Occupy Supporter Threatens to ‘Storm’ Wall St. and Capitals With Guns in USA Today…Is This Him?

A letter to the editor of USA Today is drawing considerable attention after it calls on protesters to consider using their “Second Amendment-sanctioned guns“ to ”storm Wall Street and our nation’s capitals.”

(Related: Occupier caught bringing gun into NYC courthouse)

The author, Rich Latta from Austin, TX, is upset over a USA Today editorial that characterizes the Occupy movement as “fading into a whimper.”

“But with the recent clearing of encampments in Washington, D.C.— one of the last cities in which they still existed — a movement that came in with a bang appears to be going out with a whimper,” that original editorial reads. “Future political operatives might view it as a case study in how not to organize a lasting movement.”

It continues: “They did nothing day after day, week after week, under the mistaken belief that camping in public plazas would prompt some kind of action from others. … The Occupiers lacked identifiable leaders and clear goals. And they presented bewildering messages to the public, epitomized in the irony of people sitting idle to protest those who had made fortunes.”

For Latta, though, that just wouldn’t do.

“Anyone who claims the ‘Occupy’ movement has no clear message is either trying to discredit it or simply isn’t paying attention,” he writes in his response, the passion nearly visible in his keystrokes. “This protest always has been about economic injustice and the fact that a small handful of people have corrupted our system in their favor.”

He then boils over:

USA TODAY’s editorial is right to say that Occupy might lack clear goals on how to move forward, but the movement has accomplished its main original goal: to protest these injustices, not by simply holding a rally and going home, but by keeping the rally going to underscore the seriousness of this problem. Your piece accuses the protesters of sitting around and doing nothing. So maybe they should take up their Second Amendment-sanctioned guns and storm Wall Street and our nation’s capitals. If our country doesn’t change, it could very well come to that one day. [Emphasis added]

Occupier Suggests Storming Wall St. With Guns

A screen shot of the editorial.

Ironic for a movement that has claimed to be so peaceful to attract someone who would make such a suggestion. And on top of that, it’s worth pointing out the letter is dated February 15, which means it’s over a week old. Jim Treacher explains why that is curious:

It’s headline news when a Tea Party guy gets arrested for going to the airport and trying to check in an unloaded, registered weaponin a lockbox as part of his luggage.

But an Occupier publishes a letter in a national newspaper about “storming Wall Street” with guns, and I don’t find out about it until a week later. It’s not seen as a credible threat, despite the fact that Occupy’s rap sheet dwarfs that of the Tea Party.

So who exactly is Rich Latta? We did some digging and found a Rich Latta from Austin, TX that’s a regular reviewer on Amazon. In fact, he has 405 reviews posted, many of obscure music albums; he has a birthday coming up (April 5); and in his “Interests” section he lists his “personal obsession” as “exposing the fallicy [sic] and harm of deity-based religions.”

“I believe our world can never hope to find peace until these religions are exposed and refuted by a courageous, truth-seeking public,” he writes. “In the meantime, I write music reviews for my own amusement to stay in practice when I’m not writing creatively.”

Occupier Suggests Storming Wall St. With Guns

Could this be the same Rich Latta that wants to “maybe” take up arms against Wall St.? Maybe. We emailed the Rich Latta associated with the Amazon account and have yet to hear back. We’ll let you know if we do.

Or maybe you’ll see him on the news.

OK guys & gals not all graduates with Liberal Arts degrees are liberal. I have a BFA and an MFA I’ve been an artist (painter) for going on 40 years, and I am conservative. It is often like being deep dark black at a KKK convention, to be a conservative in the art world. It’s cost me a couple of teaching gigs. I’ve worked in construction and now have a small Waste business (yeah I’m a trashman) but by God I still paint. And yes it still ****** tons of my art ‘friends’ off. Especially since I use my real name in comments sections, and defend the Catholic Church, real conservatives, not RINO’s, not CINO’s. So give me a break on the Liberal Arts cracks.

This is the kind of mindset the OWS have….if we don’t give them what we all have worked for and done without to obtain, then they intend to take it from us with guns. How creative. Does this guy hold a degree where he can’t find a job like “historian”, arts, politics, etc. Maybe he should have spent his money on a community college and learned a trade like welding, water waste, or some title that he could receive employment. Most of the OWS are left over hippies (too much LSD in the 60-70″s) or younger college students who have never had to live in the “real” world. Betcha this guy lives at home with Mom and doesn’t work….has too much time on his hands. Of course, if he belonged to a tea party, the DOJ would already have arrested him. Geesh, it seems that the law only applies to opponents of the progressive liberals.

