Posted on September 16, 2010 at 10:04amThe really sad thing is there is a large portion of the population that still buys into this rubbish. This is why it is very important to speak your minds and hearts and remain silent no longer on the subject of politics in your local districts. Only you can bring change that we all can believe in .

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 10:25amWish I could answer that. He was elected in my district when I was in my teens. (Became the first Dem elected from that district when Republican Mel Laird became Nixon’s Secretary of Defense.) I’ve lived all my adult life in other parts of the state and am now 58 years old. Northern Wisconsin is mostly conservative, so how he got re-elected points to nothing more than the power of incumbency.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 9:45amThe left is now unhinged and in panic mode. Remember people like Obey will use any means they can to continue their “fundamental transformation of America”. We need to stop the destruction of America in Nov. We can do it peacefully by voting intelligently and methodically removing the politicians that don’t get it. It won’t be over in Nov. We need to be continuously aware of what is going on in the political arena. It‘s going to take a lot of work and won’t be easy. There is too much at risk.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 9:43amI was called by a Dem survey caller yesterday, he tried to argue with me about how great “healthcare” would be.
I pointed out that it was already costing people in healthcare jobs, he said “don’t believe all the propaganda”; so I had to educate him a little bit.
I am currently unemployed, & just graduated a class provided to help folks get a job…one woman had just lost her job in the healthcare insurance field because her company couldn’t comply with the first wave of changes & regs of Obamacare…I talked to my instructor, he informed me that this wasn’t unusual many of his students had the same story…in addition at least 2 of his students were Harvard graduates, who had been employed for years at the same company (not sure what that company did, I didn’t ask).
Rates are going up, services are being cut, & companies are going bust…& we were promised that rates would go down, services would improve, & “if you like your insurance company…you can keep it”.
I thought Obama “was being clear”…yes he was…he lied, & lied, & lied.
Kill it in its crib…I just found an abortion I can support!

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 9:41amOur great country was founded by and for the citizens of the thirteen colonies. It was designed to insure that a central government was controlled and limited by representatives of those citizens. It was given a limited amount of power, with many checks and balances, to secure the rights and freedoms for its citizens. They were making sure that an American Government would and could not become as Britian had. England enacted laws and taxes on their American subjects, but without allowing the colonies a say in their government. Ignoring the will of the people of America, they bullied and took away what limited rights they had and tried to force them to comply. Sound familiar? Yes, we don’t have to look far across the Atlantic at a despotic leader, we have only to look at the Oval Office in Washington, D. C. and to those whom we had entrusted the liberties of the people and the country. Our representatives, Senate and the House, are there to represent the will of the people. Instead, they have consistently lied to the constituents, both during campaigns and when in office. They have consistently rob the American people, not only of their money, but also by stealing their liberties, little by little. The incumbent office holders allow themselves to be above the law, they allow themselves to steal by back-room corrupt deals and the like. They ignore the very people who put them in office, they even resort to passing laws, under cover of darkness. They hide laws and corrupt deals in the midst of thousand of pages of laws. This has always been a trick of unethical lawyers. Their mindset is to bog down any opposition by inudating them with mountains of paperwork. Then, they laugh and call the people stupid and ignorant, or worse! No doubt, I could go on and on. Their lack of character, morals and ethics makes them unfit to be employed anywhere, let alone entrusted with the security, freedom, and economic growth of this great country. They have taken your freedom to worship, especially targeting Christianity. They have tried to rewrite the American history, to further their agendas, just like the Moslems continue to do with Israel.
Soon after deciding what sort of Government America was to become, that very question was asked of Benjamin Franklin. In reply Franklin said, “A Republic….if we can keep it”. This is a question that should be upon the lips of all true American patriots. If we can’t or more correctly, if we won’t, then we don’t deserve it. The choice is up to us, the American people, and the answer should be and must be yes we will!
You’re probably asking how do we insure that we will keep this nation a free Republic. Oh, we voted for only those who promised no more taxes, no more spending, etc., etc. Of course they all were proven to be liars again (or should I have said they were just not quite forthcoming or perhaps they were a little disingenuious?). Then we did the “best of the two evils” choice. This was no different than the “Magician’s Choice” trick! We now know that there is no difference between Republicans and the Democrats when it comes to which is telling the truth. Neither has the best interest of America at heart, probably not even in mind! Their goal is simply to acquire power, money, more power and more money while doing and saying anything to remain in office.
So what is the answer? They don’t listen when the people, overwhelmingly, protest and tries to voice their opposition. So the American people need to get their UNDIVIDED attention. How? WE THE PEOPLE, must vote any and all incumbents out of office. It doesn’t matter if they are better than most. If they haven’t been part of the solution, then they are part of the problem. THEY MUST KNOW AND WE MUST LET THEM KNOW THAT GOVERNMENT WILL NO LONGER BE RUN BY ROUGUE LAWYERS AND OPPORTUNISTS, PROGRESSIVES (AKA SOCIALISTS), ETC. THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN MODERN-DAY CARPETBAGGERS OR WANNA-BE DICTATORS. THEY MUST BE EDUCATED TO THE FACT THAT THEY WILL BE VOTED OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN, UNTIL THEY LEARN THAT OUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO RUN THEIR OWN VERISON OF CRIME, INC.
AND THOSE THAT ARE ELECTED TO OFFICE, BUT CONTINUE TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT WILL SOON LEARN THEY WILL HAVE ONLY ONE TERM IN OFFICE.
We, the people, need to lobby our newly elected representatives to enact new laws to insure ALL our freedoms, our security, etc. Enact laws that ethical or criminal behavior of representatives will be prosecuted swiftly and severly, with no possibility of any pardon…not by a state Governor nor by a President! Enact laws or amendments to limit a President to one term only, ensuring that any damage to our country will not be as damaging as is obvious with this Government. Further limit the terms of our Representatives, both in the Senate and the House. Imperative to limit the term of all Supreme Court Justices to no more than an eight year term and make an amendment that the justices can no longer re-interpret the Constitution, but uphold the laws as it was written and intended by the original framers.
So, the bottom line is this: unless the American people get the undivided attention of those in government…when you and your family members are homeless and hungry or at the very least jobless…remember, you have only yourselves to blame.
THE ONLY WAY TO INSURE THAT YOUR FUTURE REPRESENTATIVES WILL LISTEN TO ITS CONSTITUENTS IS VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS!!! FROM THAT POINT ON, EACH REPRESENTATIVE MUST KNOW WE WILL VOTE THEM OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL WE HAVE RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATIVES THAT UNDERSTAND THEY ARE THERE FOR THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 10:59amI agree with your view that we need responsible leadership. However, I also feel that term limits for both houses are needed. Career politicians that are so far removed from everyday Americans, and feel themselves superior to all of us are the problem. They view us as ignorant, yet they think that you can spend your way to prosperity. Vote out incompetent incumbents! Demand Term Limits! This will help to reduce the size of this out of control government!

