Obama’s 2012 Campaign Merry-Go-Round: Andrew Cuomo to Replace Joe Biden, Biden to Replace Hillary Clinton?

Could President Obama be growing tired of Vice President Joe Biden’s seemingly endless gaffes, or of what some perceive is Biden’s increasing irrelevance? So tired he would actually choose another running mate to lead him into 2012? If prominent political strategists including William Powers — the GOP power broker responsible for electing Rudy Giuliani mayor – are correct, Obama might consider replacing his current Vice President with freshman New York governor Andrew Cuomo. In turn, strategists predict Biden might then fill Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s shoes. Seriously?
Cuomo, who found his way into the spotlight recently with his strong support of same-sex marriage in New York State, received all kinds of kudos from Powers, who believes the first term governor is a shoe-in to be Obama’s running mate. Powers tells the New York Post:
“Andrew had a fabulous session. It was fabulous. A property-tax cap, ethics reform and, for Democrats, gay marriage,” said Powers.
“I don‘t think there’s any doubt Obama is going to pick him as his running mate. The president is in trouble and [Vice President Joseph] Biden doesn’t bring anything to his ticket.
“The president will call him up later this year and say, ‘Andrew, you have to do this for the good of the country.‘ What’s Andrew going to say, ‘No?’ “
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown also predicted Obama might tap Cuomo to replace Biden, who he believes would in turn replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“He’s a big name, a big-state governor, and a Democrat who is taking on the issue of public-employee salaries and pensions. Plus, he looks good,” Brown said of Cuomo.
That’s quite the revolving cabinet-door.
So if Powers’ assertions are correct and Biden “doesn’t bring anything” to Obama’s ticket, are we then supposed to feel good about him potentially becoming the next Secretary of State?

If I were Cuomo (which I‘m glad I’m not) I would think long and hard before throwing in with Obama, if Obama is soundly beaten in 2012 with Cuomo as VP both political careers are over.
If Cuomo serves a full term as Gov and has success….he’s a strong candidate for the top of the Dem ticket in 16.