To your point, MOM, I agree. Occupiers used last year as the prelude for the upcoming big show ahead of this year’s election. While they have many, many fringe folks among the movement, the overall intent of the organizers is to cause chaos. The “call to arms” among this crowd is going to get ugly. Makes me sick to think of this type of serious threats is not only not being investigated but applauded by our country’s leaders. These are his people. This is his waterloo. He will rise or fall on it! They are in a catch 22, before they new what kind of people they were dealing with, they embraced the demonstrators and called them patriots.
Now that the objectives and motives have been exposed they are stuck with their choices.

I think the original plans for the OWS demonstration were made prior to the 2010 elections and things may have worked out differently but NObama lost the house and things fell apart. But now I don’t think they are intelligent enough to realize that the general public will not join this bunch of idiots in the street to try and destroy the country they fought and died for! NO! Back before WWII people used to say that Hitler was some inconsequential little nut. Don‘t write off the little nut’s of the world. Sometimes they pop up in the most unusual places and with our Justice department spending so much time watching the Tea Party people they just might miss another Gabby Gifford moment that actually told us what he was planning.

I wonder if Rickky can define exactly what economic injustice is? Rickky let me give you a clue, wealth is earned not distributed, there does that help you a tiny bit?

Occupy is spoiled college misfits who don’t have a clue to what life is really all about. Rickky as has been said before, get yourself marketable education, then a job, get married, buy a house with a mortgager, have a couple of kids and a car, then write your piece about economic injustice.

To put it simply, you and your ilk are not my responsibility, I have my own economic issues to deal with keeping my family going. Grow some and go out there and take care of yourself, stop waiting for someone else to take care of you.

I’ve really had enough of these creeps and their masters.

You said exactly what I was thinking!! You stated it very well! The OWS protesters are spoiled brat students whose parents are taking care of them, and professional malcontents and anarchists. Whoever the Republican nominee is had better make hay out of the fact the Obummer and the Democrats are backing the OWS movement. If there is any more violence perpetrated by the protesters it should be pointed out that they were supported by the Democrats.

Why don’t they do it? Show the entire world how stupid OWS really is. On a side note I finally saw the Occupy Tallahassee camp, it’s maybe twenty to thirty tents and a modified short bus. The funny thing is I didn’t see anyone in the camp, maybe they were at the capitol and left everything with no one to watch it. It’d be a great time to clear them out.

@GOAHEAD.MAKEMYDAY: Saw the hippy-dippy bus, saw the camp, saw the 30 tents, saw 2 or 3 people hanging around. They are either hanging out at a downtown hotel spending that old ACORN / SEIU money, taking showers, eating at the buffet, sleeping in the beds – or – there is a ten tents to one person ratio. That would be a “ virtual camp ”. Even in liberal Tallahassee, the armed rednecks far outnumber the occupy-commies; no uprising here.

So when they do we can throw them all away for at least twenty years, because you know fanatics with guns will always shoot them even if it’s into the ceiling. Actually, they would show up with pink, orange, purple, lime, and yellow squirt guns or water blasters, wearing their guy fawkes masks. LOL
Now, all they would need are black and white striped mime clothes and the image would be complete!
Hey, they could RECYCLE the black/white striped clothes after they are all thrown in jail for trespass, for vandalism, for public indecency, for indecent exposure, for disorderly conduct, for public drunkenness, for RAPE, for possible MURDER, and for lots of health code violations (like CRAPPING on police squad cars).

Now, I hope that it never comes to violence but it has happened one other time in the history of this country and if it does happen again it will be fought in the streets and in front of our homes not in some foreign country and I will protect my family, my friends and my property and this time it won’t be fought with muskets!

We all know violence is on the docket for spring, summer and fall, and especially at the GOP convention. We all remember the BMs providing security at polling places, the SEIU goons in New Orleans in ‘07, and Trumpka’s boys whenever head cracking is needed. Put all these gangs together with enthusiastic hippies with bottles, rocks, hammers and a little fire and there’ll be quite a circus. I wonder if obama will need to declare marshal law to quell the savage beast.

MR MOLOTOV COCKTAIL, Your parents let you back down in the basement I see. Apparently they bought you a dictionary, your spelling is showing improvement. As for the SWAG at the percentage of former military involved with the OWS, I’ll also take those odds. I still say that you’re making it up, but 30% of a disorganized foul and relatively small group is fine with me. How much of the population of this country on the other side of the coin is former military? Skip the percentage, a whole lot of us are former military. I am retired Army and all through my career I fired expert with all assigned weapons systems annually, and with the .45 then 9mm twice a year. When I was on the police department I was one of our top shots there as well. The types the OWS must attract and yes we have seen 2 former military in the national news involved with the OWS, but I can just see mostly the clerks and jerks and photographers like Al Gore at these events. Love that Vietnam pic of Al Gore leaning over the barrel of his loaded M16A1. Okay, I am assuming it was loaded, it did have a 20 round mag in the well. Good thing for him that he only spent something like 2 months in country. Anyway, even if they are well trained, there are more of us out here that are well trained and proficient, legal gun owners than there are with the OWS. So, take your created BS stats and stuff it.
