox News is reporting on the purpose of the gun control executive orders:
“In an effort to stem the illicit flow of weapons into Mexico, the Justice Department announced Monday that all gun shops in four Southwest border states will be required to alert the federal government to frequent buyers of high-powered rifles.
Under the new policy, federal firearms licensees in Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico must report purchases of two or more of some types of rifles by the same person in a five-day span. The requirement applies to purchases of semi-automatic rifles that have detachable magazines and a caliber of greater than .22.
ATF estimates it will generate 18,000 reports a year. ATF will retain the information and if no investigative leads have been realized after two years, it will be purged.”
The Daily Beast seems to have the inside track on more Executive Orders, however, claiming recent conversations with administration officials. TDB says the upcoming Executive Orders will have more impact than what Fox outlines above, including:
“A national electronic system designed to make background checks for handgun buyers simpler and faster, leaving an electronic paper trail. [And] Tougher sentencing guidelines for straw buyers that Holder’s department pushed through procedural hoops at the U.S. Sentencing Commission earlier this year.”
The Executive Orders come in the middle of the “Fast and Furious” scandal currently plaguing the administration. Already, there is talk on Capitol Hill of a cover-up at the highest levels of government, and it appears to some that the administration was feeding the lethal problem of firearms trafficking it ostensibly intended to address with “Fast and Furious.”
The question remains- if these Executive Orders are ‘common sense’ measures as the administration claims, why not let Congress enact them as laws? And if they are minor tweaks to existing law as others claim, are they necessary at all?
As background, here is a short clip of Obama in 2004 on gun control. He agrees that the second amendment means…something, but beyond that, the details get hazy.

Waters that were being drilled in only because the gov told oil companies they could not drill in shallow water. But as we can plainly see a progressive left and a progressive right is is killing the country. It reminds me of the south park episode where they voted on a gaint douche or turd sandwich for school mascot.
With game changers like the tea party growing there is hope of a shrinking government. The alternative is full on revolution and that will be the hail mary if all else fails. Millions are waking up and seeing America and what government is doing to destroy it let’s hope they vote with ballots and there will be no need for voting with bullets.

My husband bought his first gun just recently and learning how to shoot, etc. And he is not the “type” that likes to shoot or whatever and is a very realistic, common sense guy. So when he did that, that alarmed me even more. He sees the danger & what’s happening. Rush says he’s like a “one man wrecking ball” – causes so much division, anger, frustration, destruction, class warfare – more than has ever been done I think.

Just wait until they put out the laws governing the sale of guns to people with mental problems. The gun shops will be forced to ask your political affiliation and if you are anything other than liberal or progressive, you will be considered to have a mental illness and not able to own a gun. He says he wants to monitor large caliber rifles but he inculdes 22 cal. in that definition. Since when is a 22 a large caliber weapon? I say then bring on the MHR 17 cal. with extra and increased clip sizes.

I think you are wrong. A lot of people was supportive of the Bush administration but have changed their views considerably. Admittedly, I am one of those people. I don’t believe that Bush damaged the country as badly as Obama, but I do not believe that MANY US presidents, dating back decades, upheld the constitution. It is not the people’s fault that they did not see this coming until now when the powers-that-be have purposefully distorted history to influence their beliefs and otherwise behaviors. For many of us, it not a double standard, its just we have been in the dark for so long regarding the intentions of our leaders.

President Obama is not looking out for our best interest interpreting the US Constitution in accordance with his own personal agenda. He is abusing his executive powers by making our US Constitutional rights subject to interpretation of his executive laws.
The ATF, with the approval of the DOJ, illegally sold firearms to drug cartels in Mexico that have been used to kill thousands of Mexican citizens and some American citizens on American soil. The head of the ATF was forced to resign, yet Eric Holder remains calmly seated in his office protected by the POTUS. He’s a criminal and a traitor that should be removed immediately from the office of the Attorney General, prosecuted and imprisoned for his crimes.
Executive Orders signed by the POTUS can not and should not be obeyed or enforced if they conflict with the US Constitution. Obama took a sworn oath to preserve, protect and defend the US Constitution from all enemies domestic or foreign. With his “executive orders” that are in direct discord and conflict with the US Constitution Obama has become a domestic enemy of the US Constitution that he swore to preserve, protect and defend.

