Occupy St. Louis Crashes St. Patricks Day Parade

Occupy Wall Street protesters brought their usual complaints and nonconformist attire to a parade in St. Louis this St. Patrick’s Day. Video shows the protesters marching in the parade holding signs and chanting before stopping in the middle of the street for a mic check. Some in the crowd booed and heckled the protesters. The Gateway Pundit caught the demonstration on tape (Warning: Strong Language):

The Gateway Pundit reports that the St. Louis Police Department were seen “booting this offal off the street” after marching only a couple of blocks of the parade route.

While many Occupy groups packed up and went home over the winter, leaving only a fractional numbers of protesters at camps in comparison to the movement’s peak last fall, Occupiers have still drawn the ire of the St. Louis police department. KMOV reports that 15 protesters were arrested Friday following “a testy confrontation” with St. Louis police during the first day of an Occupy Midwest regional gathering that will be held in the city this weekend:

‘About 150 protesters sought to set up an encampment Thursday at Compton Hill Reservoir Park, but were told by police they would be in violation of the park’s 10 p.m. curfew.

At around 10:30 p.m., officers moved in, prompting a skirmish that left some protesters bloodied. Officers used pepper spray during the exchange. Two of the 14 arrested are expected to face resisting arrest charges in addition to curfew violation charges.’

Occupy St. Louis raised concerns among the city’s police force last October when St. Louis hosted the first games of the World Series. On the day of the first game, a free (possibly illegal) commercial-less broadcast was projected on a big screen at the Occupy St. Louis campsite. An announcement of the event read:

‘Can’t afford a ticket to the World Series? Of course you can’t! Come watch the game with the 99%! Show the world that there isn’t a need for corporate sponsors to enjoy baseball!

Rally at 5:30!’

The St. Louis Cardinals would go on to win the series. It is unclear if the Occupy Wall Street movement has accomplished anything.

  You really list all disreputable actions of certain occupiers but the police brutality should be held in equal disdain. Trying to organize a occupation is quite difficult and involves real risk from criminal elements not just from protestors but also from criminals taking advantage of people trying to stand up for their beliefs. Criminal elements love to operate in places where they think they can escape the law such as a camp that tries to make everyone welcome. Most occupiers think this behavior is just as reprehensible as you do.

Have you ever noticed that ethnic holidays that mean nothing in the native countries, but get all overblown in the USA? Like St. Patrick’s Day, Hanukkah, and Cinco De Mayo. Over there, they don’t care. It’s just another rough day in hell. But here in the USA, it’s a party day and an excuse to take the day off from work .

  Oh, in case they can read without a left-wing-extremist prof re-interpreting for them…
  the 99% will be at home, watching the game on their flat screen they worked and saved for; did without for; ate bologna and cheese for; and had a stay-cation for. The 99% didn’t protest at Walmart and force Walmart to give it to them. They didn’t get the government to steal it from someone else who earned three of them. They didn‘t barge into a rich man’s home and take it. And, they didn‘t take a sofa to a neighbor’s house and move into their living room. Nope. We, the people… We, the ACTUAL 99%, worked our butts off for it so we could watch the game at home. So stop whining and occupy a job.
  No jobs? Create one! I’m sure you could make a protest sign and sell it. Buy a dozen stupid masks and sell them at a profit. Or, just keep whining.

it was funny cuz on the stltoday.com website they made NO mention of what was happening at the parade, and no mention of the arrests. but they made sure to post this headline on the main page “Raucous GOP caucus in St. Peters is shut down”. and to top it off they disabled comments on the story. what a disgrass our paper is. check it out http://www.stltoday.com/

  I had a summer job in a small town n/w Mt.in the late 60′s and main industry..logging. These punks would have been scared-you-know-what, if they were doing what they were doing around these “real-men-loggers”! ..useful/idiot/punks! What has this nation been raising in these schools? Too bad we don’t see more “accomplished-young-on-the-ball-good-kids”…news of what good things they are doing with their lives. There are alot of good kids in this country..& great parents…Thank you, if your kid is not in this crowd of loons!

You pack up the kids for a parade, make a few sandwiches, bring a lawn chair or two, all set to listen to some bagpipes, honor your police and firemen and these people show up with their f-the police attitudes and talk of overthrowing the government by violent means if necessary.

Rather than celebrating a man who’s faith in God grew in his years of captivity they seek to destroy all the man stood for. Rather than converting the Godless to the light of the ways of Christ, OWS seeks to bring darkness of collectivism into the lives of others with the purpose of benefitting their own selfish demands.

Ah, the Obama Occupiers. Such a stellar crowd. In our fair city, 5 were arrested yesterday after the police found that a ” garbage bag full of marijuana was allegedly dumped out, rebated and passed out to park patrons.” Oh, the generosity. As the police left , they were called “ pigs” and “terrorists.” Last week the police arrested the same man for the fourth time for assaulting an officer. And also had to clean the park again for a scabies out break. Such a wonderful, meaningful protest of concerned citizens….. ( Truthfully, Just more of the 99% Democrat Big Lies and Distraction and class conflict..).

  LUKER: agree with you. The Occupy core now is probably just the mentally ill who were set “ free” by the looney Left in the 60′s during their anti-discrimination law craze. ( another one of the looney Left dysfunctional Discrimination drives – like the ACORN protests to force banks to give home loans to the poor who were being “ discriminated against ” because they were poor/ minorities. No end to the way the Left can ruin an economy with dysfunctional policies ! ) Am sure there is also a community organizer/ Obama campaign organizer there tweeting/ organizing for the Swing Into Spring Occupies…
