Occupy Promises ‘Biggest Shut Down’ New York City ‘Has Ever Seen’ on May 1

Occupy Wall Street Promises Biggest Shut Down The City Of New York Has Ever Seen on May 1

In anticipation of May Day demonstrations, Occupy Wall Street is vowing to pull out all the stops with the “biggest shut down“ New York City has ”ever seen.” Likewise, Occupy Oakland is also gearing up to shut down all travel in the San Francisco Bay area.

That is quite a build-up.

(Related: Bunny-Style Hopping? You‘ll Want to See the Videos of Occupy Training for Its ’May Day’ Protest)

Occupy Wall Street’s nod to this lofty goal can be found on the website Strikeisaverb.net, which states that this May 1, “we will create the biggest shut down the city of New York has ever seen.”

The statement continues by explaining that “direct action groups within Occupy Wall Street,“ as a part of the ”global mobilizations for general strike and economic non-compliance, will block one or more Manhattan-bound bridge or tunnel to protest the shameful opulence of the 1%.”

The site claims that it is making its preliminary announcement about the blockades “as a fair warning” to the “working people of New York and New Jersey” who they hope will consider joining the strike. “The city will be shut down, so enjoy the day without the 99%!”

(Related: A Civil War Is Breaking Out Within Occupy Wall Street Over Supporting Obama)

Meanwhile, across the country, Occupy Oakland is poised for a similar shutdown. A statement on the website Occupythebridge.com reads:

“If any of the unions on the Golden Gate bridge declare a strike or shutdown action on May Day, we will act in solidarity with these striking workers and the international call for a general strike on May Day, by blockading the flow of capital to the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District. This will be accomplished by a collaboration of pickets and direct action which will shut down all modes of transportation from Marin to San Francisco.”

The spring offensive, it seems, is about to begin.

This is becoming of Atlas Shrugg, maybe the 1% will go on strike close all businesses and see how the 99% will survived without the 1%. I am not in the 1% but I sure don’t think like the 99%.

Their logic is so childish. To them, you’re either a 1%, or a 99%. That’s quite a gap. No shades of grey. It’s no different from…Black or White, Good or Bad, Up or Down, Smart or Dumb, Scabies or No scabies, to be, or not to be…

Atlas Shrugged, what a great, long book. Don’t hear of the 54% paying taxes or is it 48% gets lower every day. I am the tax payer. I don’t like to use the word stupid, however I am unable to think of a better word, because these ppl (in my humble professional opinion) have a mental disorder. The sun will come up the next day after all is said and done, yet those that participate will have less cash in pocket. Who will be hurt? the serfs? the president? the middle east oil? the wealthy? the New Yorkers? I would like to ask these ppl “feel important yet?” attention seeking behavior.

Well I think the 99% would survive just fine without the 1%…

you can‘t close a business that has been confiscated and you can’t hoard wealth that has been confiscated…

it‘s not like it’s never been done before…that’s what May Day is all about…

We have laws against the immorality of drug use, the immorality of prostitution, the immorality of polygamy, etc.

why not laws against the immorality of greed?

If men can come and put you in a cage for smoking a joint, then they can put you in a cage for colluding to fleece Americans on the price of gasoline…

What, you put sugar on your cheerios? Sugar is a vicious gateway drug…did you know that 100% of all heroin and cocaine abusers used sugar first?

We’d better put sugar on the banned/regulated list along with viagra and penicillin (and now nyquil in CA)…

and this mushroom is good to eat, but if you pick that mushroom men will come and put you in a cage…Why? well, that mushroom will make you giggle, and we can’t have that now can we?

BarackStalin, don’t get me started on the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide.

It has a 100% addiction rate and the most severe withdrawals of any substance. After using it just once, a person will almost certainly die within three days of the last time it was ingested if they do not take more.

It causes death when inhaled, causes tissue damage when skin is exposed to it for extended periods, and burns the skin when in a gaseous state.

Worst of all, it is used in the production of most foods we consume, and it is estimated that up to 99% of all Americans are unknowingly addicted to it. To this day, it is 100% legal.

Once America is brought down by these 99% then the real 99%ers will stand up and bring down the faux 99% and we can all live with flies buzzing around our faces eating crickets and bark.

Really thought it wasn’t going on here but then found out about the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 21 which is being implemented & will make our country part of a communist one world gov. I doubt very much these occupiers know they are being used by the communist party. If you don’t know about agenda 21 you need to research, you will never hear about it on the news! Most , like myself are trying to make a living and are conservative like you all…imagine a bunch of kids playing Marxism taking food out of your kids mouth because they are calling for violent shut down of your towns?…how ticked would you be?..if this is the ‘call to arms’ that Barry so desperatly needs, it will spread to the midwest as well in the form of emboldened sporadic sympathetic protests resulting in martial law…Barry will have won…this is getting ugly, these ‘people’ will not go quietly…what if they decide to shut down ports along the Mississippi River?..disrupting trade flow in the heartland/midwest…because that is the next step they are planning…think about it.

@Socialsim an @VOX…when austerity comes it will come to the Nation as a whole…it will come in the form of inflation and loss of value in everything from housing (already happening) to the debasement and value of the dollar (here already)..nobody nor one state over another escapes it…capital does depend on labor..labor depends on a climate in which their employer is free to invest and grow and is not crippled with taxes that cripple and stifle expansion, thus destroying labors prospects of employment…bloated union pensions/benefits and hyper regulation of entire industries (cass sunstein) destroy the incentive for both ‘capital’ and ‘labor’ to exist and grow…thinking that this generation will get ‘socialism’ right is a fairy tale…look at Europe, a case can be made that it works for about 50 yars then collapses…inevitably and without fail…history has shown that War is usually the ‘correcting’ factor.
