Occupy Violence: Cops Hurt by OWS Protesters at ‘Pro-White’ Rally in Sacramento

(AP/The Blaze)  SACRAMENTO, Calif. – At least two law enforcement officers were injured Monday during a clash with members of the Occupy movement who were at the state Capitol to counter a rally by a group protesting violence by blacks against whites in South Africa.

The clash erupted in the afternoon as California Highway Patrol and Sacramento police officers were escorting about 35 members of the South Africa Project to a parking garage following their protest outside the Capitol building.

About 50 members of Occupy Oakland began throwing cans and bottles at the South Africa group and at the officers. The Occupy members then clashed with the officers as people with the pro-whites group hurried into the parking garage.

“It was the activists across the street engaging the officers,” said CHP officer Sean Kennedy.

Two officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. CHP Capt. Andy Menard said one officer who was struck in the face by an object was released from the hospital. The second officer was getting X-rays after apprehending a person suspected of throwing objects, Menard said.

The CHP arrested three Occupy members on suspicion of disobeying an officer.

The violence abated after a large contingent of law enforcement arrived at the scene, about a block from the Capitol.

The clash followed a tense afternoon during which peace officers kept the two groups separated outside the Capitol.

Members of the South Africa Project were trying to draw attention to what they said is black-on-white violence in that country. Organizers said similar demonstrations were planned in other states and elsewhere in California.

The group was mostly male and white, some with shaved heads and prominent tattoos.

Many of the Occupy protesters, some wearing hoods or masks, said they came from the San Francisco Bay area to counter what they called a racist group affiliated with former Louisiana Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

Occupy protesters had been cursing at the South Africa Project rally and at officers keeping the two sides apart.

 

Ryan Stark, 26, who said he is part of Occupy Sacramento, said he joined the protesters challenging the South Africa Project protesters because there needed to be a showdown.

“I didn’t throw anything … but these sorts of demonstrations need to happen,” he said, referring to the counter protest. “They do have the right to say what they want, but we’re not going to let it fly.”

The public was being kept away from the scene of the confrontation by police officers, who were not commenting to reporters. The city’s light rail system was stopped through the section of downtown where the clash occurred, and commuters were not allowed to leave the area.

Earlier in the day, a 17-year-old girl with Occupy Oakland was taken to Juvenile Hall after she became combative and assaulted an officer who asked her to pick up litter, Kennedy said.

The South Africa Project bills itself as a “national campaign that will hopefully  set in motion a domino affect, that  if effective, will unleash an outcry from White voices around the world that will thunder the heavens and ring in the ears of honest, decent, caring individuals in and outside of the political spectrum from around the world. Which hopefully will shock the conscience, forging action, that will bring a stop to, the  ATROCITY of GENOCIDE of Whites in South Africa and around the world,” according to the group’s website.

      Lion, I would suspect that is the initial arrest (police in such situations may be wearing POV cameras, other charges may be determined after review or charges may even be dropped). In such chaotic scenes if a police officer suspects an individual they are arrested – it can be sorted out later. The goal is to remove those deemed unruly or disruptive before the situation becomes out of control. It is meant as a deterrent to those that might want to follow in such behavior.

      As far as the protest, to be fair, many organizations protest events overseas but usually they do it in front of the embassies of the offending nations. I don’t begrudge this group their right to protest and I also don’t begrudge the right to counter protest – it is the violence and the need to shut down the speech of the others that is offensive. It was the OWS protestors that were ready for confrontation and violence – they were the ones covering their faces so that they could not be identified.

      In this situation, I support neither side. The violence should end and the South African government needs to stand in and uphold the peace. Both sides are in the wrong. I work with a few South Africans and the problem is getting out of hand. Just go to You Tube and watch the videos. But no when whites stand up for their rights they are labeled racist.It’s a very sad situation going on there.So the OWS ignoramuses need to get a clue. Black on white crime is rampant there.     Over Christmas I meet distant relatives who live in So. Africa. Some of the stories they told of life their made my mouth open. I don’t know of the group protesting the daily murders of African people with white Skin color but from what I heard, a fitting punishment for these ocuppy idiots should be a one way ticket to So Africa, so they educate themselves before venturing an opinion.

    I met a South African girl when I was vacationing in Dublin last year.

    She told me about rampant violence of blacks toward whites in South Africa. She told me that it’s not safe for a woman to even venture into public alone, lest she be raped.

    They have enacted reparations for apartheid where white farmers have to just give up their land to blacks even though they have owned the land for generations.

    The worst part is that she said it’s very difficult for the whites to even flee the country because no other country will take them in as immigrants.

    The rest of the world pressured white South Africans to end their discrimination, now discriminates against them and leaves them to just fend for themselves against a black community that greatly outnumbers them, wants revenge, and is now empowered to exact that revenge.

    I feel for them. They should at least have a chance to get the hell out of there. Why can’t America take them in as refugees? We take all manner of refugees from far less dangerous situations around the world.

    It seems like racism to me.

