Obama Plans 17 Day Christmas Vacation in Hawaii

President Barack Obama and his family will spend 17 days in Hawaii for Christmas vacation, the White House announced.

President Barack Obama will be setting off later this month for a 17-day Christmas vacation in Hawaii with his family.

The White House travel office said Obama has no public events scheduled for the trip, which is scheduled for Dec. 17 to Jan. 2. He spent several days in Hawaii last month for an economic summit with other world leaders.

According to the Daily Mail, the president’s family covers the cost of a private beach front residence in Kailua, Oahu, for the span of the vacation, reportedly dubbed a ‘Winter White House’ that costs up to $3,500 a day, or $75,000 a month.

Still, taxpayers help foot the bill for security and travel costs: A similar vacation last year cost more than $1.4 million.

Obama announced plans for the trip during a campaign fundraiser while he was in Hawaii for last month’s summit.

“Michelle and the girls will be back shortly for Christmas vacation, as we do every year,” Obama said in November. “We’ll see if Washington gets its business done, so I can get here as well. But that’s always a challenge.”

News of the vacation comes as Obama said Congress shouldn’t adjourn for the holidays themselves until they pass an extension to the payroll tax cut. The tax cut is set to expire at the end of the year, and though both parties support extending it, they differ sharply on how to offset the costs.

“We’re going to keep pushing Congress to make this happen. They shouldn’t go home for the holidays until they get this done,” Obama said in his weekly radio address Saturday.

The 17-day Christmas vacation follows Obama’s 11-day vacation to Martha’s Vineyard this summer.

      I have news for you, God sent Obama. We were all asleep at the helm and evil, communism was taking over God’s country. We were allowing them to evict God from his own land. We better wake up, or Obama will cull all of us. Some times he gives us what we need, not what we want!       I would like to know if he tells his children the negative things that people are saying about him? If so, is he proud of the fact that he continues to spend so much of other peoples money on frivilous things like expensive vacations and what do his girls think about it? Do they even realize the damage he is doing to this country, or are they completely shielded from these kinds of comments? Just wondering.

      As of mid-August President Obama had taken 61 days vacation. How many had Bush taken at that point in his first term? Three times as many, 180 days. Reagan? Twice as many at 120 days.

      It only cost us 10 grand $$$ an hr to fly air force on an $300,000 a day fore security for the whole family. Another reason to just send them to Camp David. I remember when all the news outlets squaked when Bush spent 2 days playing golf at Thanks Giving back in 2009.

Wonder when the ACLU and their acolytes will bring suit proclaiming that Congree is discriminating against non-Christians, non-Jews, and non-believers?       If I were to propose vacation on a ranch in Texas or Hawaii, my spouse would insist on Hawaii.

      If I were to propose vacation on a ranch in Texas or Martha’s Vineyard, my spouse would insist on Hawaii.

      If I were a Washington politician spending time back in my home state in my own home & still conducting business, my spouse wouldn’t call that a vacation.

      Maybe more pleasant surrounding than the swamp that is inside the Washington Beltway full of nattering journalists & shrill congressmen like Frank, Dodd, Kennedy, Maxine Waters & others, but it wouldn’t be a vacation.

      I hopes this educate you JeZuS, but I doubt it. You will go back to your liberal talking points & reboot.

      You state the obvious, Presidents work while on ‘vacation’. Duh!

      There is a big difference in style & substance between being in Martha’s Vineyard & Texas.

      What is needed is the tail n umber of all the jets (creating CO2) of the rich & famous flying into the Vineyard while Obama is there.

      There is a he11 of a difference between Camp David & Hawaii. Camp David is a White House Annex.

      Camp David is the White House for all intents & purposes. The benefit of Camp David is that some OWS person (leftists loon) can’t fire on the President when they are outside.

      It is said he hates being in the Oval Office. He stays away and takes vacation to get away from the White House cameras and recording devices. If he met people in the WH there would be a record and the FBI could be listening. He gets away so he can talk with people from Russia, China, Cuba, the terrorists without be heard. This is why he insists on a Teleprompter so no misplaced word is ever spoken that can be recorded. In the future we may learn who is really at the other end of his Telepromptersw.

