Obama: Its Not Fair That Catholic Employers Would Deny Women Contraception Coverage

Fresh off his Supreme Court health care win, President Barack Obama isn’t backing down — particularly when it comes to the controversial contraceptive mandate. On Monday, he was interviewed by local news anchors from eight television markets across America. During a discussion with WWL-TV in New Orleans, he doubled-down on his stance on the mandate.

Earlier today, we told you about this same interview, during which he used the word “hurricane” to describe the economy (lest we remind you that Karen Swensen, the anchor who conducted the dialogue, is from a locality that was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina not all that long ago).

Here’s how the dialogue unfolded when it came to contraception, as documented by Mediaite:

…WWL’s Karen Swenson brought along some questions from her viewers, as well.

“(Viewer Michael Varino) describes himself as a Catholic voter and wrote ‘What can you say about a healthcare bill that’ll mandate insurance companies to provide birth control, sterilization, etc. to employees of Catholic universities, hospitals and churches since this goes against the Catholic religion?’” Swenson said. “We know there is compromising language in place. Some say it doesn’t go far enough and that the real, the much bigger issue is religious liberty, not contraception.”

“Yeah. Well it’s absolutely true that religious liberty is critical,” the President replied, before correcting a falsehood that was embedded in the question. “That’s the reason why we exempted churches, we exempted religious institutions.

Obama went on to say that large, religiously-affiliated hospitals or universities that employ non-Catholics and that receive federal money should be covering contraception. He called the notion that a woman would be faced with bearing “the burden and the cost” simply unjust. “That’s not fair, Obama proclaimed.”

      Whenever confronted with this I always tell the woman in question; ” Sleeping with a man who can’t afford a condom is only a small fraction of your bad decisions.” Not making many female friends that why. Considering the choices made by the ones getting upset, I’m probably better off.

      Obama believe’s in collective salvation, which he learned from a hate filled preacher, which is why he wants you to go to work so that you can assist in the removal of a human soul from our Earthly realm. In his opinion, it’s better for the collective, which includes you, so you must do your part in the killing of babies for the collective’s sake. That‘s this man’s philosophy and it shouldn’t shock anyone, when he was first elected he wore the philosophy on his sleeve. Unfortunately most people didn’t understand what collective salvation meant, but the words sounded pretty so they didn’t mind it.

      Now, when we analyze the roots of this president’s beliefs, we can quickly realize that one man‘s salvation can easily be another man’s damnation. By forcing his own warped, shaped by hate, philosophy on us Obama believes he is saving himself. In reality, he’s placing America and her countrymen firmly in the hands of the beast and paving his own path way to hell with unsound and ill thought out intentions.

      I pray he one day realizes his errors and begs for redemption. His very soul depends on it.

      I’m also praying for my own soul, as I well know I’m assisting this sinister behavior with every dollar of income I earn. With every minute worked, I’m assisting in this vile sin. All of us who earn are. It’s almost like, if you want to not assist this evil, you have to not work.

      Just one more reason Obama gives us to collect food stamps and EBT cards.

      Mr President: please define “fair” for me? I am but a simple american who has not had the benefits you have enjoyed in your illustrious educational career, even though my college careers are open to view to anyone who chooses to verify that I in fact graduated not once but twice from college. Fair? what does it mean? Why the very same thing ‘hope and change’ meant in the last election I’ll wager. Fair means whatever value or condition someone wants to assign to the word. Fair to the prez likely means doing whatever HE has deigned for us little people to have or not have.
      Where is the ACLU when someone really needs them? the government is clearly trampling all over the sacred “separation of church and state” non-existent clause of the Constitution and where are the champions of ‘snivel’ liberties? Off persecuting some restaurant owner who wants to give a discount to church goers who can produce a church bulletin most likely..or snuggling up to the Episcopal church because of their “heroic” stance against God’s order for life by sanctioning a union God says is an abomination to Him. evil is good and good is evil anyone? the book of Revelation is unfolding before your very eyes!

      When is he gonna get it that nothing in this world is fair? We are NEVER all going to be equal and there are some things that will never be fair? God created us equal as human beings, but that is where it ends! Some will be rich, some will be poor. Some can afford, others cannot. We, on our own, should be generous and helping each other. But the fair thing he keeps spewing is total and complete socialism, and dare I say it? Communism, plain and simple.

