Obama & Romney Release Statements About ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Shooting

Dark Knight Rises shooting

AP

President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have both released statements following the mass shooting at a suburban Denver theater at the opening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” According to the Associated Press, at least 12 people were killed and 50 people were being treated.

Obama was notified of the shooting by Homeland Security Adviser John Brennan at 5:26 a.m. Eastern time. In a statement, Obama said he and first lady Michelle Obama were shocked by the “horrific and tragic shooting” and said federal law enforcement are among those responding.

Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time. We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded. As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family. All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come.

Romney said he and wife Ann were deeply saddened by the “senseless violence” and are praying for the families and loved ones of the victims.

Ann and I are deeply saddened by the news of the senseless violence that took the lives of 15 people in Colorado and injured dozens more. We are praying for the families and loved ones of the victims during this time of deep shock and immense grief.  We expect that the person responsible for this terrible crime will be quickly brought to justice.

So Obama practically says nothing until days or even weeks after the wildfires, oil spill and entire cities ravaged by tornadoes and citizens displaced from their homes. But there’s a racial dispute between a white person and a black person he later invites to the White House for beer or 14 people die in a movie theater at the hand of a white person with the possibility some of those people were black and he gives an immediate response. So glad he could find time away from doing his 100 fundraisers and 18 sessions of golf a week to pretend to offer condolences which happens to occur just months before an election year in anticipation of hoping his black supporters can do his dirty work and turn this into a race issue.

No, there were no black people on the Gulf affected by the BP oil spill, no black people in Joplin or Tuscaloosa (Tuscaloosa??!!), so of course Obama, who sees everything through a racial lens, TOTALLY IGNORED those disasters. What was your brain doing while your hands were typing this nonsense?

Remove liberty freedom and the pursuit of happiness and insert government control strong arm tactics and fear mongers = revolution. Neither of these individuals have the integriy, moral ethics, or guts to leeds us out of the deep dark hole that America has been falling down over the last century. I agree with you in that this administration always seems to be driven by the motive to screw over WE THE PEOPLE and all we stand for (I think that’s what you meant?). That‘s why I’ve always tried to encourage people to do what I do … attend every single meeting they can, local, town, village, city, school board, watch what is going on and make your concerns and thoughts known, publically, forcefully, yet respectfully. In addition, try to get everyone you know on the same page. If we are to take back our country, it’ll only be through forceful and vocal, yet civil and respectful discussion. You don’t have to respect the person because people EARN respect. But one should respect the office.

People are sitting on the fence watching both sides … for those that are not leaning towards progressives, let’s try to win them over instead of showing them that we are similar to the opposition.

Because if we lose this election and Obama gets reelected (assuming there will be an election), I fear that will be the end of freedom as we have known it. I believe very well that he will rule more and more by executive order including the shutting down of media he doesn’t like, like The Blaze, the Drudge Report, and a myriad of internet sites that do not wallow in the progressive filth. Once we lose objective reporting and alternative viewpoints, we lose totally.

Forgive me for putting on a tin hat. I hate jumping to conclusions but… This was an act of terror. It might have been a senseless act, perpetrated by a sick twisted individual. Or. It could have been fiendishly planned. You have a shooter , apparently armed to the teeth, who walks into a crowded multi-plex at midnight. Were there any “armed” security guards on duty? I heard one report that the guy was wearing body armor. Body Armor? Please, if anyone out there right or left, conservative or liberal knows a lone wolf type buying body armor , I would recommend a quick call to 911.

Listen, there must not be vigillante justice; that is what many still demand of Zimmerman before a trial has even begun. It is the same in this case, even if caught on tape, now that he is in custody he has to be given due process as embodied in law and the Constitution. Once in trial, may justice be true and swift in its delivery.

BUT, had there been a person in that theater that was carrying and that person would have ended this tirade early as did the elderly gentleman the other day in that coffee shop, I don’t think that would be vigilante justice. In fact, that would be a much better outcome typically as more innocent people would have lived.

Now Obama and the Obamaites will commence the blame game of Conservatives, Tea Party, NRA, the lovers of the Second Amendment, and there will be a wave of legislation seeking immediate passage in Congress and via Executive Order to exploit the tragedy under ‘never waste a good emergency.’

Probably no one will ever know the events that festered this kind of behavior, but I suspect a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness could be a player. The past few years and especially since Obama, people are stressed to the max. Breaking will probably happen in these situations. Nothing to look forward to, no hope, no faith, all with deadly potential.

Comrade, or perhaps he did it just for fun? Like the clown that shot up the school in Ohio last spring. Or perhaps he’s a Jihadi dirt bag! Don’t feel sorry for the maniac, just his victims!
There are people that choose to kill for the joy of it. By most standards we consider them sick, by their standards they are having a good time!

@HKS: People who will “break,” will break, in this case bad. The Columbine shootings happened when the 1990s prosperity was at its height. Maybe this guy’s girlfriend dumped him.

      @HKS

Hopelessness? Maybe the “hopelessness” in the country has to to with the previous President, who inherited a surplus and ended his Presidency with the country in the midst of the Great Recession.
“During the Bush administration, middle-class income fell during a period of economic growth for the first recorded time in American history. Nearly 6 million Americans fell into poverty. And at the end of it all, on January 9, 2009, the Wall Street Journal looked back and found that the Bush administration produced ‘the worst track record for job creation since the government began keeping records.’”
This is the conservative Wall Street Journal we’re talking about here. That’s right, the rich got richer, and the middle class got poorer under Bush. There’s your trickle down economics for you.

Comrades why doesn’t Dear Leader just close every movie theater across the country by Executive order so nothing like this can ever happen again? Boy, would that ever pi– off those dummy movie actors that give him so much money!
I know, I know, he’s more prone to use that Executive Order to try to take our guns away. That would be interesting because I do know how to use mine and trying to take it from me might not be the smartest thing to do.

If we can not learn to govern ourselves. Someone else will.
