Obama’s Former Law Professor & 2008 Adviser: ‘Obama Must be Defeated in the Coming Election’

President Barack Obama once had the full support of Roberto Unger, one of his renowned Harvard law professors, but the educator and Brazilian politician is now publicly urging Americans not to vote for the president. It’s a bizarre about-face for a man who often advised Obama during his 2008 campaign. Today, Unger believes the president is undeserving of a second term in the White House.

Much like many of the angst-ridden individuals The Blaze spoke with at Netroots, an annual progressive conference, Unger believes that Obama has failed to live up to the promises he made in 2008. In essence, this corroborates that, in the opinion of many liberals — Unger included — the president hasn’t been far-left enough in his governance.

“President Obama must be defeated in the coming election. He has failed to advance the progressive cause in the United States,” the Harvard Law professor and Brazilian politician announced in a video published on YouTube.

“He has spent trillions of dollars to rescue the moneyed interests and left workers and homeowners to their own devices,” Unger added, also saying that Obama’s policies amount to “financial confidence and food stamps.”

The Daily Mail has more:

…some [of Unger's comments] would doubtless strike a chord with the President’s GOP opponents, including the academic‘s attacks on Mr Obama’s efforts to reform healthcare.

Mr Unger argues: ‘He has subordinated the broadening of economic and educational opportunity to the important but secondary issue of access to health care in the mistaken belief that he would be spared a fight.’

He also suggests that, despite their fierce rivalry, the Democrats’ agenda is little different to that of the Republicans, saying the party aims ‘to put a human face on the programme of its adversaries’.

      When I started reading replies, I was out in left field. DUH? Now it makes sense, He only wants Obama to be MORE LEFT. This is the type O learned from and why he’s so radical.

      Hey,Mr Unger, I know leftists have a hard time with this concept, but humor us for a minute: just imagine for a second that it is entirely possible Obama has been very good at advancing the progressive cause. It‘s not that e’s failed in his delivery, it‘s that we’ve seen it and rejected it. Like most liberals,you labor under the delusion that leftism only fails because it hasn’t been tried by the right magic combination of people.       Pappa_Bear….you got that “just-right”. Lady Liberty has been forced to sleep on a bed-of-nails for almost 4 years. If this current admin. is kicked-out in Nov., Lady Liberty will be able to sleep on a bed of freedom that will not be “too-soft”, or “two-hard” but will be ‘JUST-RIGHT’ for all Americans and be covered by the sheets of The Constitution Of The United States. Some might say, well, we could get short-sheeted….that was the intent of our Founding Fathers….Go out and make a living and buy your own long-sheet to cover you and your family.       I believe this can be used for those Americans who are too busy to think for themselves or for those straddling the fence. For them to hear from his former professor, in his own words, that he is undeserving of a second term would go farther than hearing it from a Repub which is what they would expect a Repub to say.

Professor Juan Lazaro was really one Mikhail Vasenkov. Know what happened to him ? Nothing.     The mainline progressives thought 0bama was one of them. They didn‘t take the time to find out where he really came from so they are disgruntled with him because he’s not staying on the path that the progressives expected.

    0bama is a product of the Weather Underground and was put where he is to carry out the plan that was laid out by them before 0bama was even born. That fact is easily traceable with a little serious research. This plan is different from what the progressives envision. It is a mixture of Marxism, Nazism, ET AL. In fact it has more in common with Nazism than it does with Marxism.

    Bill Ayers, Francis Piven and the others realize that they’re getting old and their time is short. It is intended that their plan is completely implemented before 0bama leaves that office. They have been working on it for over fifty years and they’re not going to give it up easily.

    This is what we get from Harvard — Obama was not “left” enough in his first four years so take him out of office. So the solution is to put a Republican in his place? Granted, Romney is not as right as any of us want, but I don’t see how taking out Obama is a good progressive strategy. It is in the second term where he can do his most damage as a progressive. What does taking out Obama now going to accomplish? The is the best logic this prof can conjure up? I wish more lefties use this type of reasoning. It goes to show how basic reasoning skills don’t reside in their brains. It also show how radical they are when they think Obama is not left enough.