      Ron Reagan and George W. Bush and even lowly Dick Cheney had the Secret Service upgrade their ranches security and lodging – at a cost of millions of taxpayer dollars. George Bush had the Kennebunkport complex upgraded, Nixon had his San Clemente property upgraded. After they left office, the improvements are still in place, which benefits and protects their families, and are well deserved rewards for their diligent service and hard work.

      The only ones who did not get these benefits was Jimmy Carter, who also refused Secret Service coverage 2 years after leaving office; and who is the only living ex-president to refuse a pension.

      We all need a 17 day vacation. Chris Christie had it right, “What are we paying him for?” Oh well, the majority of fools fell for the rhetoric he spewed. To me his original campaign sounded like a pep rally, or a bunch dancing around the bon-fire with beating of drums into a frenzy (just prior to the kill) We Americans were the kill.
      Some always use words that don’t mean what we think, you need to look at the whole picture and see who their friends are too. Personally, I don’t like those who want to bring down America.

      I would say you pretty much “nailed it”! Can’t wait until this pathetic Prez, even worse then Carter, is permantely in someplace else besides Washington, DC! I expect our elected Prez to be safe at all times, but the cost of Secret Service to be with Prez in the islands is ridiculous most certainly at the rate he is burning our money! Most of us can’t afford to buy Christmas presents or travel over the holidays, but Obama is happy to flaunt that with his trip to the islands—I would like to see him just stay there!

      And they blamed Bush for being on Vacation on his own ranch which cost us a fraction to what the Obama’s are costing us with their full time vacationing. It‘s isn’t just the family, it’s the many Secret Service guys who have to be with them. We’re not only paying for the first family, we’re also paying for all these others to accompany them plus all the other costs of flying to & fro.

    WOW! The country is in huge debt and Obama charters Air Force 1 to Hawaii. Do you know how much fuel costs from DC to Hawaii?!?! Lets say fuel burn is 36000 gallons at 8.50 a gallon (KIAD fuel price), thats over $300,000 for each leg of the flight!!!!!

      AIR FORCE ONE costs $180,000 per hour. That does not include the minimum two additional aircraft that transport secret service and the limo and escort cars. Mooshelles plane is somewhat cheaper should she need to travel without the won. Not sure what Bo’s plane costs.

    Wow, it must be nice to go home for Christmas. I can’t afford to travel anywhere. I am not celebrating Christmas this year; I am not hanging lights, I am not sending Christmas cards. I am even debating on whether to send Toy R us gift cards to my grand kids, I have six. I probably will, but it won’t be as high as it was when I was working. I am now in survivor mode. I know there are many people worse off than me, at least I still have a roof over my head and some food in the pantry.

    Don‘t get me wrong I don’t begrudge the President for taking a vacation for the holidays; I mean who doesn’t need to take some time off for doing nothing for the last year. That is tiring in itself.

      I’m thankful i have a roof over my head, i have no food to speak of, been eating at friends house, though i wake up with anxiety attacks i still have hope and pray in the evening.     Now wait a minute. I read Obama‘s book and also Moochell’s book. Before Obama ran for president and wrote his book….they were broke! Absolutely broke! (He apparently had trouble understanding credit and balancing his own check book back then.) Then he made money with his book and also got a president’s salary. Suddenly he and his family can afford to pay out of pocket for a vacation of this magnitude???? The news stories today speak of ‘insider trading’ with Congress. PLEASE…SOMEONE INVESTIGATE THE PRESIDEN’TS SUDDEN SURGE IN WEALTH. Money doesn’t grow on Trees…I know. I have trees and nothing but leaves, fruits and nuts grow on them. Where are the obama’s getting all of this moneyfrom? Is there ‘insider trading” going on with the obamas regarding all of the business deals he is brokering for all of his buddies. PLEASE…BLAZE… LOOK INTO THE QUESTION OF WHERE DID THEY GET ALL OF THEIR MONEY FROM!!!!

    Also, just currious. When did the role of a president shift to being a deal broker for corporations to the rest of the world. I don’t think I remember any president EVER making so many deals for private companies with other countries.

    And….I ‘m so tired of apresident who doesn’t work… and his family who only knows how to spend our money on themselves.       I’ve been telling my family that I doubt there will ever be a free election in this country again and I get laughed at. Obama does not care about low poll numbers, the economy, the scandals,or the Middle East crisis. Notice that he is happy as a pig in slop except when blaming everything on the Republicans.
