Obama’s Latest Jobs Booster: Designating a National Park

As part of his “We Can’t Wait” jobs strategy (a strategy that circumvents Congressional authority), the president is trying to sell yet another executive order. What is this latest job-creation idea? Declare a former Army base a national park.

“Obama would use powers granted to him under the Antiquities Act to preserve the Hampton waterfront fortress and hundreds of acres of open space along the Chesapeake Bay,” U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar told the Virginian Pilot in a phone interview.

The area’s congressional delegation, which had originally introduced legislation to create the national park, urged President Obama to use his executive powers to make it happen more quickly, reports the Virginian.

So how did they convince the White House that declaring the area a national park was in their interest?

You guessed it: job creation.

The White House maintains that the money spent by tourists at the park will create “many jobs in coming years.”

“It’s a huge economic opportunity for southern Virginia,” Salazar said.

Not everyone is convinced, however. Business Insider covered the story with the headline, “You‘re not going to believe Obama’s latest jobs plan.”

Previous executive orders from the White House have been low key, involving relatively minor initiatives involving prescription drug shortages and online government service portals. And just like his newest executive order, these were all done in the name of job creation.

Some critics believe that the entire purpose of Obama’s “We Can’t Wait” strategy is to show Americans that he can fix the economy all by himself, with or without the help of Congress. Perhaps “We Can’t Wait“ is a response to critics who have accused him of lacking a ”get tough” style of leadership.

However, if the entire purpose of “We Can’t Wait“ is to create a ”get tough” image, one has to question whether designating a national park in the name of job creation will convince Americans that he is the right man to fix the economy.

Please look up UN agenda 21– if you see jargon such as social justice, environmental anything, planning commissions, wetlands —they are destroying private property rights under our noses. In every community and town you will find tentacles of this agenda winding through regulations that are passed by non elected.

His staff must stay awake at night dreaming up ways to lie to the American public to make them think he is doing something positive. Problem is, about 20% of the public is ignorant enough to believe him.

How does adding another National Park make any sense when recent federal budget cuts (loss of funding) have already caused existing National Parks to lay off park employees, cut services, delay needed maintanence etc ? Only in Obama’s bizzaro world…

They must have fun out of land out here in the west that they can steal from the public, now they are focusing on the east.

Typo…..“Run out of land” The point being every year it seams like the enviromentalis are attempting to steal more and more land, closing it off to everyone. These liberal easterners think that all of Montana should be their private wilderness run by the federal government, in doing so keeping the public out and the wolves in.

Hold it people-the fort Obama is talking about is FORTRESS MONROE. It was built by Robert E. Lee. It witnessed the Monitor-Merrimac battle. The vile yankees imprisoned the First President there whicle they were deciding that trying him for treason would at the same time affirm secession as perfectly legal. REL’s house is still there! The army is shutting it down anyway, which leaves the question, what do you do with a fortress sized historical landmark? Make it a National Park, like Fort Jefferson, Fort Sumter, Fort Pulaski, etc. Also, it’s not just a brick fort in the middle of nowhere. It still has the casements for the 16 inch disappearing guns, and it’s surrounded by the more modern army buildings. I understand that the plan is to sell off a lot of the modern base an build condos. They have already turned the Hygeia hotel into old people hi rise apartments, and they’ll need support businesses nearby, which they don’t have right now, like sugar diabetes doctors. How about they sublease the fort to a company who uses the fot itself to be a sort of historical theme park, with soldiers, monitor and merrimac, etc. How about a virtual gallery where Fortress Monroe sinks the Kaiser’s Battle Fleet as it tries to enter Chesapeake Bay?.

This is good news~ It will be more land obama can give China to swap out for our Debt. Utah is 90% owned by the USA. Before the November 2012 election obama will give this desert with oil, gas, gold and silver to China. This will bypass the EPA and provide a half million jobs supervised by China Government employees – Bamo – obama will be reelected. Drilling, mineing with no law suits by tree huggers. After 5 years in the courts a large gold mining Company still can open a mine in Death Valley.

