Obama Publicly Snubs Senator Mark Kirk…While Taking Credit For His Achievements

Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL), who holds President Obama’s old seat in the United States Senate, has been one of Israel’s staunchest supporters in Congress. And despite his recent struggles after suffering a stroke — which has earned him get-well wishes from no less than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – he has been at the forefront of U.S. efforts to constrain Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In fact, he authored the most recent sanctions imposed on Iran, which are the most severe yet imposed by the United States, and which President Obama only recently (and reluctantly) signed into law.
However, that didn’t stop Obama from taking credit for them in his speech to AIPAC today:
I have said that when it comes to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, I will take no options off the table, and I mean what I say. That includes all elements of American power: a political effort aimed at isolating Iran, a diplomatic effort to sustain our coalition and ensure that the Iranian program is monitored, an economic effort that imposes crippling sanctions and, yes, a military effort to be prepared for any contingency.
Watch the speech here:
The catch was that Obama took credit for the sanctions while completely forgetting to mention Kirk. Alana Goodman at Commentary Magazine fills in the rest:
This is the third time Obama had an opportunity to mention Kirk in an address and declined to do so. At the last State of the Union, Obama gave a warm hug to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, but made no acknowledgement of Kirk, who had the stroke just days earlier. This is despite the fact that Kirk holds the same Illinois Senate seat that Obama held before he became president.
Obama also neglected to mention Kirk in a statement he sent to Congress after signing the Executive Order on the latest Iran sanctions. In the note, the president took full credit for the policy.
It’s not that Obama should have to give Kirk a nod every time he mentions the sanctions. But a brief acknowledgment for the man who had the foresight to fight for them – even when the president was reluctant to support them – would be the classy thing to do.
Critics argue, however, that this is not the first occasion the president has taken credit for others’ work.

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 1:05amHmm, sounds like karma came back to bite the senator in the butt. He lied about his military career, seems only fitting President Obama would misrepresent what he has done and take credit for what my fine senator has done.
But really, why can’t the President take credit? Senator Kirk wouldn’t be a senator if Senator Obama, had not left that position and become President. Additionally, the President can take credit for everything Congress does anyways, he is the leader of our country.

Actually, Obama is the “leader of the government”. …And a very poor one at that!
“Senator Kirk wouldn’t be a senator if Senator Obama, had not left that position and become President”
A better way to say it would be, “Senator Kirk wouldn’t be a Senator if Senator Obama had been properly vetted by the MSM, and the voters had been informed!”

This is how being truthful works…
You are speculating to think that voters would not have elected President Obama if he had actually been vetted. This is a truthful statement, because we do not know what the actual out come would have been had it happened.
I’ll agree that Senator Obama would have lost a good deal of support, but look who he was running against. Senator McCain does not pull conservatives out of the woodwork to come and vote. Even then if the president had been vetted during the primary vs. Senator Clinton, would Senator Obama have won then? Most likely not, but would Senator McCain have been able to defeat Senator Clinton. I would suspect that he could not because of the same reason the GOP lost so decisively to the Democrats in 2008.
As for Senator Kirk, I didn’t make any remarks in my first quick post, but I hope he is doing much better.
As for President Obama, he is the elected leader of our country. While many may disagree with his leadership skill, or a lack their of; anything that results from this government’s actions is by default his to claim, whether or not he would like to take credit for it. Only exception would be if tbe president were to veto a bill and both houses would overturn it.

President Obama “only recently (and reluctantly) signed [the sanctions] into law.” Wow, is that ever a load crap. The US has imposed sanctions on Iran far broader and more reaching than any under the Bush administration, not “reluctantly” but vigorously.
Come on, cut the crap. George Bush tried to contain Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions for eight years. The result? After his two terms, Iran was exactly eight years further along toward their goals. Bush did absolutely nothing to slow Iran’s ambitions.
Actually he helped them. The counterbalance of power to Iran in the Middle East used to be Iraq. Now that Iraq is helpless, Iran is the dominant power. Thanks Bush. Too bad about the WMD thing.

NoBama’s favorite word has always been “I.”
Barack Obama speech after killing of bin Laden:
And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

You can bet it was probably a good swift kick from Hillary to the nether regions that finally got him moving, worthless sack of excrement that he is.

I’m sure he knew that somebody in the Pentagon would have leaked any info of him refusing to allow the raid. Simply put, he wet his finger and put it in the air so that he could tell which way the wind was blowing.
