Obama Insinuates Republicans to Blame for Economic Woes

President Obama seemed to insinuate on Monday afternoon who he thinks is at fault for the recent economic trouble in Washington.
Speaking at a press conference regarding S&P’s credit downgrade, Obama blasted those responsible for the “gridlock” in Washington, which recently has been code for the holdout staged by the Republicans during the recent debt ceiling debate.
Here’s what he had to say:
“We didn’t need a ratings agency to tell us that the gridlock in Washington over the last several months has not been constructive, to say the least. We knew from the outset that a prolonged debate over the debt ceiling, a debate where the threat of default was used as a bargaining chip, could do enormous damage to the economy and the world’s. That threat, coming after a string of economic disruptions in Europe, Japan, and the Middle East, has now roiled the markets, and dampened consumer confidence, and slowed the pace of recover. So all of this is a legitimate cause for concern.”
The president’s speech sounded all too familiar to National Review:
Echoing his fellow Democrats on yesterday’s talk shows, Obama blamed “a prolonged debate, where the threat of default was used as a bargaining chip” for the downgrade. “That threat . . . has now roiled the markets,” he said.

The problem wasn’t a lack of ideas, but a lack of will. There was too much “insistence on drawing lines in the sand” — a “refusal to put what’s best for the country ahead of self-interest, or party, or ideology.”
Mediaite’s Colby Hall agrees:
The president did not mention the Tea Party by name (which he never really does), but he did call out those who refused to put what’s best for the country ahead of party or ideology. Many inside the beltway, and elsewhere, see this as the Tea Party’s role in the recent debt crisis, which ostensibly led to the credit downgrade.
But besides pointing fingers, the president also repeated one of his favorite mantras from the past few months: that the rich must pay more taxes (or their “fair share”). In fact, he boldly defied those who think that spending is the main problem. Watch it below:
Obama’s speech, however, seemed to do little to restore confidence. The markets tanked almost immediately after the speech. The Dow dipped below 11,000 and even lost 600 points on the day at one point.

If I were in the house I would pass stand alone balance budget amendment, any spending bills I can (reducing spending), opening energy all over the US, anything that is proven pro growth, pro jobs, and pro America and let Obama counter it… I know the Senate will take up nothing, but atleast the republicans can continue to say they are trying and the left is not doing anything as we who watch have seen.

Don’t worry about typographical errors and start worrying about what this know-nothing, commnity organizer and his Keystone Kops administration is doing to us. You realize he is in over his head but have no other choice. You just “hope” the situation “changes.”

He opened with the expected assault on S&P that this administration first reacted with. “we don’t need a ratings agency to tell us..”. He blamed tsunamis, Europe and the “prolonged debate that held the debt ceiling hostage”. He blamed Bush. He didn’t blame himself. He later launched into his all too familiar “tax reforms”..meaning tax hikes and extending unemployment benefits. In short…tax and spend. He mentioned medicare needs to be looked into..again no specifics because he wants to play chicken with the GOP on that one. Never once did he mention that Paul Ryan’s budget which does address Medicare and entitlements was shelved immediately by Harry Reid in the senate without a vote. Never once does he mention the GOP’s first debt ceiling plan which again Harry Reid shelved in the Senate without any debate. What we saw was a defeated Obama. He has no answers. To do what truly needs to be done he would have to alienate his far left base, caring only for his re-election campaign, that’s simply out of the question for him. Believe me…you could actually sense that Obama is a defeated man right now. When he walked away from the lecturn, he left in silence and took no questions. He’s on his way to being the most reviled and mocked president this country has ever seen.

The other credit rating orgs didn’t downgrade at this point anyway. Why only S&P? Makes you wonder…

Yes, I do believe this. At some point 2+2=4 (in real math, not Geithner math), he said he was going to do this while campaigning, many didn’t listen. There is nothing worse he could do to “level the playing field” with the world then to ruin our economy.
They didn’t see the Tea Party coming, but they are learning to work around it.

I hated the thought of reading a book about Obama but I ended up reading it twice in 3 days and started a 3rd time before I loaned it to a friend who read it twice and passed it on.
