Occupy Protesters Cut Through Fence on Church’s Lot — Cops Pour in & Make Arrests

Occupy Protesters Cut Locks on Trinity Church Lot in Manhattan & Stream InThe Blaze has confirmed that Occupy Wall Street protesters cut through a fence on a lot owned by Trinity Church, a major landowner in Manhattan. Earlier this morning, the New York Times reported:

The protesters had their eye on the church’s lot. In mid-morning, a delegation of protesters said they were trying to obtain permission from church officials to occupy the lot.

It was not clear how that negotiation went, but at 11 a.m. two protesters dressed in black, wearing black bandannas over the lower part of their faces, used bolt cutters to snip through the chain-link fence and the crowd began streaming in.

Below, see video of what appears to be a portion of the aforementioned negotiations between Trinity and the Occupiers. In the clip, you’ll also hear faith leaders speak about why they have joined the protest movement:

The church, which has been supportive of the protests thus far, became aware of the event (located not at the church but at a separate location) at the same time media reported on it, indicating that it wasn‘t approved by Trinity’s leaders.

The Blaze called the church and spoke with Kathy Formisano in Trinity’s communications office. “I just heard the same thing that you heard. Yes it’s happening. We’re in the midst of trying to figure out whats going on,” she said.

The lot, she explained, is a piece of land that is owned by the church. While not connected to the house of worship, it is nearby. The location is frequently used for art and cultural exhibits that are unrelated to the church. “We did not allow this,” she confirmed.

So far, the church has been very supportive of the anti-Wall Street movement. “Our position, to date, has been to be very welcoming. They had the general assembly meeting here last Friday in one of our spaces.” In fact, the church has also allowed the protesters to use a community center it owns. The center offers free Internet access and bathrooms.

When asked if the break-in would impact the support the church has offered, Formisano said, “I hope not. I don’t know.” The church plans to release a statement to the media soon.

Around 11:50 a.m. EST, protesters said, via the Occupy live feed, that the church has asked them to leave and is saying that they are not welcome. But directly after this statement was made, protesters then said that this wasn’t an official word from the church.

Around 11:55 a.m. EST, the police moved in and arrested numerous individuals who had crossed onto the church’s property. The Times reports:

At least four journalists, including a reporter and a photographer from The Associated Press, a reporter from The Daily News and a photographer from DNAInfo, were led out in plastic handcuffs.

A few of the detentions were done roughly — one man was thrown on the ground by the police and officers kneeled on his back. But most were more routine.

Watch the chaotic clash between police and protesters here (caution: language and violence):

Watch the live Occupy video feed here.

Editor’s note: We changed the word “locks” to “fence,” as original reports indicated that protesters cut the locks outside of the lot. Later, it became evident that they had cut through the fence. In our conversation with Trinity, the word “locks” was used as well. As the story developed, we made this amendment.

You can call this building a Church if you want – I do not worship a Church – I have a Bible and I worship the Word of God – I don‘t light candles to prove my faith and I don’t need any man telling me what to believe – I don’t pray to Mary or to any Saint that the Bible speaks of – I pray directly to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If Jesus walked into this Church today – my guess is that not one single person in there would recognize him and he would probably be asked to leave. My guess before Jesus would leave, if History repeats itself he would turn over the Bingo tables in that Church on his way out.

Go ahead – Light candles, go to Church on Sunday and sin like hell Monday thru Saturday. Use your vote for self gain, put your faith in and vote for a man that opening supports a false religion and hang go so far as to hang his Picture on your wall in your home.

In other words, if it feels good do it – but don’t come running back to God to fix it.

This was a staged event, they wanted to get arrested and are using the matter to pressure those church groups who will not stand with the administration.

The message is extremely clear — stand against us and we will come after you; the fact that five journalists were arrested as well indicated the manner of set up, and probably were ready to denounce the church for failing to support the protest while the church was either vandalized or burned to the ground.

And with this being a historic chuch, remember Mrs Obama declared we need to change our customs and traditions and history — destroy the old and intimidate the rest.

When they became violent (gee, who saw THAT coming) that business suffered the same extent of property damage as all the others. So, I say, go ahead, allow them to squat on the property, and defecate, and fornicate and drink and do drugs and rape and murder. That should increase your congregation and your weekly offerings. You are right. There are way too many churches that have swayed from the Church. The Church is the Body of Christ. To be a member of the Body, not a church, means to do His will.

