Obamas Attend Services at Church Near White House

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are attending Sunday services at an African Methodist Episcopal church near the White House.

Metropolitan AME bills itself as “the National Cathedral of African Methodism.”

During morning prayers, the congregation was asked to remember the people of Tucson, Ariz., where a gunman went on a shooting spree last weekend that killed six people and wounded 13 others, including a congresswoman.

The congregation also sang birthday wishes to the first lady, who turns 47 on Monday.

    I do not see any issue for President Obama and his family attending church. It will make absolutely no difference come the Presidential Elections since President Obama’s policies which continue to drain this land of her riches and we have not forgotten.
    One commentator stated that this is an act put up by the President for election purposes and probably that has a little to do with it.

    It often takes a tragedy to bring us to the realization that life is fragile and that we need to reevaluate our thinking and our actions to make sure that we are on the right coarse. Perhaps that is the reason that the Obama’s went to Church today. Or…perhaps it is that the election is two years away and he needs to posture himself for another possible win. Who can tell. But I hope it is because he wants to reevaluate his thinking and actions and change coarse.

    African methodisim ? Ididn’t know they had a method to being african. Of course it had to be a african methodist church got to keep up appearances don’t want to offend his base.Can he not go to a normal church ? everything has got to be divided and separated with him. why not just plain methodist is this a black liberation theology church

    Is there some reason that the President going to church makes the news? He has gone to church in Washington before and I don’t remember it making the national news. Do some research this guy is anything but what he appears to be. Meanwhile he‘s passing laws to stifle free and religious speech and he’s not doing anything to make our lives in this country better, to the contrary. Take off the rose colored glasses.     Most likely they will be going to church more in the next two years. They will try to win more of the rights Christian base by quoting more bible versus and going to church. Those photo ops will be important in the upcoming election. The people wont see through it though because they hang on his every word – at least those written by good speech writers.

      At this stage of my life I really see the wisdom in Glenn Beck’s statement that “we must be on God’s side.” God doesn’t take sides in the battles of mere mortals. He does welcome those who choose to His side. It’s amazing that looking it this way and welcoming radiant guidance gives one a whole new perspective. I truly believe that our founding fathers were on God’s side when they established this nation of ours. So too do a lot of people around the world. We had a visit from relatives from Berlin a few years ago. Along with them came an ex-Captain in the East German Police Force/Army. He was overjoyed to be visiting the states. They arrived on a Saturday and we asked him what he would like to do first. He said, “FIRST OF ALL (In German) I WANT TO GO TO CHURCH. WE COULDN’T DO THAT IN EAST GERMANY!! We did just that, and it wasn’t to a racially termed Church — just a good old American (albeit it Catholic) church for mass. Our guest began crying before Mass began and cried throughout the service. Amazing what one wishes to do/be when one has the freedom to do what one wishes to do/be.

      God this nation of ours as long as our patriots and citizens recognize that being an American means being on God’s side.

      I believe that when Glenn proposed his “40 Day/40 Night Plan, he was showing his viewers (without preaching a sermon) a way to “cleanse their lives” so that THEY COULD PRAY to God with a “clear conscience”…and ask God to help our Country…the Bible says that if we pray with a clear conscience, we then can have a reasonable belief that He hears our prayers and “hopefully” He will answer them THE WAY WE WANT HIM TO…of course, IT doesn’t ALWAYS turn out the way WE want, but, it ALWAYS turns out according TO HIS WILL!

      Going to sit in a building doesn‘t mean anything if it isn’t in your heart and it is obvious by 2 years of Obama and what he has done in this country that he is a fake and only using these 4 times a year church appearances for a chance to boost his poll numbers.

      Nothing but a PR scam because Obama is not liked or trusted by the religious folks. He will try anything to get reelected. Trust nothing this person says or does. If he get reelected he will finish destroying this country if not before. Can you imagine all the regulations his radical left wing czars will institute if they get another 4 years? All the edicts(Executive Orders) Obama will issue?

      The President goes to church and the hatred against him flows. The President gives a speech on the Arizona killings, one praised by the Giffords’ family and many left, right and center, and out comes the hatred. The First Lady makes public comments of any kind, and hatred toward her is freely expressed. Glenn Beck mocks President Obama’s children and you cheer.

      I see you are one with Christ’s message of love and peace. Praise God!
