Obama’s Newest Advisor: Jon Bon Jovi

In April 2009, President Barack Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, a measure that expands the national service programs administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. According to NationalService.org, the law focuses on national issues and seeks to expand opportunities for community service by “building the capacity of individuals, nonprofits and communities; and by encouraging innovative approaches to solving problems.”

In addition, the statute created a new 25-member White House Council for Community Solutions to advise the president on “the best ways to mobilize citizens, nonprofits, businesses and government to work more effectively together to solve specific community needs.”

President Obama has reportedly tapped rocker and loyal Democratic Party supporter Jon Bon Jovi to serve on the presidential advisory council, along with eBay CEO John Donahoe, Starbucks Vice President Paula Boggs and Rockefeller Foundation President Judith Rodin.

The Washington Post reports:

Bon Jovi performed at Obama‘s inaugural concert and promoted the Obama administration’s United We Serve initiative during his recent world tour.

But, on a serious note, the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation has partnered with public and private organizations to help combat homelessness. The efforts have yielded more than 260 units of affordable housing for low income individuals and families, according to his spokeswoman.

Obama has tapped several other celebrities to serve on presidential commissions and councils. Yo-Yo Ma and Sarah Jessica Parker are on the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, for example.

Why don’t any of these celebs realize, when they become involved in politics (left or right) – they offend roughly 1/2 of their audience/fans/consumers.

It just boils down to a really bad business decision in my book.

They should just vote for whom they like & keep their pie holes shut.

Well that is another artist from my generation, that I will tell the friends of mine that think that the money they earn is theirs. Who this guy really is!

I agree. Every time one of these artists or actors decides to become politically active, I stop going to their concerts or movies. If you really want to help the country, promote charities–others or your own. Leave the politics out of it.

I know that many of these “celebs” have so much money that they don’t care, but everytime they get involved politically, I stop listening to their music, or seeing their movies , or buying their products etc. I may even stop going to Starbucks now….and that is a sacrifice for me…but it just turns my stomach.

I have met Bon Jovi in the past and he is a nice guy. Been a fan since 1986. He means well, I’m sure; however, I think he is sorely misguided and naive about a lot of things regarding this administration and their progressive agenda. In fact, he probably thinks progressivism is ‘cool’. I bought the last album and it will be the last album I buy from them. After seeing their performance on an award show, either last year or earlier this year (can’t remember when exactly), the image of the one fist in the air with the red background kind of freaked me out and reminded me of socialism too much. My list is growing of celebrities I do not watch or endorse with my dollars (Santana and Benicio Del Toro to name a few) and sadly, Bon Jovi has just joined them on that list.

It seems plausible that anyone with a brain or common sense will never be in the company of,”That thing that calls itself president.” Liars, cheaters and thieves. Don’t mean to ignore the INSANE part but that goes without saying. I don’t understand how playing make believe gives credability to anything these freaks say. Bon Jovi, play your guitar in the rain. Electricity and water is gooooood for you

What did anyone expect, one rock star promoting another. The funny thing is that Olinski says isolate and smear, (parafrasing) I would submit that they are isolating themselves and starting to stick out like the elite radicles that they are. Jon Bon Jovi I believe is clueless, I would bet money that his heart is in the right place, and wants to help everyone, but wants the gvmt to do it, I would think lots of them are like this, but just do not see what comes from expanding the gvmt to the size it needs to be to take care of everyone, and the repercusions from it, they are useful idiots. It is amazing what a grip the left can get on you, I was raised a dem, was one my whole life till I woke up about 12 years ago, now one side of my family disowns me. The koolaid is strong, but I feel reborn, liberated, we out number them.

What a shame….this band was part of my teenage years and enjoyed them. NOW? Heck NO. I will never pay a dollar to any one that supports this administration or there agenda. HEY Jon you have millions, and GUESS WHAT? The Gov did not give it to you. Hard work, and never giving up doing it YOURSELF made you who you are. You do not need to promote the US gov to help others.

Both Bon Jovi and Mr. Obama could learn a lot from someone like Bono. He has a huge heart and believes in his cause. He also had the good manners to thank those who truly made a difference in the AIDS and Malaria outbreaks in Africa. I don’t know what Bono believes in politically, but I DO know that I consider him a good man who is devoted to a good cause. Thank you, Bono, for having class and manners and phenominal compassion! You make this world a better place. Very few can say that in the world today.
Take a chapter from Bono’s book, Bon Jovi, and you might make a difference.
