Obama Team Hits Back at Romney Birth Certificate Quip: ‘America Doesn’t Need a Birther-in-Chief’

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign quickly hit back at rival Mitt Romney’s birth certificate joke, declaring that America “doesn’t need a birther-in-chief.”

A 16-second web video released hours after Romney made the crack during a campaign stop in Michigan on Friday accuses the former Massachusetts governor of “embracing unfounded conspiracy theories” that the president was not born in the U.S.

“Holding out hope Romney had a vision for the middle class?” the narrator asks. “Think again.”

The video then cuts to Romney’s comment: “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

“Embracing unfounded conspiracy theories, distracting from real issues,” the narrator says. “America doesn’t need a birther-in-chief.”

Obama campaign officials had seized on Romney’s remark before releasing the video, with campaign manager Jim Messina emailing Obama supporters that it was a “new low for Mitt Romney.”

“Take a moment or two to think about that, what he’s actually saying, and what it says about Mitt Romney,” Messina wrote in the fundraising pitch.

Romney later told CBS News his remark was “not a swipe” at Obama.

“I’ve said throughout the campaign and before, there’s no question about where he was born,” Romney said. “He was born in the U.S. This was fun about us, and coming home. And humor, you know — we’ve got to have a little humor in a campaign.”

      British National Archives release records that show obama Sr has a son born between 1961. Within the same year obama is supposedly born. No other obama siblings born during that time.

      I am utterly amazed that Romney decided to wade into the whole Birther sess pool. This will only make Romney look less credible in the eyes of key voters, e.g. independents and moderate dems and repubs. Absolutely no upside in this for Romney. The Birther issue is a debunked conspiracy theory and sane voters will not be happy that he jokes that its okay for him to get a pass on releasing his b.c. because America knows where he is from, while many in his own party won’t give Pres. Obama a pass even when he proves to American where he is from. Why the double standard?

      Obama claims mitt is a felon, demands Mitt release 10 years taxes. Forensic examination of Obama’s birth certificate proves it is a fraud and his SSI# is stolen. I am not a birther, but these two parts of Obama’s past should be checked out.

      And Mitt’s timing on this was perfect with the phenomenal support for the 2016 movie! Most Americans do question 0bama’s past and has suspicions over his sealed records which cast significant doubt on his, ahem, integrity in total. And while I haven’t seen the movie yet, the buzz it is generating with the theme “you don’t know 0bama” makes Mitt’s comment even more apropos.

      I’m so proud to have the wonderful team of Romney and Ryan running for the highest office in this land. We need these guys, NOW! I can’t take 4 more years of the current office with his clown sidekick, ruining America, keeping us poor and barefoot. (personally, I think this is their plan.)

      I’ve been depressed for our Nation, and when I see how much of our money they’ve wasted, doing it with a laugh and keep doing the same stupid things, until we’re in a depression, I’m angry.

      Some of you must not care what happens to our children and grandchildren. OH, right! Many of you liberal types believe we need to abort all the little ‘mistakes’ so we don’t have to deal with them.
      So, this nasty little problem doesn’t affect you folks, just kill the little buggers to get rid of them.
      Then, of course, make sure all of US participate in the murders by making us pay for it.

      Will you ever address my actual point? Just because two people bear a passing resemblance to one another doesn’t mean that they are genetically linked. The eyeball test is not a substitute for good old fashioned science.

      Until you have concrete scientific proof that Barack Obama is Frank Marshall Davis’ biological son, don’t go around insinuating as much. As a reminder, because you seem to have trouble grasping this, “a lot of people” thinking they look alike is not scientific proof. I said on another post on this article that one does not need to delve into conspiracy theories to criticize Barack Obama. Let’s stick to the issues of substance when discussing the guy, because resorting to garbage arguments like this only makes all of us look bad.

      I think there are enough valid reasons to be suspicious of anything concerning 0bama’s past regardless of where he was born. So much is hidden. In all likelihood, Mama 0bama was sleeping around (it was the 60′s after all) and no one really knew who 0′s father was.

      Righthook, I don’t doubt they will try to manufacture something. I also doubt there is any legitimate problem with Romney’s taxes. The guy has had his eye on the White House for quite a while now. He’s a very intelligent man, I doubt he would try anything underhanded on his taxes knowing they would be scruitinized. I honestly think he is going to release more of them eventually. He may be trying to let them hang themselves with all their accusations first.

      Well considering that’s what Obama did with his birth certificate, it’s a proven technique. BUT! Its; perfectly legal for Obama and say Harry Reid to review Romney’s taxes. They know what’s in there. There are restrictions against sharing that information. But the important point is that they want them to be released based on what they know, not what they may find. That’s also why Mitt is refusing to release them.

      But as for the right’s newfound enthusiasm for all things birther, you’ve forgotten the beating you took just five months ago on that. And we’re happy to re-beat you with it now. So you see, this Romney birther strategy is riddled with roof of past failure, and fraught with a near certainty of new derision by the majority of American who consider it ridiculous.

      Not to mention that Trump is re-elevatign into the campaign – and that’s a gross and net negative for Republicans.

      Good luck with that. I’m sure it will work – without women, blacks, Latinos, gays, union members, cops, teachers, nurses, Medicare recipients, Jews, young people, urban voters . . . Clearly you’ve aimed your strategy at grumpy old fat white guys (no offense.)

    Look, let me be clear! Obama 2008 and million time since. Somebody better review Romney‘s Birth Certificate as it’s required to verify your eligible for the Presidency. Unlike Obozo, Romney needs vetting.

    This New Pseudo Narrative coming out of the Obozo camp is so predictable. The Obozo think tank from the Obozo spin doctors is trying to paint Obozo as conservative. He is going after the conservative woman again. He is losing the war on Dogs, Women, Black, Brown and Yellow. He, Obozo , is losing all of his wars, because he sucks so badly.       1) Birthers love to claim the “clearly defined parameters” of natural born citizenship as defined by the Constitution in Article II, Section I, but the line about both parents needing to be US citizens doesn’t exist. If you had actually read the Constitution you would have known that.
      2) Even if Obama falls under British citizenship, he’s still a US citizen, being born in Hawaii and all that.
      3) “Law enforcement” being “racist old sheriff who has committed massive ethics violations and presented absolutely no evidence that can’t easily be disproven at a press conference after wasting $10,000 a day of taxpayer money to send his posse on a trip to Hawaii.” If that’s law enforcement, we’ve got some thinking to do.

      There are so many better reasons to be critical of Obama. Why don’t you focus on those instead?

    I think everyone in the USA knows by now that obama does not
    meet the requirements for being the POTUS. Why the congress has
    not acted can only be out of fear. Lots of obamas opponents
    have been killed or just disapeared. His actual birth certificate
    from mosambique is circulating on the internet now. It has
    the proper british signatures and has a live birth certificate
    with his footprint on it and to top that off his father never was
    a citizen of the USA. Our congress is a bunch of cowards.

      BARBER2. they’re probably sleeping off their late nite at the local strip joint with a medical marijuana chaser. Lol.

      I don’t expect most of them (regardless of what they write here) to make it to Tampa. I read lots of talk but when it comes to walking the walk… I doubt most of them here will get away from the infommercials and anti-Republican/Conservative yammering here. They may stay off of here for a few days to make everyone think they made the trip. It’s all about the appearences with these bad actors.

      The one’s that DO make it there have their part, leaving the keyboard warriors here… to do their part.