And as Jesus said to John in the revelation, ” I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. “

How else would he get to declare the end of America? First, you rewrite the true history of the US, then your marxist teachers brainwash the kids, then on to college to be further endoctrinated to the “commie” way of thinking, of course we can’t forget being taught that they are “entitled” and then make reasons and excuses for acting like thugs, then unleash them on the rest of society. Top down, bottom up, inside out. Van Jones directive….commie actions…intelligent idiots….equals the OWS movement. I say its time for city officials to hand out huge costs of living tickets to these thugs and don’t let them leave until the filth is cleaned up and the bills are paid. Their choice..clean up and get out or clean up and go to jail. The thought of sending them to another country to experience life elsewhere in a poor country is a good idea though. These anarchists are out of control, should be dealt with a heavy hand, this is no longer protesting, they are commiting major crimes, no matter how you color it, put on a happy face, when you cut locks and break into anothers domain that my friend is a felony! Lock up the swill without bail….

Your right, it is private property. However in OWSer’s mind there is no private property. It’s a collective and their needs out way our laws, any ones safety, or your private property. They are becoming more and more embolden with everyday that passes. And with the President and Democraptic leaders supporting them it will get worse, unless someone has the fortitude to snuff it.

I have to agree with the Mace man. If Yehowah wants all of this to stop he will stop it Himself. He ran Adam and Eve out of the garden, he flooded the earth, he bombed Sodom and Gomorrah, he got rid of the Pharoah, he cleared the promised land of the inhabitants so His chosen people could live there.

I know it’s outrageous and it makes my blood boil but they have been turning their heads for decades and this is what has happened… Did you see GBTV when he showed that pig wearing nothing in the park… That is what NYC has become and no one cares anymore…
It’s sad. I hope we can change it but I don’t think there are enough of us to do it.

I was going to feel sorry for them .. until I read that they supported the Occupiers – I feel the same on one level. What I’m more concerned about is will the protesters face arrest & criminal prosecution? Or will the powers that be once again let them get away with it? Allowing this group to continue running rampant is setting a very dangerous precedent.

I’m seriously questioning the need to obey laws at this point. I’m being quite serious. While I will always obey moral law (don’t steal, don’t harm, don’t lie, etc), the current events are clearly demonstrating to me that “rule of law” no longer exists, and the dead concept is only being used to hobble us.

Somebody explain to me why we’re bound to follow every single letter of every single law, but these thugs and hooligans can perpetrate absolute atrocities (rape, rioting, looting, this article) and we are expected to sit, watch and be quiet? What‘s the point of paying taxes to a ’government’ that is picking winners and losers like this, and putting good decent people in real danger, deliberately and with malice?

Please, explain it to me, somebody.

You’re correct. And they’ll get their “Kent” moment one way or another. If they can’t provoke someone into losing it…they will continue ramping it up until they inflame the situation into massive violence. The cities have slit their own throats by not nipping this in the bud and placed themselves in a lose-lose situation.

It’s called revolution. The revolutionaries on one side, Communist Party USA, The American Nazi Party, Revolutionary Communist Party, Black Panthers, Nation of Islam’s Louis Farrakhan, CAIR, Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, Hugo Chavez, Revolutionary Guards of Iran, The Govt of North Korea, Communist Party of China, Hezbollah, 9/11Truth.org, International Bolshevik Tendency, Anonymous, Adbusters, White Revolution, International Socialist Organization, PressTV (Iranian government outlet), Marxist Student Union, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, ANSWER, Party for Socialism and Liberation, etc.

And then you have the law abiding on the other, rule of law, constitutionlists, life-liberty and pursuit of happiness types.

It’s a life and death struggle of principles, ideas and belief systems, which ones will emerge on top? Wheels of justice are meant to turn slowly but they are now being blocked by officials we have elected & by bureaucrats appointed by those elected officials. Took us over 100 years to get this bad, it is going to take time and lot of hard work to get some sanity back into our governmental systems.

Rule of law dead? Nope, Crimes being committed? Yep. Over 3700 people arrested so far, some will do jail time, some fines, some community service, some let go.

Nobody is expecting you or any of us who believe in the current system to sit and be quiet, we outnumber these revolutionaries, why are we allowing our govofficials to screw i
