Twitter Town Hall: Obama Calls Boehner‘s Tweeted Question ’Slightly Skewed’

WASHINGTON (Blaze/AP) — President Barack Obama kicked off his first Twitter town hall with – what else? – a tweet.
Using a laptop set up on a podium in the East Room of the White House, Obama typed this message: “In order to reduce the deficit, what costs would you cut and what investments would you keep?”
The tweet set the tone for the town hall focused on jobs and the economy, and hosted by Twitter, the social media service. The White House sees social media as an opportunity for the president to interact with Americans directly, particularly the younger and more tech-savvy part of the electorate, as his re-election campaign ramps up.
Twitter selected the questions for the president from among the thousands of inquires submitted from people across the country, including Republican House Speaker John Boehner, who asked Obama, “Where are the jobs?”
“This is a slightly skewed question,” Obama said of his political rival’s inquiry.
The president went on to answer Boehner’s question by noting that the economy is, in fact, creating jobs, though not at a pace anyone should be satisfied with. He said there was more the government could do to boost the economy but also said he hasn’t always been able to get Republican support for doing so.
Twitter users had to keep their questions to the social networking site’s 140-character limit. But the president had no such restrictions. He answered in his trademark, lengthy form to questions on college costs, immigration, collective bargaining rights, the debt limit, manufacturing jobs, the housing crisis and other topics as Twitter users sent queries in by the tens of thousands.
Twitter boiled his answers down to 140 characters or less on its website.
The first question for Obama asked the president what mistakes he‘d made in handling the recession and what he’d do differently.
Obama defended his stimulus program as “the right thing to do.” But he allowed that his administration had underestimated the severity of the recession, and so he did not prepare the American people “for how long this was going to take” and the touch choices that lay ahead. Obama also said the problems in the housing market were more stubborn than expected and he’d had to revamp his assistance programs several times.
One particular statement triggered a response from online users: Obama referred to the Internet as the “Internets” when talking about education and classroom technology.
“We do have to make sure that there are computers in a comupter age inside classrooms and that they work and that there’s Internets,” Obama said before quickly correcting himself.
Former President George W. Bush made the same gaffe during the 2000 and 2004 election campaigns and was widely criticized for it.

I honestly think that Obama doesn’t have an agenda. He has a lot of bad ideas, born of ignorance and weakness (and more than a little stupidity). He is NOT a smart man. I disagree with your stance though that he isnt intentionally hijacking this country.. the man behind all the telepromter scripts, executive orders, and anti-American Policies isnt so much George soros either, it’s Cass Sunstein, the regulatory Czar, who can sit in an office, and scour each issue in total darkness, away from any scrutiny. I have read many excerpts from his books and thesis’, and ideological rantings, hes the guy directing traffic in the admion.. thus Obama can be NOWHERE NEAR the White House, Golf 1000 times, take 100 vacations and do 1000 fundraisers. Since treason is a crime which is directed at society as a whole, once it has been lawfully determined that treason was committed, it would seem appropriate to require the consent of Congress in order to show mercy towards whoever was convicted. This should actually be how pardoning treason should be dealt with, since it is not entirely possible to rule out a conspiracy of some sort on the part of the President. But there are also many significant problems with such a plan.

On a side note, does anyone else here have problems with the comment formatting? All the comments have rply buttons but none allow a reply to be placed in connection to any other comment. All comments are treated equal and placed in chronological order, so I have no idea if anyone is replying to my our someone else’s comment.

You can bet though it people had opposed to him being killed it would have been someone elses fault. It is always Bush, Republicans, his staff, it doesn’t matter. He had no problem taking CREDIT for UBL even though all he had to do was say YES GO IN and who would not have said that?
