Occupy Palm Beach Protesters Arrested After Literally Attaching Themselves to Old City Hall With PVC Pipe, Duct Tape

Occupy Palm Beach Arrested After Storming City HallDespite eviction notices from the city of Palm Beach, Occupy protesters refused to leave their encampment at the old City Hall — to the point where they literally duct-taped themselves to the structure — and were swiftly arrested on Monday.

According to WPTV the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deployed its Emergency Field Force to old City Hall in the wee hours before 5 a.m. and began rooting out approximately a dozen Occupy Palm Beach County demonstrators, arresting many from the group. Some had reportedly wrapped their arms in a combination of PVC piping and duct tape in an effort to physically attach themselves to a pipe on the second floor balcony.

In fact, a fire rescue crew was required to use a special tool to cut the piping and tape from protesters’ arms without causing injury.

So far, deputies have confirmed the arrests of Jacqueline Bryant, John Pope, Frazier Williams and Peter Olegevich.

Olegevich was charged with trespassing only. Bryant, Pope and Frazier are charged with trespassing, resisting arrests without violence and criminal mischief. Frazier had a previous warrant for his arrest.

The streets at the intersection of North Olive Avenue and Banyan Boulevard were temporarily closed while Fire Rescue used ladders to reach protesters camped on the second-floor balcony. [...]

The demonstrators are part of a nationwide movement demanding reforms in banking, housing and corporate regulations. Their North Olive Avenue and Banyan Boulevard encampment was the third site the group occupied in West Palm Beach since late October. They had been at the site since late last year.

According to the report, protesters held their ground at the old City Hall site despite warnings since late February from police that they would be subject to arrest.

    If we stop talking about it – maybe they will go away

    But if we FREAK OUT every time one of these useful idiots speaks – then all we are doing is firthering their cause.

    People – there is a difference between FREEDOM and FREE STUFF.

      Here is a novel thought, lets be willing to go to jail also. Help the police, support the fireman, bring them cookies, pizza, coffee, and then go pee pee on the “protester”. Ignoring these people is what we have done for years. there is only one way to stop a bully. I do like the idea of leaving them there taped at least until they poop and pee themselves.

    How about a new strategy to get rid of these senseless morons. Just cut off their supplies. Don’t allow food or water to get to them and they will just go away. Isolate them in a siege type mentality and it will work. No violence, no police in danger, no wrestling with dirty union paid minions.

    These people are not local to the area. They have come from outside in order to try to organize. There are a very few. Watch them get released, no problem.

    What they are doing makes no sense and everyone knows it. We have other, real activists, here, but they do not follow these outside organizers.

    Union run OWS protests are essentially exploiting homeless people by paying them a few dollars to “occupy” whatever space they’re told to occupy. These people have no idea what they’re “protesting” they are being used and abused. A tremendous waste of time and resources for that community.

    Lock em all up…we have some vacancies at shuttered federal prisons. Sure they need some upgrades but the OWS would get 3 hots and cot.

    They “literally” duct-taped themselves, Tiffany? Could you explain to me how they could have “figuratively” duct-taped themselves? You see, “literally” should be used when a phrase might possibly be taken in a figurative sense. It is not used to add extra emphasis to a phrase that can only be literal in its interpretation. As one who is posing as a journalist, you should probably know this.

      I certainly hope they back-charged them for expenses incurred. Why should any city have to pay for anything these slugs do? They should have to reimburse cities, and maybe the unions will get tired of paying, or the members will wake up and say “no more!”.

    Okay – anyone wonder if Obama is going to grant some kind of Presidential blanket pardon for all of the Occupy members who somehow wind up in jail? Of course this will probably happen if he does decide to go for broke, nullify the Nov elections and become an autocratic ruler of the nation.

    Can we just send these ‘useful idiots of Obama-light insanity’ to North Korea?

    Disgraced American Veteran, KGB and RT TV paid mouthpiece, Ron Paul endorsing Adam Kokesh along with pro-marxist agitator Medea Benjamin of Code-Pink and 9/11 Truthers disrupting and desecrating the Jefferson Memorial, forcing Park Police to close down the memorial causing families and children to leave.

    The demonstrators violated a law against the solemn atmosphere at and in the memorial, ignoring signs for quiet and a dignified approach to appreciating the legacy of Thomas Jefferson.
