Obama Fundraising Initiative: Celebrate Your Wedding by Donating to Obama

When it comes to the 2012 campaign, team Obama has made more than their fair share of embarrassing gaffes. Chronicling them would take thousands of words, though certainly such hits as Attack Watch and the Life of Julia stand out. However, those gaffes, idiotic though they may have been, at least had a rationale behind them that was discernible, if stupid.

This is most unequivocally not the case when it comes to the Obama team’s most recent fundraising initiative. It is impossible to dream up a rationale for it without sounding silly. It can‘t really be set up in any way that softens the incredulity you’ll feel looking at it. So we’ll just repost an image below and let you see:

Obama Campaign Tries to Fundraise Using Weddings, Birthdays and AnniversariesSo many questions abound after reading this short message, “Why” being chief among them. Why should a wedding correlate with donating to the President? Along with “saving jobs,” is the President now claiming credit for every wedding officiated on his watch? How does he statistically measure “wedding creation” if he is? If you divorce, does that mean you can ask for your money back? Why do anniversaries correlate to donating? Why do birthdays? Why, why, why?

Oh, and did you notice that creepy “It’s a gift we can all enjoy” part, as though by giving money to the President, you’re giving a gift to the entire country? Talk about a sinister idea. No matter how much of a patriot you are, we doubt you want the entire country crashing your wedding party, asking for a gift they can “all enjoy.” It’s your anniversary/wedding/birthday, after all, not theirs. If you want a gravy bowl instead of four more years of gravy for lobbyists, that’s your right.

But wait, there’s more. National Review’s Daniel Foster links to this fundraising email that attempts to fundraise off of (of all things) Obama’s happy marriage:

For the first 10 years of our marriage, Barack and I lived in an apartment in my hometown of Chicago.

The winters there can be pretty harsh, but no matter how snowy or icy it got, Barack would head out into the cold — shovel in hand — to dig my car out before I went to work.

In all our years of marriage, he’s always looked out for me. Now, I see that same commitment every day to you and to this country.

The only way we’ll win this election is if we can rely on one another like that, all the way to November 6th.

You should know that your recent donation means a lot to both of us.

Again, the big question is, why? Why does Obama shoveling snow years and years ago make him a good President now? What does this have to do with his record at all? If it doesn’t have anything to do with his record, why bring it up? Why?

We wish we had an answer. Unfortunately, dreaming one up is proving prohibitively difficult.

      Not only is this creepy but there were advertisements popping up with a message to ‘Wish your President a Happy Father’s day!‘ Displayed in the center was a picture of the Obama’s and their children ……obviously the picture was taken many years ago because the children were still toddlers. This is all odd and America needs to pay attention and read or reacquaint with German history.

      I had come to the conclusion that Obama and his campaign money raisers had sunk as low as they could sink. However, with this recent revelation I found out I was wrong.

      How about instead of giving the kids a Christmas present this coming Christmas, give Obama a gift in lieu of a campaign donation.

      How narcissist, selfish and egocentric can a person be? I guess we’ve yet to find out from Obama. I‘m not only angy but embarrassed that he’s the President of my great country.

      I don’t understand why The Blaze is so deep in the realm of negative politics. I‘m beginning to think that there is not much to say for the conservative cause other than that it’s not Obama’s. Every politician and their mother raises money in all sorts of ways. People are going to give money anyways, and if you and your significant other are especially interested in politics and want to help the campaign, it seems like a nice way to give money that you may be giving anyway.

      I would be happy to suggest that hosts and hostesses pack up all the garbage from their parties (receptions, etc.) and ship it to the Obama campaign. They can rummage through for anything that can be recycled….a few pennies here and there. ANYONE HAVE AN ADDRESS???

      For those here that don’t know it, Mitt and Ann Romney *were* poor while they went to college. At BYU, they lived in a basement apartment that had no carpet. Ann got discarded sample pieces and stitched together a rug to cover some of the floor.

      While at Harvard, Mitt, while taking care of his wife and 2 (or 3?) boys at the time, worked nights as a janitor. So people who say Mitt and Ann can’t relate to the poor or middle class are deluding themselves.
