Obama Pledges ‘Rock Solid’ Commitment to Israel During Meeting With Netanyahu

Obama Pledges Rock Solid Commitment to Israel | Netanyahu

As nations and international bodies paying close attention to Iranian activities continue to fear the Middle Eastern country’s potential secret nuclear program, tough decisions may be on the horizon. President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met this morning to discuss this increasingly-important issue.

The New York Post has more regarding how the dialogue unfolded, as Obama reaffirmed the United States’ support for Israel and pledged a “rock solid” commitment:

“The United States will always have Israel’s back,” Obama said during the meeting, which comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.

Obama is looking to cool tensions in the region, which have increased amid suggestions Israel could launch a preemptive military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities this year.

“My policy is not going to be one of containment,” Obama said. “My policy is going to be one of preventing Iran from getting a weapon.”

Obama also called the bond that exists between the U.S. and Israel “unbreakable.”

The USA Today continues:

In brief comments before reporters at the start of their meeting, Obama said both he and Netanyahu prefer to solve the issues with Iran diplomatically. Obama added that he believes their was still time for diplomacy to work, but that all options are still on the table in dealing with Iran.

Netanyahu told Obama that “Israel and America stand together. He added that his country must be the “master of its fate.”

While Netanyahu also pledged his allegiance to the U.S., he reiterated the fact that Israel reserves the right to act on its own, should outside forces cause it to do so. His nation, he explained, has the ”sovereign right to make its own decisions.”

“Israel must always have the ability to defend itself, by itself,” Netanyahu continued.

These comments came after a speech that Obama delivered on Sunday at the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) policy conference. During his address, he pledged his support for Israel, but lamented the “too much loose talk of war” that has apparently been a part of the political discussion of late.

  If I was Netanyahu – I would have replied “I know America is committed, but you Mr. President – are you committed.”

  Ahhh, yes Sir. They are a wiser group of voters (hopefull) during this election cycle. Dumping BiBi Netanyahu disrespectfully out the side door of the WH 2.0 +/- years ago was, for an American President vs. an Ally, blatantly dishonorable.
  
  Since p/o my family is Jewish (we are typically the league of nations as to “ethnicity” and “religion”), I am watching this attempted renunciation as to the past, ill-bred behavior by BO very, very carefully.
  
  The disgusting treatment of BiBi, back in the early days of BO’s tenure, still stings: it was generally commensurate w/a swift kick in the tuchus!! And I think that he enjoyed it!!! Actually is was vulgar and uncivilized! A heinous humiliation as to an important ally: the Israelis.

  However, me thinks that the Jewish populous has, during the past three years, taken notice to his (BO’s) treachery and hypocritical tripe. Soooooo, let us all hope that this election will prove that Liberalism will be totally subordinate to the honor and much warranted respect as to who these people really are.   If you watch the video closely he is not bashing Israel or defending Hammas but trying to make two points: US aid to Israel without conditions is a moral hazard as Israel can act with impunity because the aid comes without conditions and that has caused a backlash against the US (and Israel), and that the people in Gaza are trapped there with no solution and this naturally leads to their desperation. to me, I see his take on this as a Christian and humanitarian (doctor) perspective.

I have no doubt Nitenyahu is not naive about Obama and has him figured out. Think God has “raised him up” to be Israel’s PM right now in order to handle the upcoming danger and God will indeed protect her until the very end. There are many here that are good friends with him that have also warned him about the truth about him and the Admin., which I’m sure he had figured out anyway. They just have to go through these expected political meetings.
We just might end up helping them anyway – God is in control — not b/c Obama & crew want to but for forced political appearances or whatever. God bless Israel !!! and please, God….bless America……again.

  Who do you think he gets his information from? Valerie Jarrett is his number one advisor almost to the exclusion of all others. He does talk with Trumpka and Andy Stern on economic and political issues. Media Matters was crowing about providing “the White House” they don’t name names with information. Just using their own comments. Furthermore there is a difference between having good information and using it in pursuit of your own agenda.
