Obama Flubs Speech to Troops By Claiming Dead Soldier is Alive

President Obama flubbed his remarks to troops at Fort Drum Thursday when he told the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division about the time he awarded the first Medal of Honor to someone not receiving it posthumously. The medal, he said, went to Jared Monti. The only issue is that Jared Monti died in service in Afghanistan, and did in fact receive the medal posthumously.
CBN News, which first reported the gaffe, provides the transcript of the President’s speech:
“Throughout my service, first as a senator and then as a presidential candidate and then as a President, I’ve always run into you guys. And for some reason it’s always in some rough spots.
First time I saw 10th Mountain Division, you guys were in southern Iraq. When I went back to visit Afghanistan, you guys were the first ones there. I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.”

CBN News contacted the White House but was told the President did not have any prepared remarks. However, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney admitted the president made a mistake:
“At Fort Drum, the President misspoke when discussing the first Medal of Honor he presented posthumously to Jared Monti, who was a member of the 10th Mountain Division. The President paid tribute to Monti in his remarks to troops in Afghanistan in March 2010. Last year, the President presented the Medal of Honor to Salvatore Giunta, who was the first living recipient of the Medal who served in Afghanistan.”
As mentioned by Carney, the Military Times believes Obama may have confused Monti with the only living Medal of Honor recipient, Sal Giunta, and reports that Monti, leading a scouting mission along the Pakistan border, rescued two soldiers before he was killed by an enemy grenade.
The Times may have summed it up best when, at the end of its piece, it noted “the least we can do for our honored dead is to remember them.”

As badly as I feel for this man’s family having to listen to this idiot profane the name of their departed soldier, I am happy that this grandstand stunt blew up in the Eared One’s face. And that, my friend, is why he has sent so many of our troops to fight over there and anywhere ELSE he can keep them busy–because if/when he is able to declare martial law to prevent the 2012 elections taking place, he is not at all sure the military would support him and enforce it by firing on civilians, so he has to keep them out of the country, which, you notice, he plans to do until well after the election-that-may-never-happen is over.
Why do you think he is so keen on a “civilian force that is as large and as well-armed as our military?”, and is trying so hard to find a way around the Second Amendment–even sneaking around trying to get the UN to do his disarming for him because he couldn’t get Congress to do it?

They have staff to do that sort of thing for them, though Obama probably doesn’t. All the Marxist a$$ holes HE appointed are too busy violating the Constitution and trying to destroy our country to do any fact-checking.
But the bottom line is, this president does not give a damn for our troops, alive or dead. This was all about him, and another photo op with some troops in the background. (Who likely had no choice but to be there, no matter how they felt about it). So why should he bother to make sure he had the name right–the soldiers who gave their lives are nothing to him–their families are nothing to him. This was all about HIM and getting his face in front of a camera for another photo op, with some real Americans in the background in hopes that people would mistake him for one, too. Narcissicistic a$$ hole.

He retired in 1974 and is no longer with us. I know ALL about the military thank you very much. My 4 brothers and sisters and I were yanked all over this country and Europe so don‘t tell me I don’t know what I am talking about.

Obama received his governing experience from his anti-american radical friends like Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn. He acquired his military tactics and strategy while serving on the front lines in the indignent areas of Chicago as a radical communist community organizer. He has an extraordinary ability to trample on all that we patriotic Americans love about the USA.
As Commander-in-Chief of all US military forces his arrogance and political ambition surpass the many years of military experience of his generals. Soon he’ll be struting around in an elaborate military uniform designed by Michelle and decorated with patches and medals of a variety of colors and sizes like ex-dictator of Uganda Amim Dada or current Libyan dictator Kaddaffi.
His recent speech to Army personel in which he claimed he presented the Congressional Medal of Honor to the only living recipient ( who actually died in combat ) was ludicrous and shameful. Perhaps

Yes they can be & no you don’t.
I’ve been in a military family for 30 years, as both wife & mother. A husband (25 years – retired) & 2 sons (so far, 12 years & 8 years). And we’ve just added a soon to be daughter-in-law who is also a soldier (almost 8 years). All together, 6 active combat tours and several non-combat foreign & domestic tours.
Many times a small group of soldiers (or their full units/platoons/squadrons) were told (ordered) to sit on or stand behind the podium for visiting politicians, members of congress, various US officials, dignataries and US Presidents. My family was/is in some of those units. Happened both at home & in Iraq (first Gulf War & current Iraq/Afghanistan wars).
Of course the orders were sugar coated in “you’ve been selected“ ”you have the honor of” – but they were orders all the same & nobody got to say No Thank You. There was no “boot licking” involved.
I honor & salute your father’s service to our country. He & your family have my deepest respect.

What all of you have failed to realize is that Obama, the fool, had it right on both occasions when all the rest of you, including Glenn, had it wrong. It is not the “Congressional” Medal of Honor. It it simple the Medal of Honor. It is awarded by the PONTUS in the name of Congress. By the very nature of what is required to receive the honor, less than half of the Medals have been awarded in person since 1941. Google it.
