Obama: GOP Wants to Turn Back the Clock on Women Instead of Focus on Jobs

President Barack Obama charged Republicans with being more concerned about blocking health care for women than putting the country back to work.

Speaking to the National Women’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. Wednesday, Obama said Republicans should be supporting his jobs plan but are more focused with undoing the health care law and trying to defund Planned Parenthood, CNS News reported.

“They’re spending time focusing on how to turn back the clock,” Obama said. “Instead of figuring out how to put more Americans back to work, they’ve been trying to figure out how to take away preventive care that is covered under the Affordable Care Act. Instead of making life easier for women in this country, they want to let insurance companies go back to charging higher prices just because you’re a woman.”

Defending government funding of Planned Parenthood, he added: “Instead of working to boost our economy, they’re out there spending time trying to defund Planned Parenthood and prevent millions of women from getting basic health care that they desperately need –– pap smears and breast exams.”

“These folks know know they can‘t win on the big issues so they’re trying to make the fight about social issues that stir up their base,” Obama said.

Over the summer, the Obama administration signed off on a recommendation requiring all insurance companies to cover the cost of contraceptives as part of preventative care for women. Conservative groups have heaped criticism on the administration, including the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops who called it an “unprecedented attack on religious liberty.”

Obama also told his audience Wednesday that though many positive strides have been made for women, there is still “a lot more work to do.”

“Change doesn’t always happen quickly or easily,” he said. “It’s laborious, sometimes it’s frustrating, but it’s real.”

Imploring the audience to stay on their members of Congress and demand action on his jobs plan, he vowed to keep doing everything he can to “help every single American achieve their own piece of the American Dream” in a “world where every door is open” for American women.

“We’ve got to make sure that…somebody is standing up for [women], somebody is fighting for them, somebody is looking out for them,” Obama said.

      No one got a settlement the NRA did pay the two to just go away and I believe it was state that they got 5 digit payments which means anything from 10,000-99,000. If they had anything close to an honest case they their lawyers would have atleast held out for 6 digits. Bottom line is Clinton lied under oath and the left rallied around him. Paid off several sexual alligation law suits and the left rallied around him. But hypocracy is alway the left’s strong point it flows from their highest elected officals to their lowest member.

      Alot of what you call GOP members voted against the bill because it didn’t allow victims of rape,incest or case where a mother’s life was in danger to get a procedure. Maybe if you looked at what most pro-lifers believe you‘ld see that most aren’t against abortion in those cases. They are against abortion as a means of birth control. And as far as rapist’s rights go most GOP members would agree that castration chemically or medically is the only right that rapist deserve. It would be a regular practice for people convicted of two or more rapes if you assanine liberals and the ACLU would stop defending rapers rights to rape.

    Not that I agree with everything he says, but much of the focus since the GOP took the house and won many other elections last year the focus HAS been on social issues instead of jobs.

    Boy, it’s a good thing we spent time reading the constitution (other than the part about slavery) and reaffirmed “In God We Trust” instead of doing actual work.

      I would say that if either side levies attacks in fact then I’m fine with it. When either side uses rhetoric like this then I am not. Two wrongs don’t make a right. If I was Obama I think I would be more concerned at defending my horrible and unpopular track record of performance and ramrodding unconstitutional legislation down people’s throats. He had a super majority for over two years and he is still blaming republican and people like you still carry that torch.

      All of our economic problems are directly related to the lefts social agenda……to counter that agenda we must go back to the principles of taking care of oursevles, each other, personal responsibilty, putting the role of govenment back into the bounds of the constitution.

      Actually, I don’t carry the torch for Obama. I have my beliefs and his don’t always go along with mine. But I also point out when the two sides are being hypocritical and I don’t try and stick up for one side over the other if I know they are in the wrong.

      I guess the 22 bills that did not contain raising taxed that Harry Reid decided to table in the senate does not count as doing work.
      I guess you also did not know thatfo the first month and a half that Obama was out parrroting his rhetoric about his jobs bill that the bill had not even been introduced for a vote.

      I agree that all of the politicians are crud, but seriously? The work is being done, even if you do not see it in the MSM

      I’ve followed your posts and in the past I thanked and showed you respect. Once again I will thank you for your service.

      However, after reading many of your posts, I don’t think you have a true handle on what America stands for and the good people that made this nation. It is not about slander and collectivism (what you support) it is about morals, values and ingenuity of the individual.

      I believe you come on here and take advantage of the good nature of the kind folks on this site. BTW, your screen name screams out desire for attention and being different. Completely different mentality from all my Marine buddies and military friends that I have.

    Obama is an idiot. I‘m a friggin’ woman. And my clock is on the right time. I don’t have a RIGHT to birth control. I have a right to liberty. And one of those liberties is getting to have sex, if I so choose. And when you have sex, kids, you MIGHT get knocked up. That is called a consequence of action. Another liberty is choosing what to do after sex if I get knocked up. The government should not mandate any sort of birth control whatsoever, via ObamaCare. If you have sex, do it safely and responsibly. No more government interference in what the people should be deciding for themselves!!! No more handouts!!! Be responsible for your own choices!!
