Occupy Protesters Seize Obama Campaign Office in Oakland

Any hopes on the part of the Obama campaign that it might have found an equivalent to the Tea Party movement in Occupy Wall Street have proven, put charitably, to be a bit of a wash. Unlike the Tea Party, which has grudgingly lined up behind former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the occupiers have acted with open hostility against the Obama campaign, perhaps never so obviously as today.
The reason why is obvious to anyone who remembers Occupy Wall Street’s twin grievances of income inequality and lack of transparency – namely, that President Obama has cracked down hard on whistleblowers within his administration and aggressively prosecuted the people behind Wikileaks. Or, in the case of Private First Class Bradley Manning, who was responsible for stealing most of the data that Wikileaks published. For this reason, supporters of Manning decided to “occupy” an Obama campaign office in Oakland, California, literally shutting the office down for three hours until police forced them out. SFGate has more:
Barely one week after the Obama campaign office on Telegraph Avenue in downtown Oakland had one of its window panes shattered by Occupy protesters, at least 100 protesters calling for the release of jailed U.S. Army soldier Private First Class Bradley Manning invaded the campaign offices Thursday, occupying them for at least three hours and bringing business to a standstill before police forced them out.[...]
Thursday night’s protests, synchronized with similar protests in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, started peacefully at 14th Street and Broadway, before Occupy Oakland protesters and anti-war protesters trickled down Telegraph and started filling up the Obama campaign office, which has an open-door policy for members of the public. Before long, trumpets and chants of “Free Bradley Manning! Whistle-blowing is not a crime!” replaced the familiar sound of office telephones as protesters climbed on top of desks and danced to their chants, pushing campaign workers and volunteers into one corner of the room.
The scene was evidently pandemoniac in character. But don’t take our word for it – look at these photos, published by OaklandNorth.net:
And what did the protesters want? Apparently, two things, which they read from a piece of paper:
1. “That President Obama apologize for the comment he made at a fundraiser in April 2011 regarding PFC Manning’s guilt. Commander-in-Chief Obama stated, ‘He broke the law.’ This constitutes unlawful command influence.”
2. That Obama ensure soldiers are free from unlawful pretrial punishment.
You can make up your own mind about these demands, and whether they’re reasonable in all cases. However, those looking for occupiers of this stripe to have a place at the Democratic National Convention of the Democratic party will likely be disappointed. Public support for people who are arguably guilty of treason is not typically considered a political asset.

I believe that Glorious Leader figured that all the Occupiers would be his reliable if unruly servants. Of course if this is all part of the grand plan to avoid having one of those pesky election things, Glorious Leader might call out the military to put down the “insurrection” that he was originally in support of. I don’t for one second believe he is against the men serving, rather the politicians who sent our boys into harm’s way for reasons other than protecting our national security and freedom. I actually think he’s the only one in Washington that cares about us. The rest seem to have the Kissinger mentality that we’re “nothing but dumb animals to be used as pawns in our foreign policy”. He is the only politician that has recognized the epidemic of suicides by our brothers. Where I disagree with him is when he said the wars were illegal based on international law because I could give a rat’s ass about the international community. Still I think any soldier or sailor would want their destiny discussed and debated discussed on the floors of congress rather in closed door private meetings of the think tanks like the CFR. I really don’t understand you position at all. I know I’d certainly be pissed after hearing Panetta saying they base their decisions on when to send us in on the international community rather than our congress. I just don’t get it, bud. I see him more as an advocate for us.

The truth is bombs don’t descriminate between good and bad people. If our corrupt politicians send us into to war for bogus reasons innocents will be mamed and killed. The troops are just doing what they’re trained to do. That‘s why I believe its so very important to make sure we’re going in for the right reasons, which is hard to do with media lying to us 24/7. I know you’re a devout Christian, so please explain how you’ve abandoned idea of “love your enemies”. I know it’s hard to do, but shouldn’t we strive to be better than everyone else? How can we do that if we abandon the just war theory of Christianity? Anyway, I guess we’re never going to see eye to eye on this issue. When I see all the other politcians talking favorable about our brothers, I cringe because I believe they‘re being dishonest and don’t care one bit about us or they wouldn’t send us in for any other reason than to protect our freedom and national security. Free somebody who refused psychological counseling & so went off on people continually. Are so suppose to feel bad for him because he he adopted a poor lifestyle & then was dripped by his boyfriend causing him to try to stick it to the world.
I still have not seen any Russian, Chinese, Iranian, Saudi Arabian, French, Turkish, Sudanese or Egyptian cables. This pretty much makes it one sided airing of laundry if that is what it is. Asymmetric. I must conclude the Assange is a free lancer working for every side except the Western World. What about Al Qaeda cables.
While we have on Manning on trial, we should examine his sex life. Was he a top of a bottom? If he was a bottom, did his boyfriend drop him because there were things he refused to do?
If Manning is part of the LGBTQ. Should we ask him to be questioning. Is he gay because he was small for age, the new kid at school & shy from frequent moves? Maybe he should be questioning if he is really gay or shanghied by someone who wanted to get their rocks off.

The number of our troops that commit rape or murder should be 0. It is not. But it is a damn sight better than other armies or armed forces (guerilla or otherwise). Considering the French had a pro rape policy during WW2 , we look good. Considering Al Qaeda car bombs hospitals & shopping places, we look good by comparison. By comparison to OWS the U.S. military really looks good. The Russians dropped bombs that looked like toys in Afghanistan. The Russians don’t believe in collateral damage. It is not possible. They leveled Grozny with artillery. There was no collateral damage. The whole eff’n city was leveled.
