Obama’s Incredible Claim: GOP Will Soon Fight to End ‘Middle Class Tax Cuts’

During a press conference today announcing a “tax cut” compromise, President Obama was sure to make some incredible claims. While saying that the GOP has held taxpayers “hostage” and continuing to posit the idea that Republicans are fighting for “tax cuts” for the rich, Obama prophesied that in two years the GOP will be fighting to end “middle class tax cuts” that they have staunchly“opposed”:
As Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) pointed out, the compromise is not really about “cuts.” The current rates have been in place for the last 10 years. In addition, it’s hard to understand how deciding not to raise taxes qualifies as a tax cut.

Posted on December 7, 2010 at 3:14pmWOW – the Liar in Chief was in full force today…
The GOP had NEVER EVER wanted to end tax cuts for ANYONE… they wanted all of the tax cuts to stay…
I’m a business owner, I’m one of the “WEALTHY” that the President wants to tax into oblivion… I make that $250,000 and I have 2 people that work for me and one part time for the holidays…
My two employee’s can be thankful to the GOP for saving their jobs today, because if the taxes went up on Jan 1st, I was going to have to let one go and I might have to cut back a few hours on the 2nd employee. Right now I’d like to keep the 3rd part timer I have after Jan 1st, so now I don’t have to worry about my current 2 employees and now I can seriously consider keeping the 3rd part time…
THIS is what keeping the current tax rates does, keeping people in their jobs and perhaps hiring some more people…. THANK YOU TO THE GOP !!!
I also get infuriated by the Pres and the Dem’s, “These tax cuts will add to the debt”….
HOW?!?!? This is MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the govt is now only taking “x” amount instead of “x+” amount, I’m not costing the govt, the govt is costing ME… what adds to the debt is extending unemployment well past what people paid into it for and now they are bleeding out the system. What is costing the govt is funding illegal aliens who don’t pay taxes, what costs the govt is paying out to the 47% of the population that pays ZERO and yet gets money from the govt, while the govt wants MORE money from those who do pay taxes and in fact pay ridiculous amounts of taxes as it is!!!
3 People:
Person 1 – Makes $250,000 and pays 37% Fed, then state and local – 42%, so he pays $103,000
Person 2 – Makes $25,000 and pays 15%, Fed, then state and local – 19%, so he pays $4,750
Person 3 – Pays no taxes at all
All 3 people use the same roads, same water and sewer. Most likely Person doesn’t use Emergency Rooms or other social services and is actually LESS of a burden on the system then the other two.
Yet Person 1 pays enough taxes to cover 20 people making $25,000….
How the hell is THAT fair?!?!? They want MORE money?????????????????? What paying 20X the taxes isn’t enough?!?!?
Then we’ve got Person 3 – paying no taxes, but is getting food stamps, college tuition assistance, home heating assistance and more and more and more….
This President has ZERO idea what he is doing, he has NO IDEA what it takes to run a small business, to hire and pay people, to make payroll or anything else and he’s got the nerve to want more from people like me…
If those tax rates had gone up, unemployment would’ve easily have gone up 2-3% without a doubt!

Posted on December 7, 2010 at 3:33pmGreat job!! You need to send this to your senators and representative. I’m sick of hearing obama and this liberal ilk say the Republicans want “tax cuts for the rich”…THAT is infuriating when so many small businesses like yours fall above $250,000. I guess they think we “astroturf” are really stupid and they didn’t hear us speaking out on Nov 2. We are tracking every vote the 33 senators who are due to run in 2012 make, starting with the “food safety bill”. Once we get to January, they may think we will not be watching, but we will!!

Posted on December 8, 2010 at 11:28am@ALASKARICK – Actually, I did read the whole thing. If you’d like, I could break down how wrong his numbers are. But the bottom line is if he pays over 100k in taxes, then he should get a new tax preparer.
@CAPITALISMROCKS – Yes, you are wealthy (notice the no quotes). I see what’s wrong here. You’ve gotten used to the 250k number. In other words, you wouldn’t be forced to fire your employee, you’d have to fire that employee so you could still make 250k. At the same time, I bet you’d put a lot of additional workload on your one employee while not paying them any more than you do now, because of you know, the tax situation. Ahh capitalism.
By the way, the quote of “THIS is what keeping the current tax rates does, keeping people in their jobs and perhaps hiring some more people” says it all. The most important word in that quote? – “perhaps”. Admit it, you’re not going to hire anybody else. If you were you would have left out “perhaps”. But you did what EVERY major corporation and small business does. Suggest that if the tax rates don’t go up, then we would start to hire. Taxes rates don’t go up and the hiring…doesn’t happen. You greedy a-holes keep the money for yourselves, and then suggest that further tax cuts are the only way to spur hiring. Capitalism Rocks!!!!

Why, why can they not see that the GOP just does NOT want to raise taxes, especially on businesses. YES. THEY MAKE A LOT OF MONEY. GET OVER IT. They create jobs, and are a factor in this economy. They will not hire more if they’re already scraping to get by as it is. I’ll be honest; I am a young citizen, with a lot to learn, and i just recently changed my political apathy to caring more than ever; so i’m new to this type of discussion, and surely sound juvenille. Just like all that nonsense about the car in the ditch. The thing is, I no longer think he personally believes what he says. I used to, I used to think that he was way out there, but I have learned that it is all simply lip service from him.
In other words, do not take this too personally, he is trying to recover some of his lost base…

Posted on December 7, 2010 at 3:01pmTHE “SUPER RICH” AND TAXES
Warren Buffett has come out favoring increasing the tax on the “Rich.” Why is this not a surprise?
Sure Warren Buffett is in favor of increased income tax on the entrepreneur. Mr. Buffett is part of the “status quo”. He’s made his money and just wants to keep it. He doesn’t want any competition from an entrepreneur with new technology that can make his empire obsolete, create wealth and increase the general prosperity. Mr. Buffett knows that the progressive income tax makes it more difficult, if not impossible, for the entrepreneur to fund a new or growing enterprise.
If you want to see Mr. Buffett squirm propose a “Net Worth Tax” to replace the income tax. His compassion for the poor would disappear before you could finish the proposal. The threshold for the “Net Worth Tax” could be as low as million dollars. Even that would be a hindrance to the entrepreneur who needs capital to expand his business, but it would really punish the “rich”. Isn’t that what the wannabe tyrants claim to be their objective, punish the rich?
Of course I don’t propose a “Net Worth Tax,” even though makes a lot more sense than an income tax. With a net worth tax the wannabe tyrants could really punish their chosen enemy, the “rich”, only this time it would be the real “rich”. The wannabe tyrant’s financial support would disappear and they would be vilified before they even finished the proposal. http://commonsense21c.com/

Posted on December 7, 2010 at 3:17pmYes, all the wealthy elites would squirm under a wealth tax, and that is why many of them give much of their wealth away because of the death tax. It seems to me if they thought the death tax was a good thing, why do they give it away? Surely they think that big government is great, don’t they?

Posted on December 8, 2010 at 7:58amPerhaps Mr. Buffet should set an example and give his wealth to the Gov. to help bring down the debt. Nothing is stopping him. He wants higher taxes on the rich, but I wonder where his money is placed to avoid those taxes? Put up or shut up Warren Buffet!!!! Write the check.

When the premise is false the only arguments that can be used are fear mongering, emotion, sarcasm, ridicule, attacking the messenger and misrepresentation of the facts (lying). Those who expect to reap huge profits from our misery caused by tyranny are experts at these tactics.
