While President Barack Obama still enjoys a majority of support from Jewish-Americans, his popularity with the demographic has seen a 10-point decline since 2008. According to a new poll from Gallup only 64 percent of Jewish-Americans support President Obama, joining the likes of Michael Dukakis, Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter in 1980, as the only Democrats running for president since 1976 who have failed to reach 70 precent. Dukakis, Mondale and Carter in 1980 all lost in the general election to their Republican opponents.
The only silver lining the president may find from the drop is that he is still preferred by twice as many Jewish voters as Mitt Romney. The Republican presidential candidate has only been able to secure 29 percent of support from Jewish-Americans. The Republican Jewish Coalition still notes that this percentage is the highest level of Jewish support for a Republican presidential candidate in 24 years. The gap between Romney and Obama among Jewish-Americans is also not as great as the lead the Republican has with Mormon-Americans, 84 percent to the president’s 13. According to Gallup roughly 2 percent of Americans identify their religious faith as Mormon, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The same percent as those who identify as Jewish. The two religious groups represent the next-largest religious faiths in the United States after Protestants (including those who identify simply as Christian) and Catholics.
The Hill reports that Romney has made a major push to win over Jewish voters this cycle, criticizing the president’s stance on Israel and playing up his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 9:50amReform Jews (as opposed to Conservative or Orthodox- including Hasidim and other sub-sects) worship at the altar of Progressivism. As such, they truly disdain the Christian origins of America and particularly abhor and fear Christian groups. As a result, they join Progressive causes seeking to “fundamentally change” America, since they, like Progressive radicals, hate this country. This makes for strange bed fellows, but they would sooner throw in with Islamic fundamentalists than with God fearing Christians who mean them no harm. Go figure.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 3:07pmTeddie888, Contrary to your efforts at hate speech, Jews do not have a lot of power in the USA. Mostly everyone who’s Jewish here care deeply for the health and welfare of America and his/her fellow Americans, first and foremost. Some, I believe, are misguided, just like a lot of others here, and believe that liberalism is the answer to what ails America. If there was evidence that liberal programs worked, I’d join their efforts. But, so far, they haven’t. That‘s why I’m supporting Romney.
Those of the Jewish faith are prevalent in medicine, research, science, engineering, law and the arts. However, you’ll find very, very few Jews involved in major roles in industry. There were a few members of the Jewish faith involved in high profile banking, but they’re very much in the minority. You failed to mention in your ramble, that Jews, who only represent a tiny percentage of the general population, have a rate of enlistment in the US Armed Forces than what would normally be expected. As a matter of fact, the Commander of the U.S. Air Force is General Norton Schwartz. And, yes, he’s Jewish.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 8:58amthe Jewish vote is one thing i have never really come to understand.
First off, just because of the republicans general stance on gun control issues, you would think they would get and keep the Jewish Vote. After the holocaust, you would think no other people would be as staunchly armed as Jewish people.
Generally republicans are less wanting to regulate the banking industry, which Jewish folks are heavily involved.
Republicans are generally way more supportive of the nation of Israel.
While I may not understand Jewish voters, I still love them. My Bible tells me that God blesses those that bless his chosen people.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 8:31amJews are liberal folks, they don’t like wars, they like entitlements not being cut, they want money spent on the community instead of war abroad, socially they want equality and freedom to some sense, and they support central banking system/Keynesian economics. Unless Adolf Hitler is the democrat nominee i doubt the Republican will ever obtain the majority of Jewish voters.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 5:46amDon`t believe any of this crapp. Don`t believe the polls as Bill O`rielly says it`s going to be a tight race either. All you need to do is look back at every election since Obama has been in office. The Democrats have taken an azz woopen. Democrats and Unions were handed their butts in Wisconcin just last week in a mostly Democratic/Union state. The correct number here is not 10% it`s probably closer to 90%. The news media loves the ratings of everyone following the race. If they tell everyone Obama is toast it would be like watching a Pee Wee Leage game with a score of 40 to 1.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 2:13amUnfortunately, my Jewish brethren are liberal and stupid. For my co-Jews, religious/faith level correlates to conservative level: usually, the more religious the more conservative. In the 2008 election: liberal (irreligious) Jews voted 80/20 in favor of the Bamster. Conservative (religious) Jews voted 80/20 for McCain. Unfortunately, only about 7 to 12% of Jews have faith.
On the one hand it’s a little surprising it has dropped to 64%. On the other hand, I can’t believe even one of my Jewish brothers or sisters would vote for this idiot.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 12:25amBack then many Jews had been conditioned to keep their heads down if they didn’t want to lose them. The rest had fully assimilated to the point that they thought no one would distinguish between them. But even then over half the Jews living in Germany during the 1930s, including my grandparents and great-grandparents, had enough sense to leave the country. Unfortunately not all of them fled far enough to escape the Holocaust.
Today however to many Jews, most of them secular or barely religious, have become complacent, ignorantly believing that Nazi-style hatred exists only as a fringe idea of radicals that won’t threaten them. Since most of the antisemitism we have observed in the past year or so has occurred in religious communities, those living outside such communities seldom encounter it.
The sad truth is that often times of peace are at least as threatening to Jewish survival as times as violence. When things get too peaceful, many Jews abandon their faith in order to fit in better. When times are less peaceful Jews at least seek safety with one another and often cling to their faith that much more.

Posted on June 10, 2012 at 11:31pmSo siding with an enemy that wants to exterminate your people only drops him 10 points. I guess growing a little mustache and rounding up Jews might drop him another 10 points, but then again, he does give great speeches, and always appologizes.
