Obama Uses Sasha & Malia in Response to Limbaugh Controversy Over Sandra Fluke

Speaking in response to conservative firebrand Rush Limbaugh’s recent comments about Georgetown University agitator Sandra Fluke, President Obama used the opportunity to draw reference to his own daughters, Sasha and Malia, saying he would never “want them attacked or called horrible names” for simply being “good citizens.”
Obama stated:
I can comment on the fact that all good folks can agree that the remarks that were made don’t have any place in the public discourse. And you know, the reason I called Ms. Fluke is because I thought about my daughters, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way… I do not want them attacked or called horrible names because they are being good citizens, and I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her, and that we want to send a message to all of our young people that being part of a democracy involves argument and disagreements and debate, and we want you to be engaged, and there’s a way to do it that doesn’t involve you being demeaned and insulted, particularly when you are a private citizen.

I want a president that worries with these issues.
Spending – Cut a trillion off the budget first year.
Debt – Have the budget balanced in 3 years while paying down debt.
War – End the overseas wars that dont seem to end. Stop the nation building and global police force.
Freedoms – We are losing freedoms weekly it seems and we have people like West and Rubio going along with it for our own good. We need to wake up and listen to what a pretty smart man once said..

Being a “Good Citizen” would mean being less invasive on your fellow citizens by demanding that they pay for your stuff. I mean, woman spent the sexual revolution to become independent and self sufficient. Am I wrong? Why would a true feminist contribute to a system that will make the males pay for 75% of their BC? I say 75% because men do not need BC so they will be not paying for theirs but all the women’s BC. Even if 50% of the population are males, I am willing to bet that most males that are single do not have children (or are given custody). Also, thanks to such high divorce rates, single males are more inclined to have to pay taxes as they would not qualify for EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit). Seeing as Single mothers are a large portion of EITC, they generally pay no taxes and get more taxes then they paid into the system. This means that men will be sharing the brunt of taxation to pay for the female “medical needs” of BC. The 75% is not a scientific number, but a pretty good guess-timation.
So Barry, how is asking for this being a “Good Citizen” again?

Posted on March 6, 2012 at 3:46pmBe fair, Gonzo; both sides do it. Palin’s family was a huge focus in 2008; she made being a successful mother as well as politician one of her key features. Santorum’s done the same in 2012; arguing that he’s been homeschooling his children to give them proper values, recounting the story of his family dealing with the death of his newborn son as his reason for opposing pre-natal screening, etc.
I don’t like it either; Obama’s always used his family in this way. But any politician with a good family life does it; they‘ll take any advantage that’s available. It’s hardly one side or the other (in fact, I’d argue that since conservatives tend to have good family values, they do it more often).
