Occupy Anarchists in San Fran Post Video of Themselves Smashing Windows & Causing Mass Destruction

Over the past month, there’s been a great deal of excitement in Occupy Wall Street circles surrounding a supposed resurgence. But following the much-heralded May Day, the promise of a more organized and massive cohort seems to be falling flat. As the movement claiming to embrace the thoughts, feelings and whims of the nation’s 99 percent forges on, it’s impossible to ignore the increasingly-violent and destructive factions that seem to be guiding — at least a portion — of Occupy-related activities.
Now, a disturbing new video has emerged showcasing anarchists smashing and destroying property in San Francisco, California. And here’s the most distressing part of the story: It was the villains, themselves, who proudly posted the video of their illegal and destructive actions on YouTube.

The San Francisco Chronicle has more about the events that are depicted in the footage:
An anarchist group has posted a video of the April 30 vandalism in San Francisco’s Mission District, showing dozens of black-clad, masked protesters calmly and collectively smashing windows, spray-painting symbols and throwing trash cans at police cars. [...]
In the video, protesters laugh and cheer as windows shatter and windshields are smashed. They move together in the middle of Valencia Street, chanting, “No more pigs in our community” and, “The system has got to die, hella hella Occupy” — a common chant among the Occupy Oakland movement.
About 100 protesters had split away at 9 p.m. from a rally in Dolores Park that was held in advance of Occupy’s May Day actions. Protesters caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage as they marched down 18th Street to Duboce Avenue and Valencia.

As the Chronicle notes, some business owners were less-than-content with the police response to the actions. Authorities were apparently trailing the protesters as they embarked on their 15-minute rampage throughout the city. But as the mass destruction unfolded, only one anarchist ended up getting arrested.
While Police Chief Greg Suhr says that authorities did their best to control the massive group and that it had disbanded by the time cops were able to take viable action, some feel as though the cops could have been more proactive.

A message posted in the anarchist video (Image Credit: YouTube)
Following the incident, blogger Zombie provided his assessment of the Occupy movement and of its anarchist adherents:
Occupy Wall Street’s mainstream defenders are trying desperately to distance themselves from the “Black Bloc” anarchists who by now have grown to become one of the largest, if not the largest, group comprising the Occupy movement. Without the anarchist Occupiers (such as the ones shown here) the movement would quickly disintegrate from lack of participants.
The problem for Occupy’s apologists is that this major sector of the movement has transformed into a fascist street gang, and have no intention of “toning things down.” Anyone who thinks that they are substantially different from the Brown Shirts terrorizing Munich in the early ’20s is fooling themselves. Heck the SA logo is even almost identical to the Black Bloc’s logo.
Watch the video, entitled, “Scenes From a Black Bloc” that was proudly posted to the “AnarchaLA” YouTube account (caution: language and disturbing themes):
Actions like these, while troubling, are nothing new for the Occupy movement. From alleged bomb plots to brick-throwing, the bizarre stories emerging from those who claim to be seeking economic justice are concerning.
Consider a meeting of city officials on Tuesday in Oakland, California, that was intended to explore whether an ordinance should be put in place to prevent protesters from possessing and using weapons in the streets. In typical fashion, Occupiers interrupted the event and prevented the discussion — and the vote — from taking place.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 9:17pmI used to live in the Bay Area, and I worked all over, in a number of different cities. The SF Board of Supervisors welcomes every possible vile and destructive force in their city, while driving positive influences out. It is a strange and suicidal mentality. SF is a magnet for “homeless (i.e. drug addict),” because the city pays them for being indigent.
The funniest (in an ironic way) thing is that they all scratch their collective noggins, wondering why the place is going downhill so fast.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:26amHaving been on the front lines and a Law enforcment officer myself it is unfair for you to pass judgement on the police. Would you get out of your car by your self and try and stop a huge mob of angry, irrational, and violent people from smashing property? Didn’t think so! Officer safety comes first. Officers all want to go home to thier wife and kids at the end of their shift. So they wait until they have enough back up to safely control the mob. They need to come in prepared and with a tactical advantage and be sure that their actions will not lead to massive law suits afterwards. Not just run in ther with guns a blazing!!

