Obama’s NASCAR Tickets Auctioned Off for Charity…at a Loss

Despite earning the nickname “fundraiser-in-chief” by conservatives for what appear to be endless money-raising initiatives, it’s no secret that President Obama has taken in significantly less money than Mitt Romney two months in a row. Now, it seems, he’s even having a hard time raising money for third-party causes.

After the president turned down free tickets to this year’s Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the track reportedly chose to auction off the tickets (complete with the president’s name and White House address) for a children’s charity.

Some of the best seats in the house, the tickets retail at about $110 each, according to Sporting News.  Unfortunately, the track not only failed to earn money by selling the tickets– it seems they actually took a loss.

Sporting News reports that the four tickets sold for a total of $300, which was still donated to charity.

“Though it didn’t create the frantic, high-paced competitive bidding that we had hoped, it did raise $300 for Speedway Children’s Charities,” NHMS president Jerry Gappens said in a press release.

The auction went on for about two weeks, and avid NASCAR fan Francine Slesinski took the prize.

“Francine got a great bargain, excellent seats to the biggest sporting event in New England and a one-of-a-kind collectible!” Gappens granted.

Slesinski said she “planned on getting tickets anyway” but “had to get” the executive tickets when she saw them.

Sporting News relates: “Gappens had originally hoped that President Obama might stop by the speedway while he was in New Hampshire on a campaign visit June 25 [but] Obama’s campaign declined the invitation, saying that it did ‘appreciate the offer.’”

Perhaps it was a wise decision to reject the tickets.  NASCAR fans have not been quiet about their feelings towards President Obama in the past, seemingly booing Michelle Obama and Jill Biden back in November.

This is the first smart thing bho and his wife have done since they got to the White House. They actually learned something from a past experience and changed their current actions. Their last experience with NASCAR got them soundly booed. I guess they didn’t want a repeat experience.

My guess is Obama is lying way too much for most people. Next goes credibility. Character for the lamestream media is already been long sincebeen pissed away on Obama. Something the lamestream may want to take note of, as they follow Obama down his rat hole.

A note, the media owners were mostly executed in Venezuela, what is left is now State run.

Well you would probably be wrong on that thought, not all fans that go to the race comes from the city or state that the race is being held in! We don’t have a NASCAR race track here in WA State so we travel to go see races! Many people plan their vacation around the race they want to go to next and then figure out what else to do when they get there! NASCAR fans also don’t care if a president is there or not, they go to the race to see their favorite driver win and the most hated driver get wreck!!

NASCAR Racing is normally turning left unless it’s politics then we tend to turn to the right!!!!

don’t believe me, look at all the people that are in the Crapbama administration, how many are from Chicago? How many have questionable past and were behind on taxes (by mistake of course) when they were being vetted? I rest my case

I would prefer if he or his administration wouldn‘t go to the track in anyway shape or form as I watch NASCAR for fun and it’s never fun seeing him or one of his flunkies normally not to mention when I am trying to enjoy the race!! And what is really sad is to see him next to Tony Stewart and the #14 in the picture above, that’s the only draw back of Tony winning the Championship last year, he had to do photos with Mr Obama! Go TONY #14!!!! But please voters STOP OBAMA/BIDEN in November!!!

btw if you don’t think it matters .. we were a NEILSON family for the first race of this years ..and the TV’s were tuned to other stations ;-)

Actually, the DNC could afford to rent the speedway but they didn’t want to chance the negative TV coverage. Can you visualize how many emppty seats there would have been. Many long time Democrats are bailing out on the convention because they are in tight races for their seats and their constituants don’t like Sweet Old Baracks policies.