      Guilt by Association is a fallacy in which a person rejects a claim simply because it is pointed out that people she dislikes accept the claim. This sort of “reasoning” has the following form:

      It is pointed out that people person A does not like accept claim P.
      Therefore P is false

      It is clear that sort of “reasoning” is fallacious. For example the following is obviously a case of poor “reasoning”: “You think that 1+1=2. But, Adolf Hitler, Charles Manson, Joseph Stalin, and Ted Bundy all believed that 1+1=2. So, you shouldn’t believe it.”

      The fallacy draws its power from the fact that people do not like to be associated with people they dislike. Hence, if it is shown that a person shares a belief with people he dislikes he might be influenced into rejecting that belief. In such cases the person will be rejecting the claim based on how he thinks or feels about the people who hold it and because he does not want to be associated with such people.

      Of course, the fact that someone does not want to be associated with people she dislikes does not justify the rejection of any claim. For example, most wicked and terrible people accept that the earth revolves around the sun and that lead is heavier than helium. No sane person would reject these claims simply because this would put them in the company of people they dislike (or even hate).

    I can see the point of those protesting against black on white crime against South Africans. Its pretty much been downhill since apartheid ended. It’s great that aparteid is over, but ever since black Africans have been on a violent tear all over Africa. They’ve pretty much committed genocide against their own people.Anyone remember Ruwanda 1994? I didn’t know there were still white farmers in Africa at all.Lord help them. And the Occupy punks aren’t going to let it fly? They’re real tough in a crowd, but one on one, not so brave I think. I could make more than a few twig boys cry, if I can take the stench that is.

    I notice that comment, too, Darmok and Achamelon. Odd, I thought that the following statement of “We’re not going to let it fly.” to be far more revealing. Suddenly this ragtag OWS crowd are the ones who feel THEY should be determining what the appropriate causes are.

    BTW, I heard an interesting interview with someone the other day during CPAC. The interviewee, whose first name was Ben, I think – stated something along the lines of, “I’m not part of the 1% or the 99%. I’m part of the 50% that pays taxes.” Me, too, Ben! Me, too!

      Please explain how David Duke and his ilk are the political right? Are you saying they’re more Libertarian than Ron Paul? Perhaps you mean they’re so “small government” that they’re anarchists?

      Perhaps they aren’t quite that far to the right…are you saying they’re Constitutionalists? I find that hard to believe.

      Nazis (the word is short for NATIONAL SOCIALISTS) are leftists. David Duke’s world view has more in common with Barrack “Let me be clear” Obama, than me or many of my friends here on TheBlaze.

      Please stop helping leftists conflate the political right with Nazism. Nazis, Socialists, Progressives, Communists – birds of a feather.

      UBETHECHANGE, don’t fall for that old trick that the NAZIs were/are a far right party/organization. Left and Right in politics is based on a graph that the original Greek democracy came up with. It represented larger government or totalitarianism as on the far left of the graph and less government to the right with no government or total anarchy as the far right. The National Socialist Party of Germany was a far left government. Hitler hated Communism since it was developed by Jews. College Professors, the media, and the left in general have been trying to paste the right with the atrocities of Nazi Germany when they were the same as Communist Russia, China, Cuba, and so forth. It takes a large totalitarian government. The perfect description of the left.

      Calm down. David Duke is not right wing, he is far right with far left sympathies. Birds of a feather do flock together. Agreed. Hitler was a lefty who used California lefty eugenics programs, he was an occultist who was put into God like status by Savitri Devi(lefty) the founder of hindu mysticism. A critic of the Abrahamic religions, Savitri Devi was a pioneering animal-rights activist who authored the book The Impeachment of Man in 1959 and was a proponent of Hinduism and Nazism, synthesizing the two, proclaiming Adolf Hitler to have been sent by Providence, much like an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. She believed Hitler was a sacrifice for humanity which would lead to the end of the Kali Yuga induced by who she felt were the powers of evil, the Jews.

      The Love of many waxes cold as Inequity abounds. I’m glad GB mentioned this very thing tonight on his show. Thats what this is all about. Now another group is the victim and pushes back against forces that have been beating them down. Its inevitable that this would happen but its already been said nearly 2000 years ago that it would happen. We are living in it and its worldwide not just regional anymore.

    2012 presidential candidate Ron Paul has proven to be a magnet for white supremacists. There was Don Black, leader of the white supremacist Stormfront group, with whom Ron Paul was photographed, smiling. There was Bill White, an “American Nazi” who says he witnessed meetings of Ron Paul with radical racists. Now, we’re learning about Edgar J. Steele, who was a lawyer for the [Aryan Nation], and remains a virulent antisemitic white supremacist himself.

    Edgar J. Steele’s individual support for Ron Paul – support that the Ron Paul presidential campaign never rejected is widely known. Edgar J. Steele didn’t just donate money to the Ron Paul campaign himself. He organized efforts to encourage others of like minds, large members of his white supremacist followers to donate to the Ron Paul campaign. There is a video from Edgar J. Steele encouraging other white supremacists to give money to the Ron Paul 2008 campaign. Steele was arrested for the attempted murder of his wife and mother in law. Steele was convicted of the crime and is now in prison. White Supremacist groups like Stormfront are gathering money to support efforts to get Steele out of prison. They assert that there was some kind of international Jewish conspiracy to frame Steele of the crime. Stormfront members are also organizing in support of Ron Paul 2012.
