Obama Uses U.N. Speech to Address…Climate Change

President Obama used his U.N. General Assembly speech Wednesday to tackle a lot of things. He covered the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the AIDS crisis, and even the global economy. But he also made sure to cover one other issue near and dear to his heart — climate change.

Here’s what he said (according to his prepared remarks):

To preserve our planet, we must not put off the action that a changing climate demands. We must tap the power of science to save those resources that are scarce. Together, we must continue our work to build on the progress made in Copenhagen and Cancun, so that all of the major economies here today follow through on the commitments that were made. Together, we must work to transform the energy that powers are economies, and support others as they move down that path. That is what our commitment to the next generation demands.

And here’s how he delivered them (video has been updated):

The comments come as Former President Clinton said this week that the green movement is strapped for cash.

This guy is just too much. How can even the most casual political observer not see right through him? The ONLY thing the liberal world has going for them is the tuned-out, uninformed masses. This is why they need so much control of your life. By nature humans look to better themselves, libs rely on keeping people shackled.

    And here’s what he meant:

“To preserve my agenda, we must not put off the action that a climate scare tactic demands. We must tap the power of thuggery to confiscate those resources that are scarce – the last remaining money in the handsof private citizens. Together, we must continue our work to build on the progress made in Copenhagen and Cancun, so that all of the major economies here today follow through on surrending to our political will. Together, we must work to increase the mandates that suck the life from our economies, and kill others as they move down that drain. That is what our commitment to bigger government demands.”

I‘ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

I’ll start taking these global warming freaks seriously when they all decide to forgo each and every convenience of modern life and decide to live as the cavemen did. If they go ahead and live a hand-to-mouth existence, hunting and foraging for food, giving up their computers, Blackberrys, Facebook, hybrid cars, birkenstocks, and soy lattes, and living in a desolate cave somewhere AND MAKE IT WORK, then perhaps they may be taken a little more seriously.

Oh, and they can’t use fire for cooking and warmth since fires are bad. No recycling anything that they already have. That wouldn’t be very fair since they would still be utilizing those evil capitalist materials that contributed to the global warming crisis in the first place. So no tools, no clothes or shoes, no creature comforts of any kind. Live off the land, my friends, utilizing all that Mother Nature has to offer and show us how it’s supposed to be done!

Oh, and no modern farming conveniences to help feed their fellow greenie masses. After all, agriculture is what got the ball rolling as far as some of those folks are concerned. Farming destroyed the land and eliminated all kinds of critters, right? So if they mean what they say and they’re willing to put their nasty capitalist dollars where their hypocritical mouths are, then it’s a strictly caveman existence for them. (That goes for you, too, Al Gore.)

We’ll anxiously be waiting to see how long the

Obama and his presidency reminds me of little league basball.
They want all the kids to have a chance to play so they have to put in the inexperienced, uncoordinated kid that keeps putting his glove on the wrong hand and doesn’t have a clue.
All the players and spectators are embarrassed for the kid and frustrated with his bungling the plays and can’t hardly wait for him to be called off the field.
He gets lots of coaching from the stands and the players but the poor kid just can’t get it right and he looks uncomfortable and out of place out there.
And his poor parents are embarrassed for him and themselves having to tollerate the frustrated jeers from everyone.
It’s an uncomfortable, unpleasant time that everyone hopes will be over soon…………
November 2012 can’t come soon enough!!

Sounds like you have a disfunctional little league going on there… One that is focused primarily on winning the game. Sad sad sad to put that kind of pressure on little kids that ought to just have FUN at the sport. These kids are 8 years old for crying out loud. EASE UP!!

It’s even worse than that. After the kid misses another catch in deep left field, he takes no responsibility. Instead, he blames his misfortunes on the baseball fat cats and their bleachers getting in his field of vision. Instead of actually learning to hit or catch, he spends every half inning preaching about the need to fundamentally transform the shape of the field, to finally make it fair.

This is a really BAD analogy, and only shows the misplaced expectations of prideful parents who want their kid to be the center of everything, the star of the team, and kids who have paid their dues by starting the game when they were merely 1 year old. (gotta start em young!)

      @Symphonic

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with children learning the lessons of winning and losing. Learning to trust and depend on your teammates, and in return working hard to not let your teammates down is an essential part of that lesson.

Accepting incompetence, awarding participation trophies, not keeping score, etc., only encourages more mediocrity and ingrains attitudes that you deserve something just by showing up and being you.

Besides the fact that what I posted about kids ball games is the truth of what I have observed and experienced at those games, (right or wrong), you are missing the point and focusing on the wrong thing.

Obama is the kid in the game that got there because people thought everyone should get a chance to play ball. Even if he is inexperienced, uncoordinated and bungles the plays. Other players like Clinton, for instance, try coaching him. The American people, (in the stands), are shouting at him and cringe when he bungles yet another play and is causing the team, (America), to lose the game. They are calling for him to be taken out of the game. It’s an uncomfortable situation and stresses everyone out, except the opposing teams, (other countries), who want to see us fail. (Or lose the game)

Maybe it’s a goofy analogy to you. Maybe you want to sound off and beat your chest over the behavour of the people at kids ball games. But your just missing the point.
It’s just an analogy of a person who is in way over his head and in an embarrassing, stressful, game changing situation. And in Obama’s case, a dangerous situation.
Take it for what it’s worth, or just move on to another post……..jeesh!
