Obama Official Compares Illegal Immigration to…Jaywalking

The Obama Administration’s recent stance on illegal immigration — mainly encouraging officials to only prosecute “serious” or violent illegals — has been well-documented. But now, thanks to CNSNews, we know just how the administration views run-of-the-mill, everyday, good ol’ regular illegal immigration: it’s just like jaywalking.

“If you were running the police department of any urban area in this country, you would spend more resources going after serious criminals than after jaywalkers. DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) is doing the immigration equivalent of the same thing,” Cecilia Munoz, the White House director of intergovernmental affairs, told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) conference on Monday:

Munoz was referring to the administration’s new policy of “prosecutorial discretion,” outlined in a June memo from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, which falls under DHS.

Under the new policy, immigration officials will prioritize deportation orders, acting only on those involving people convicted of serious crimes or those who pose a national security or public safety threat.

The memo also directs ICE agents to consider how long an individual has been in the U.S., whether that person has a spouse or children who are U.S. citizens, and whether that person has a serious criminal record. Crimes victims, witnesses to crimes, or people who are charged with minor traffic violations, would avoid deportation under the ICE guidance.

      You’re on to something here. The President doesn’t quite understand that he is a citizen under law, not a monarch above it. His job is to defend the constitution. His job is not to be a monarch.

      I was thinking the same exact thing. We could all jaywalk all day long and not cost the American taxpayers one red penny, while the illegals are costing us untold billions.       Mexico will arrest any person in Mexico illegally!!!!!! Not lay down the welcome mat & sign you up for free education, free health care, etc.. – Actually not FREE, just on someone else’s dime.

      And recall the recent article about allowing mentally ill people to enter the US legally? Well, that’s a no go in Mexico. For decades already. Mental illness, not welcome in Mexico.

      The poor cop on the beat stops a speeder and runs his license and gets no wants or warrants. The problem is this man has 5 different drivers licenses and as many names and many excuses for a changed address. The illegal may be a serial killer. The law enforcement community has been handcuffed for years. They let the illegal go not knowing or at least knowing that the ICE will do nothing even if he arrests him. The illegals know that the local enforcement willnot fill their jails with no money compensation from the Feds. Call it a lazy system that is now out of control.

      Illegals cost American taxpayers bunches of money — just look at the tab Gov Perry sent the feds just for incarceration costs. I pay far too much in property taxes all because the area is FLOODED w/illegals and their non-citizen kids as well as kids driven over the river to get their free breakfast and lunch. I have no problem w/Mexican families wanting a good education for their kids, but they need to pay tuition costs, not expect me to pick up their tabs!

      I stopped an Honduran couple two weeks ago. I fed them, gave them water, had them wash their hands all while I phoned my local PD. PD came and collected them. They were saved trying to make it to Houston — at least 8 hrs by car — all taken on foot. The Texas heat and predators in the brush would have killed them loooooong before Houston.

      How much is a life worth to Obama if it’s fm Mexico or Central America? Illegal labor depresses wages locally. How much is a job for an American worth to Obama? Illegals are treated as slave labor once they get a job. We’ve had some fm Central America found and released fm indentured servitude here in the Rio Grande Valley. Most were women enslved as maids and nannies. He’s got a free nanny, albeit his mother-in-law. What does it cost in human dignity to have a slave for a nanny? How much is the next generation worth to Obama?

      He is mad with power! He must be voted away in 2012 w/o fail!

      I would agree that non-violent men and women who illegally cross the border to find better paying jobs was about as bad as a person jaywalking if they actually paid taxes like every other person who lives here. As it is now, I really see no differnce between illegal immigrants and native americans, except that we pay the “native americans” even more to be here and grant them their own nations inside of our borders.

      If we implemented a tax plan like the FairTax and got rid of the “right” of native americans to the money the rest of us earn it would be alot different. Then maybe I would agree with the house on this one.

      No time to explain to you in more detail right now Why what you said is totally a nightmare scenario my friend, but just a hint- – you can NOT have any kind of a welfare state (freebies, govt social svcs etc.. OF ANY KIND) & have the open porous borders that we have had for, I have no idea how long. I know we‘ve been on our way to welfare statism since the 1930’s & really ramping up in the 1960′s & ever since.

      Meanwhile, make a note, the FAIR TAX is actually VERY UNFAIR. It also includes huge subsidies for certain people & groups – the same as now! (& Hello!!! where does the govt get that money to subsidizes someone else? From you!) It’s BS. The best way to go is a FLAT TAX. One or two low personal rates, 1 low copr. tax rate, no double taxation for individuals or corporation, no estate taxes, no deductions, no loopholes, no tax credits or rebates of any kind – nada. Simple, easy & efficient & IS FAIR FOR ALL.

