WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is exhorting a Florida minister to “listen to those better angels” and call off his plan to engage in a Quran-burning protest this weekend.
Obama tells ABC’s “Good Morning America” he hopes the Rev. Terry Jones listens to the pleas of people who have asked him to call off the plan. The president called it a “stunt.”
Obama also said in the interview broadcast Thursday morning that what Jones proposes “is completely contrary to our values as Americans. This country has been built on the notion of freedom and religious tolerance.”
Obama declared: “This is a recruitment bonanza for al-Qaida.”

I too feel that the fringes of Islam will become our enemy over the next 10 years but i find it Sad that “christians” have given up the Good Fight….to be set apart from the World….instead it takes “stunt” of burning a copy of their doctrines to rouse up Courage!!! This Pastor i Hope, would Seek the Face of the Creator as Fervently as he wishes to be a public spectacle over destroying their idols…this Pastor i Hope, would Seek to Honor our Creator and His Commandments as Fervently as he wishes to prove his point…..what “sunday” does this assembly meet????????

( I Follow the Christ, I Follow the Torah as much as i can ) if you do read the Bible and you have the Holy Spirit revealing to you the truth then you would see and understand this. If one loves the Lord Jesus then that one should not be ashamed to proclaim it and try to tell others about Him. I don’t understand how anyone can say that they love God but deny the Lord Jesus ( I Corinthians 16:22 ) If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:47amIt is South Park all over again. A few years ago South Park wanted to show Mohammed in a Pepsi Commercial and the censors wouldn’t allow it so South Park rewrote the episode with the final scene being Jesus Christ defecating on an American Flag and the censors allowed that. Well here we go again with the exception that it is now on a national level instead of a comedy show. To me burning the Koran now has become a test of how much freedom we actually have compared to the Muslims. Now I wish I was at least there to help this nut case preacher.

The cult leader created laws to promote his evil wishes, then killed those who did not kiss his A^&. How can so many people follow such a evil person and not follow a person of love and devotion Christ himself?

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:38amC’mon folks…this issue shouldn’t even be debated. Were someone to burn the bible, in protest against radically violent Christians (yes, they do exist), how would that make you feel? Bottom line is, this just isn’t right. To insult an entire religion, when your beef is with individuals, is nothing but blind hatred. I hope to be a better person than that.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 10:45amI don’t agree. We have the right to express our dislike for ideas, even if those ideas have been packaged in a pretty book. Would it be okay for a bunch of freedom-loving Americans to burn copies of Mein Kampf? Is it okay to dislike some ideas so much that we hate them? How about we burn a copy of Karl Marx’s communist manifesto? Some of us don’t care much for the radical side of Islam, and burning a book that they use to justify killing Americans is simply making a very blunt point. And in America, we can do that.

I do not agree with this pastor’s action, however, I do agree with his right to be able to do it. It is free speech. Free speech ALWAYS OFFENDS, which is why it had to be protected in the first place.

Why doesn’t Obama come out and say he supports the right to burn the koran, it is free speach and a core principle of our nation. He doesn’t have to speak to the wisdom of burning the koran. What happen to the all important sacred first ammendment? Hipocrit is the word that comes to mind.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:30amReplace “Obama” with “Bush.” Would your reaction be the same? It’s a good habit to get into; it helps identify whether you are reacting to the position or the speaker.
That said, his logic is flawed. Better angels? Really? What does he or anyone, for that matter, know about better angels? It could well be that God is exhorting his angels to encourage the burning of books that are contrary to the Bible and leading millions into damnation every day. It is a stretch to assume that we know what‘s on God’s mind.
And to hear Obama cite freedom as a justification elicits an amused look and a raised eyebrow. His notion of freedom differs from that of Americans who are better grounded in the country’s history and principles.
The only relevant argument I’ve heard thus far has to do with putting American soldiers at risk, and the time to avoid that in this saga has come and gone. The general would have better served our troops by voicing his concern through private channels. Once he lent his voice to the public discussion, the visibility of the issue was raised and with it the danger to our troops, whether the book burning proceeds or not.

Trial by a federal court where the rules of evidence are so strict that some witnesses can’t testify? Right! If they were tried in a military court as they deserve, anything that the government has is perfectly legal to use no matter how it was obtained. Obama seems to be hoping that a lot of these people get off. More appeasement for the Muslims?

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:06amBy this logic, we should be able to tell the mosque builders (near ground zero) not to build the mosque because it could incite violence in America. I’m not saying it will, just that it might. But the problem with this issue is that we are all supposed to stay quiet and not be offended by what parts of Islam are about (shariah law), because then we’ll be provoking the terrorists to violence. Why doesn’t Comrade Obama suggest that we surrender ourselves and our culture to radical Islam, just to make sure we really don’t offend them? Sure, let’s be super polite in fear that speaking our minds might instigate more Jihad. Good logic, sir.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 2:33pmI hate to be “that person” but we are a nation of laws. So unfortunately it comes down to ‘IS IT CONSTITUTIONAL OR ISN’T IT’? No one wants their rights violated, but lately it seems like it‘s more important for us to yield to political correctness because no one wants to be slapped in the face by someone else’s blatent insensitivity. If we want to be what we were intended to be then we have to celebrate the right of an American citizen to burn a copy of the Koran, a Bible or an American Flag in protest. We don’t write laws based on the emotions associated with acts or crimes against individuals, we write them based on the God given rights of individuals for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. So if burning a copy of the Koran makes this guys week seem a little better, go for it. But to let the media get a hold of the story was just irresponsible. The fact of the matter is, there are people out there who not only want to see the country of Israel wiped off of the globe, but to see all God fearing Americans DEAD. Whether we believe radical Islam will usher in the 12th Imam or not, THEY believe they can and will, and wiping out Americans and Isralies is how they will do it. To me this story is more about responsible journalism than some idiots right to build a mosque or another idiots right to burn a book.