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 11:16amPeaceMaker.. are you nuts? There was more than one cop out there. They went by a police station for crying out loud!. Cops in a big city have riot control groups. They can be called up on VERY short notice. It wasn‘t like they didn’t know where these guys were, what they were doing and which way they were heading, yet NOTHING.
I know why. Do you? Can you say ‘agent provocateur? It’s always the same. The ‘black bloc’ goes out and destroys private property. The cops say “hands off” allowing them to do whatever they want. Later, the clothes are found as the riot cops close in on the peaceful protesters under the guise of ‘keeping the peace.’ While you see a few of the black bloc being allowed through the barricades. Now, why is that? Why do these guys get off scott free yet peaceful protesters are beaten, maced and arrested? Some who just happened to be in the shops along the street and had NOTHING to do with anything, not even the protest?
Sheesh, sheeple. Will you EVER learn?

Report Post »First Thank You for your service. My comment was not at the officers following the splinter mob, but toward those higher up in the Department and City Hall that IMO made a decision not to prevent destruction to private Property if it meant Initiating conflict. If that was the case then the City should compensate those that suffered financial loss.
Admittedly as a civilian I am not privy to the machinations that go into the departments decision to just shadow the Mob rather then prevent destruction. I as a civilian just need the keepers of the peace to do just that, so the view of wanton destruction witnessed by the police and no action taken I think you can understand…. I find disturbing.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 12:23pm@Peace Maker: I can appreciate both the logic and sentiment in your answer. There are no real life super-cops that can step into a fray like this alone — they’d soon end up in the morgue. However, the police took way too long to prepare to at least keep some order in the demonstration. By doing so, probably at the instructions from politicians, they encourage just a lot more of the same behavior.
Besides the indiscriminate and senseless property damage which we all pay for in damage, taxes and insurance premiums caused by adolescent, self-serving little minds, my biggest concern is that we spawn self-appointed vigilantes who will respond with violence that may cost lives on both sides of the dispute. One whacko with a twisted sense of “social justice” could hit in the center of a demonstration like this with a rifle from afar and there was not a large enough police presence to stop it without serious damage being caused.
I’m all for public demonstration and civil disobedience for all points of view whether I agree with their philosophy or not. However, when the demonstrations turn violent, whether against property or persons, some control must be asserted to halt dangerous activities. By holding adequate police presence from discouraging vandalism the politicians of San Fransisco are only encouraging more of the same childish behavior.

Report Post »Good points. I would like to add that the powers that be in SF made for them, a gutless decision knowing you can’t sue a police officer for Not stopping a crime from happening. So the destruction of private property really wasn’t on their Radar because there is in their minds zero liability. So for City hall the charge that the Polices are to Protect Property becomes ….. Sometimes

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 9:51amThe citizens don’t have a chance. The elected officials already have the laws in place to arrest the people that cause damage to property, however the judges let them go as fast as the police arrest them. The police are held back by supervisors that are more concerned with hurting the criminals feelings than protecting the public. Being politically correct has taken center stage. God forbid that law enforcement actually do their jobs. Sheriff Joe does his and the left goes after him with a vengence. The society you have nurished will be your destruction. Anyone that is honest is a dieing breed. You asked for it and you got what you want. Protecting yourself has become the real crime.

They were outed in Chicago last week when a reporter opened the door to their office suites and caught them with their signs and other occupy paperwork. I came across this and it left me a bit shaken. Towards the end of the article is video of police brutality during the NATO summit.
It scares me, because it’s only a matter of time before Obama uses these tactics at Tea Party rallies. Don’t believe it? These kids cursed at the cops, but they got beat and pushed back with no where to go. The article was written by someone who was actually stuck in the crowd.
A police state is coming, but the media is too busy downplaying the recent rise in unprovoked attacks. They have trained their viewers/listeners that the cops are always right.

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:12amSorry I have to side w/ the police in reference to what you posted, it was OBVIOUS painfully obvious the police were holding a security line and the idiots protesters thought they could rush that line and cross it, well they found out the hard way that they couldnt. Your videos dont show police running after “hunting down” drum circle participants. Come back to reality, there is such a thing as consequences, cause and effect, charge or encroach on a police held security line = nightstick beating

Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:19amActually, the blaze readership is split on wether the police are good guys or bad guys. There are more and more cases of the police going way beyond reasonable limits of force, but these protest dipsticks go way beyond what is reasonable free speech. The 1st amendment does not give you the right to block or interfere with the daily business of communities. It doesn’t give them the right to throw things at the police or break windows and damage property. They should protest at government buildings, schedule meetings with their elected officials. But they do not want to effect real change, they want to cause trouble and disrupt the peace.

The underlying motivation for these actions must result in chaos so that the top can clamp down on the people. BOTTOM UP, TOP DOWN, INSIDE OUT philosophy taught by Communist Van Jones and his supporters in this administration.