Living in the Southern Tier of New York state, in Chemung county, bordering Bradford and Tioga ( Frac-BOOMING!!) counties in Pennsylvania and 40 minutes away from Ithaca, NY a city fully immersed in Agenda 21 and ICELE policies, one would wonder why a National park in the Chesapeake Bay area would concern me deeply. The controversy going on over hydro-fracking in the Marcellus and Trenton Black River shale beds and the potential for our area to overcome a choke hold of economic depravity dictated by the green enviros of Big City Democrats and The EPA are all connected to the Bay area. New York state is part of the Chesapeake Bay water shed, so when I hear the name Ken Salazar , Antiquities Act, “Open” space and preservation all in one article, let me tell you that red flags are flying high!! New York City and the doctrines of Agenda 21 etal are trying to dictate what private property owners can or can’t do with their land in the upstate area and really are trying to figure out a way to get their slice of the pie, or worse, regulate the industry to death. Fracking can and has been done safely, AND with common sense regulation could mean a wind fall of prosperity for a failing upstate economy that is so desperately needed with industry leaving the state in droves. And let me state for the record that the water quality currently leaving the state is of a higher standard than that of the EPA requisite. Here’s the thing,..government only creates government and union

Chesapeake Bay is not the first recipient of an Obama Executive order.
    http://executiveorder.chesapeakebay.net/

The “Strategy for Protecting and Restoring the Chesapeake Bay Watershed” was developed under the executive order issued by President Obama in May 2009, which declared the Chesapeake Bay a national treasure and ushered in a new era of shared federal leadership, action and accountability.

“The strategy deepens the federal commitment to the Chesapeake region, with agencies dedicating unprecedented resources, targeting actions where they can have the most impact, ensuring that federal lands and facilities lead by example in environmental stewardship and taking a comprehensive, ecosystem-wide approach to restoration.
“federal actions will directly support restoration efforts of local governments, nonprofit groups and citizens and provide economic benefits across the region….strategy provides the blueprint for finally restoring the Chesapeake Bay to health – its bountiful wildlife, abundant fish and shellfish, beautiful waterways and rich wetlands,”

plus the word ‘sustainability’ and other Agenda 21 codewords and you have a model for implementation of Agenda 21…..and no ones the wiser…well we are I suppose….but a handfull in this case does make a majority. Everything that Obama does is related to the furtherance of the Agenda 21 goals. This is just one more example of Implementing a U. N. plan on U.S. soil without informing it’s citize

We use the National Parks in Virginia all the time, specifically the Jefferson National Forest and Mt. Rogers National Park. We enjoy camping and riding the horses. No potable water available or electricity, unless you bring your own.

Shhh….we don’t spend any money in VA unless we buy some diesel.

Job creation, I doubt it. Most likely it’s an attempt to have a National Park carry the Barack Obama name.

Maybe he can hire on a few more nazi park rangers of the same type now infesting Hatteras National Seashore in N.C.’s Outer Banks where they care more about keeping people out than allowing them the freedom to enjoy the park as originally intended. Anytime the feds decide to take land out of circulation as in a “park”, you can bet people control isn’t far behind.

How about we take a few federal parks and fence them off ( Electrified). take all the crooks in politics (both sides welcome), put em all in pink striped garb ( think Sheriff Joe), leave them to themselves for about twenty years, come back after the twenty year period only to find all the dead bodies ( can’t we all just along!), refill as necessary. Instead of going to the zoo to see all the nice animals, we could go have a really great laugh at how dangerous animals treat each other.

This reminds me vaguely of a caller to a radio talk show (can’t rcall which). The caller lived in a country that went to Socialism. When hte country started failing, early on. knowing it was going to collapse, and that people would have a lot of free time from being jobless, they built recreational parks for people to spend their free time.

What better way for Obama to kill two birds with one stone…..