      Everyone pays something, so everyone has a stake in how our govt functions. And everyone contributes. It provides the best economic & personal incentives. It would be a win for the hardworking taxpayer citizens & a win for the country. A win-win.

      This would rev the economy like it was on steroids!!!! And the IRS, could also scale way down in size!!!

      And if we want to avoid major booms & busts, tell the old Govt to get the HE11 out!! STOP Govt micromgt & social engineering through the banking & housing sectors, get out of auto co’s, & more.

      The only difference between a native american and me is that their ancestors lived here before mine did. Also, native american and mexican is only differentiated by the presence of Spanish blood or living across the border in another federal jurisdiction. So yes, they are tantamount to one another. The similarity becomes even more clear when you realize that we currently subsidize both of them on the federal level and that neither pays taxes. We should allow native americans to own their own land like everyone else and take away all of their priveleges that aren’t granted to anyone else who was born on this soil. People who say otherwise must still feel guilt that we brought them into the 21st century. Before Europeans landed in North America, they hadn’t even invented the wheel. They have been gifted all the technology that we have and people still think we owe them. And if you think we gave native americans blankets knowing they contained viruses that they weren’t immune to over a century before the existance of germ theory you are a nut.

      You are totally right that we need to get rid of the welfare state. Unfortunately you are trying to tie two seperate issues together. I have never once said that the welfare state is a good or necessary thing.

      Also, your assessment of the FAIRTAX is bunk. You say that it gives huge subsidies. The only subsidy it gives is the individual tax prebate which isn’t huge and goes towards covering the tax burden of every American up to the poverty line.

      The FairTax is a flat tax, the only difference is that it only taxes spending on final goods and services. This means that the government doesn’t tax your work and all exports would be tax free. At the same time all goods sold here would have the same tax applied, even imports. This means that American products become more cost effective because they can be sold overseas tax free bringing foreign investment in American industry.

      You cite that a flat tax would have corporate taxes. I cite that there is no tax that you can put on a corporation that isn’t put on the customer. Do some research on the incidence of a tax and you’ll see what I mean. And remember, we already have a flat tax called FICA. It has continually grown in size since its inception and has never been reduced. That is the destiny of a tax on income because there isn’t a way for the people to show their disagreement to the tax rate in the market in real time.       Actually, by virtue of his mother’s citizenship, he is American. He could have been born on Pluto and would still retain his American citizenship. Only as an adult can he give it up for, say, Indonesian citizenship.

      WRONG AGAIN! You had better do a little research before spouting ignorance. If the mother was not married he is a U.S. Citizen. In Obama’s case she was married to a Foreign National.

      When one parent was a US citizen and the other a foreign national, the US citizen parent must have resided in the US for a total of 10 years prior to the birth of the child, with five of the years after the age of 14. Obama’s mother was 18 when he was born so she was not a U.S. Resident for the 5 years after the age of 14. Therefore Obama could be a naturalized citizen, not a native born which disqualifies him from being President.

      I was going to send her a letter with several pages of docements about a distant relitive and his then girl friend who several years ago had over stayed their visa and were in “Mexico” illegally..and after they both got out of jail…each did 2 years..both had been beaten,tortured raped repeatedly and the state department took 3 months to go and see them after 12 frantic calls by both sets of parents.. But they called their senator and he made the state department get off their “blessed Assurances” even thought they didn’t offer them a thing in legal assistance/protection..the then girlfriend was so torn up inside both vaginally & anally she needed several operations to save her life …neither of them are emotionally and physcologically what they once were..and they had overstayed their visas by 10 days too…they were charged for being in Mexico Illegally,possible drug runners & distributors..go figure even the witnesses against them were the waitstaff and hotel employees

      to your 2nd post – OMGosh, so sorry :( that’s horrific. We hardly ever see these kinds of stories reported in the news.

      Do you recall the newlyweds jet skiing between CA & Mexico maybe last year? A Mexican drug gang attacked them while they were jet skiing. The husband was killed, his body never found. The authorities were initially skeptical of the wife & potential foul play. As evidence & witnesses came forward they finally acknowledged what really happened. I don’t know if anyone was ever arrested. The couple were near the border but in US waters when they were chased.

      I also saw a show a few years ago about two young American men who crossed from CA to Mexico to visit a Grandfather. They were hijacked & jailed by cops accusing them of drug running. I felt comfortable with the evidence laid out that these 2 guys were NOT drug buyers or runners, & were pretty average law abiding students. They were jailed for several years in Mexico! The program was about the nightmare of this experience.

      Meanwhile, here in the US, many liberals don’t even want to arrest or deport illegals who commit blatant crimes. Never mind the fact that illegals are also here illegally.