      It’s not fair that we have to pay for our own food…while girls with 70 dollar nail jobs swipe a food stamp card at the register so we get to pay for their food too. I don’t owe anyone with a 70 dollar fresh set of fingernails free anything. Don’t talk to me about the word fair Obama……every single time I go to the grocery store I see what your version of fairness is…..it’s complete horses*it.       You are all ignoring the real point. Employers should not be able to subvert health coverage because of self-proclaimed religious exceptionalism.

      Can a Scientology group deny their employees of ALL health coverage just because the religion itself does not believe in modern medicine? No! Imposing your religious belief on your employees is such an obvious abuse that it makes me sick to think I have to actually make this argument.

    But it is fair that he is taxing me beyond my desire? Is it fair that I can’t display and speak my feelings about religion? Is it fair that I have to pay women for contraception so they can hook up with anyone they desire for a night? Is it fair that my money goes to companies that were doomed to fail? is it fair that Border Patrol officers are killed trying to defent our borders but are told to not do their job or run away?

    What ever Obama says is a lot BS. You see what happens when you smoke dope. Your brain is fried .. you may look cool playing basketball, read a telepromter better than anyone else, look good on a golf course or swimming trunks, but you still a doper. God help us if he gets elected to a second term. I’m just one vote.

      @WMBOEHMER……I am a fairly conservative person at least when it comes to fiscal matters….but to be honest the Republicans should not get a free pass on their involvement in this “50 percent pay no federal income tax statistic”…..For example the Earned Income Tax Credit…perhaps one of the biggest frauds ever foisted upon all of us……the Democrats prop that up as “assistance from your friend Uncle Sam”…..and the Republicans to this day still refer to it as a “rebate” of taxes because “we” the Republicans want you to have more of your own money back…..the truth is that the EITC is a refundable credit and millions and millions of Americans get federal refunds much much larger than what they EVER paid in that year because of this Earned income Tax Credit……people earning 12 thousand a year are getting federal tax refunds close to 7 or 8 thousand dollars..and guess where that “extra” bonus money comes from? You and me and every other taxpayer.. ….the entire thing has been infected with fraud to the tune of tens and tens and tens of billions of dollars over the years….Like anything Health Care related why on Earth would the Revenue Collection mechanism of this country ever be so deeply involved in issuing what amount to “public assistance checks”? When you have a collection company that focuses a majority of its time and overhead writing checks instead of collecting them…..then you know something shaky is going on.

    If you don‘t like your employer’s health coverage, find another employer who has what you want. Or get your health care needs taken care of privately if your insurance won’t cover it. Why can’t a woman get birth control or abortion services at a Planned Parenthood? They exist for that. They charge their fees on a sliding scale.

    And as for institutions providing certain services, outside of employee insurance issues, why can’t people be smart enough to understand that a Catholic or religious health care institution will have different rules and ways to handle pregnancies, and even end of life care than a secular institution may. Just go to the one that does what you want. It’s easy enough to figure out.

      A Catholic hospital near my state is merging with a secular hospital, but the agreement is that the secular hospital will stop providing abortions. I know liberals are not happy with that.

      Obama care is forcing hospitals to merge to cut administrative costs.

      they are already suing Catholic institutions and private groups because they make people sign a “morality” pledge and fire them if they violate it….disallow openly gay employees (even though I am sure there are many gays in the Catholic Church as members and employees)….and for the fact that some Catholic Universities/schools require weekly church attendance regardless of your faith…

      the Catholic Church in the last decade or so has been under attack from all angles…public, private, and mainly OTHER supposedly Christian denominations that would rather attack other parts of the Body of Christ instead of those wanting to destroy the Whole Body!! Granted the Child Sex Scandals didn’t help the cause of bringing the different denominations together in unity…BUT…the instances of abuse in the Catholic Church is NO HIGHER than instances in any other denomination or the general public at large….LESS that the sex abuse scandals in the Kennedy family or the Congress in general though..MANY TIMES less….but that doesn’t matter to the general public Catholic haters or the MSM…
