Obama Offered Schwarzenegger a Cabinet Position

It’s been almost two years since former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said “hasta la vista, baby” to public office. And despite his now returning to Hollywood to star in “The Expendables 2,” apparently you shouldn’t count him out of the public arena yet. The Obama administration might call in Ah-nuld to become one of their cabinet secretaries.

Yes, really. How do we know? Because they already asked Schwarzenegger to do so once. The Wall Street Journal reports:

Mr. Schwarzenegger was approached by White House officials about a cabinet position around the time he left office in January 2011, according to people familiar with the matter.

The entreaty to the centrist Republican governor wasn’t completely out of the blue.

Mr. Schwarzenegger, who was in office for more than seven years and continues to promote his vision of “post-partisanship,” acknowledged earlier in his career that he’d welcome a cabinet post.

In July 2008, on ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, Mr. Schwarzenegger was asked whether he’d consider an energy-related cabinet position with the Obama administration, were Barack Obama, then a candidate, to win the presidency.

Mr. Schwarzenegger said he would, replying: “I’d take his call now, and I’d take his call when he’s president, anytime.”

So what was the post? No one knows yet. The White House has been contacted by Politico for comment, but nothing has resulted. However, given Schwarzenegger’s love of green energy, the most likely position would have been something related to energy production. Whether that would be at the EPA or the Energy Department or even the Commerce Department is anyone’s guess. John Bryson was nominated to the last post in 2011, and whereas Bryson was embroiled in controversy over his environmentalist past, it would be easy to see Schwarzenegger breezing through a confirmation hearing on the strength of his still exigent (but reduced) starpower.

Schwarzenegger’s Hollywood ticket is, at the moment, quite full, so it’s debatable whether this will ever happen again. Then again, you never know. As Arnold himself might say…

This clown waselected to straighten out thefinancesof California, because it was imploding economically.

He did just the opposite. His inability and ineptness nearly wrecked the economy all on his own.

He’d fit in nicely with the present administration.

What’s hilarious about this is that if Arnold had been picked for VP by Romney he would still be the “Terminator,“ ”one of America’s most popular entertainers,“ and the adulterous relationship would be so ”old news” for the right.

negative….. VP means ready and qualified to be president… Arnold wasn‘t born in the US and can’t be president. We republicans are funny like that… Hence the interest in Obama’s qualifications, being he has a birth certificate and selective service card that are questionable.. Oh and I forgot the Social Security number from a state he never lived in.

13th generation; if “green” technology was so great, so wonderful, why isn’t private industry doing it? Why does it take government to “help” private industry out with this actually 19th century technology?
Because it’s a loser, that’s why! And hasn’t Dear Leader thrown away enough of our money chasing the non-existent pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.
Yes, this is 19th century technology, all gussied up in modern plastics so it looks nice and shiny. Only as soon as the farmers that were using their wonderful windmills to move water were able to, they all changed to electric pumps because windmills are to often unusable.
Generating electrical power through solar energy is also a late 19th century technology. Once again modern solar cells are marginally more effective, but not enough to actually do the job.
So here we are stuck using Demon Oil, Filthy Coal, CO2 laden natural gas, or nuclear generation of electricity. All of which work wonderfully well and are abundantly plentiful within our country.
Instead fools pursuing their “green dream” are destroying our country by preventing us from using technologies that actually work.
So think about this when your electric bill “will necessarily skyrocket” (BHO) when the electricity is even available. The majority of coal fired plants in Ohio will close by the end of this year (32 in total) to satisfy fools.