Moreover, the second amendment CLEARLY states that a militia is NEEDED so that we remain free. Why? Because without one we instead get a federalized “national guard”, police state and the government we have today. You make the assumption that the security of a free state is past tense and not continually needed for all time. The fact that we have a federalized national guard and that militias are constantly discouraged or maligned, is the first violation of the second amendment. It’s actually quite simple if you stop “interpreting”:

Unfortunately, most, not all, of the non-National Guard portion of the malitia has at the core hate group thinking, primarily against Jews, blacks and latinos.
The focus of the malitia should be the same as our military–to protect and defend the Constituion of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

The National Guard… the NATIONAL guard, is NOT militia in any way shape or form. Not even remotely close. The militia is/was armed CITIZENS. Whose rights shall not be infringed? THE PEOPLE’S. Not, the national guard’s right.
Article I, Section 8, Paragraph 12: “[The Congress shall have the power] “to raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years.”
No permanent standing army is permitted. Thus the police are a clear violation. The need for a militia of PEOPLE is needed because there are to be no PERMANENT standing armies. The second amendment is a GUARANTEE that there should be no gun CONTROL laws for free men(not incarcerated). It is also a REQUIREMENT that there should be militia usage; not that a militia is a requirement for arming yourself. I have the greatest respect for those that serve in the armed forces(not police) and do not wish to malign them.

Well Obama IS ACTUALLY a marxist at heart, so….. it’s kind of legit to say that. Bush did some dumb stuff catering to the one world sympathetic crowd he is prone to associate with, but he wasn’t a marxist educated youth with a radical 1960s agenda for America. If anything Bush was gullable, not a marxist. Granted this particular order isn’t the end of gun rights altogether, it is a starting point with questionable motives and results. If the results of gun controlled cities like Chicago, Detroit, and New York are any indicator of how well people like Obama can “protect” us then I’d rather keep my gun rights complete and protect myself. I can prove that restrictions like these are useless, but it’s a lengthy read.

I have considered your viewpoint many times. And while only a few short years ago I could honestly say that I could never get that angered or threaten, today, I am quite certain that if it comes to that I believe I could. I have decided that life would NOT be worth living if freedom was not apart of it. The tipping point will definitely be the 2nd amendment. Once the people are disarmed they will have no protection and every aspect of life will be at the whim of their leaders. The powers-that-be are systematically taking away the peoples ability to protect themselves. I fear that the disarmament of citizens is so slow and stealth-like; however, that many people will not realize it until it is too late. The question of weather or not they have the guts to fight will be made moot.

Is he even saying it is ‘something’ he agrees with, or is it ‘something’ he disgrees with? Just ‘something’. So much for the Constitutional scholars weighty response to the question about what his position on gun control is. He chooses his words carefully. There is much evidence that Obama has an agenda – bolstered by his repeated actions that assault our freedoms ensured under the Constitution as in his addition of language in NDAA which was wholly unnecessary and puts American citizens at risk for indefinate detention. Pay attention to all he does, the groups he selects to go after, the church for one, how one action builds against another, the divisions he creates. He couldn’t do a worse job if he tried. And that’s the point.

The dealers CALLED the ATF with their concerns about the purchases of these weapons and were told to just go ahead with the sales. When those who purchased the guns were seen prior to crossing the border into Mexico, the ATF agents were instructed to allow them to proceed by_______?!?!? The Department of Justice?!?

Also executive order does not prevent anyone from buying guns, it just amps up the background checks and helps to ensure that criminals don’t get guns. If you read the executive order you would understand that. Then again, since you are Glenn Beck fans, you obviously don’t read.

The president is over reaching his executive mandate, and executive orders only stand in federal matters. Again, States are not obligated if they feel that their laws are enough. As individuals, we are spread all over 50 states. The government will come after us individually and that is the problem. I believe neighbor will turn in neighbor for whatever incentive the gov’t gives them. With all the data the gov’t collects and stores in its databases, they know who has what and how many. It will be a matter of going underground to survive. Most of America is apathetic and asleep at the wheel. They’re looking for their next meal and where to entertain themselves.