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 11:30amTerm limits for the senate would not be needed if the senators were elected as they were designed to be elected; by the state legislature with the limit being the terms of the state, thereby enabling the senate to vote in accordance to the will of each respective state. The representitives were just that, of the people. They were both originally supposed to be voted in, each by an informed caucus. That is, the caucus would be informed of the issues and each candidates stance on those issues. They would deliberate and decide by secret ballot who would most greatly represent the people or the state. The caucus would then elect electors from their ranks that would vote for the rep. Sound familiar?

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 9:21amThe Social Security Trust Fund is almost bankrupt and the Medicare trust fund is bankrupt. The problem has been apparent for years but until now no one has advanced a plan to save these popular programs.
At last, our President has the courage to propose a solution! It is so simple that one wonders why no one thought of it before. The solution?
Enact a “Health Care Reform Bill” the severely rations health care to the elderly. This will save the Medicare Trust Fund and allow it to be used to reward the Presidents political cronies and provide health care for “deserving Illegal Aliens.”
Deprived of medical care, the lifespan of the elderly will be reduced, depleting the number of recipients of the Social Security Trust Fund, saving that popular program.
Both problems solved! Why did it take so long to find such a simple solution?
Of course, the Congress and the President are exempted from the solution so they will remain part of the problem.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 12:58pmAmericans worry that the Obama economic policies demonstrated a lack of understanding of complex economics and likewise, the Obama health care changes will have significant negative impacts on the quality and availability of health care in America. Senior citizens are very concerned about Obama breaking the Medicare trust fund. Every analysis of Medicare admits that it is not adequately funded before Obama took $500 billion of Medicare funds to help pay for a new entitlement for non-seniors.
An alternative that provides universal health care coverage without the federal government attempting to manage the delivery of health care in America can be achieved if every US Citizen under age 65 received a $2,000 voucher every year to buy health insurance–$8,000 for a family of 4. By providing a fixed dollar voucher to citizens the government avoids the pitfall of creating a blank check with unlimited unknown deficit expanding liability. Base level universal coverage will unleash the competitive spirit among health insurers to freely cross state lines and capture the vastly expanded market and resulting competition would keep costs down benefiting everyone. All health insurance companies would be required to offer a “minimum coverage policy” that could be purchased with the voucher.
Instead of hoping the government can effectively manage a complex system that constitutes 1/6 of the economy, using vouchers together with changes to allow insurance companies to cross state lines freely would be a better result.
The vouchers could be funded by a national health care trust that received all alchohol and tobacco tax revenues and the proceeds from a broad based 4% national sales tax. The benefit of such a program to state and federal government budgets and to medicaide would be dramatic.

Your voucher idea would immediately cause most insurance policy costs to rise by around $2000/year and person or at least significantly. Forcing insurance companies to provide a basic coverage would be forcing them to provide a coverage that does almost nothing. High co-pays, few options etc. What a voucher system would do is put more money into the pockets of the insurance companies.
Insurance companies are COMPANIES. They are supposed to turn a profit and they’ll find their ways of doing that. They’re not benevolent saviors. They are entities that cut corners wherever they can. The more treatments they deny the more profits they make.
Also, the point about letting the government handle health care: Every other western countries’ governments can do it. And reading reports, analyses and statistics, they do it VERY well. Why can’t we?

Other countries with government run health care dont actually do it VERY well. You can read all the reports you want, but if you actually spend time in hospitals in countries with socialized medical systems, there are serious problems. The government just cant foot the bill. They have to ration something – whether thats cleaning, care, qualified personnel, etc. I have spent significant portions of my life in other countries and the hospitals are simply a place you go to die, not get better. They’re often filthy, overcrowded, understaffed, and underserved. A government just cant adequately run a medical system. And its no secret why people from all over the world come to the United States for serious medical attention. Ours is the best system in the world. We just have to figure out how to provide care for those who CANT get it without overhauling the system.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 4:32amHealthcare Vouchers? National Trust Fund? Wow. Sound like a toned down version of the same old crap (Obamacare). No thank you.
How about the Government not take the money in the first place, leaving it with the people that earned it. The free market and competition would keep the rates low (if the Government would stop artifically increasing them through regulations and price fixing); if people did not want health insurance, they would not buy it. If they could not afford it, then MAYBE some form of assitance would be provided…but by the State, not the Federal Gov’t.
