Occupy Wall Street Protesters Greeted With Earliest Snow in 59 Years

Snow Hits Occupy Wall Street Protesters

New York City was hit with snow for the first time before Halloween since 1952, making life miserable for the already cranky Occupy Wall Street protesters. Central Park set a record for both the date and the month of October with 2.9 inches of snow, leaving demonstrators in Zuccotti Park drenched after the storm moved through the region. In an “Urgent” post on the Occupy Wall Street website, protesters called out for help from supporters willing to send gloves, long underwear, winter coats and other supplies to bailout demonstrators unprepared for the early snow. The post read:

“It’s been dumping snow here in NYC all day, high winds and 3 inches of slush on the ground. With theNYPD and FDNY confiscating six generators on Friday and this unprecedented October snow, those occupying Liberty Plaza in downtown NYC are in need of emergency supplies crucial for cold weather survival (and occupation).

We’ve made a lot of headway on getting winter gear here in the last 48 hrs but definitely need more. Please help by purchasing or donating supplies directly. Winter gear and other necessities can be dropped off in person, delivered, or shipped.”

CBS New York writes that protesters have been reportedly receiving winter weather survival tips from the homeless. Since their generators were confiscated Friday, protesters are waiting on stationary bike generators from Boston to have their media center and food service area fully powered and illuminated by Monday.

      What wasted time and energy. They collectively could have done humanity some real good by the following: Serving in a homeless shelter, passing out meals, cooking for the homeless, volunteering at a abused and battered womens shelter, passing out groceries to some unsuspecting passerby in need, donating their funds to a local charity, church, temple or synogue, helping to tutor a non-english speaking single mother IN English reading and writing, collecting trash alongside the roadways of America, wrapping packages for our troops overseas, selecting gifts for the needy, taking a low paying job to help our economy.

      This sure is different from the TP protests. They went home for goodness sakes when the Freedom Works busses who brought them came to take them back home. And besides, Freedom Works only paid for a light lunch, and they were hungry. And sure, FOX gave them positive coverage 24/7 but once FOX made it’s point, the TP were expendable. Sure they went home!

      Now, thanks to FOX and this website, the movement is getting 24/7 coverage. Why? Because the protestors are addressing the inequality in the US, something that doesn’t support the millionairs. The TP would happily pay more taxes, to the detriment of themselves and their children, so that the rich can become even more rich and the poor and middle class can become more poor.

      What is this OWS nonsence about government policies helping the average American?

      i was wondering if i could get my occupy the woods trip subsidized. i will only be there for a few days and i have most of the gear myself but could use a generator and some fire wood. i’ll even promise you wont have to see any signs or here chanting. you wont even be able to get a news crew to the location for me to be on tv, so you’ll never have to see me.

      They say that they think socialism is a better way…share the wealth…but the first thing they did when the homeless tried to share in their food they shut the kitchens down…what…I guess sharing the wealth only applies if they are the ones getting the goods…Lord knows they just proved that they sure don’t want to be the ones giving the goods…
      How horrible to stand before our Lord and try explain why I couldn’t be bother to share my food with a hungry homeless person…I was seeing alot to their side and was actually feeling a little pity for their plight till I heard that they closed the kitchens so the homeless couldn’t get their food…I hope the homeless takes all their food while they are fighting to free their sleeping bags from the frozen pavement…what a bunch of Selfish Immature Worthless Brats!!!

      There are a lot of REAL homeless people who would truly appreciate such kind donations, amazingly the OWS thugs are barring and banning homeless from Zucotti park which is an ironic turn of events – I thought this movement was about socialism/communism, so should’nt they equally be sharing everything with all… its amazing now they are barring people – that’s just like a “border fence – no open borders…” and what, will they issue some kind of badges to check people’s status? Well don‘t they say that is racist to check someone’s ID…

      Seems the OWS is learning that you can pretend to hate what makes America work, but in the end, in order for them to continue on, they will have to adopt and use the very things they claim they are against, this is what happens when fools lead fools.

    Lack of preparation on your part, does not constitute an emergency on our part. (the OccuWhiners should have taken warmer clothes and gloves with them when they left mommy and daddy’s house to go play “protestors”)

    They can always take the subway/bus/walk home to get their galoshes and gloves (and shower! please shower!!!) and then go back to the protests.

    these nogoodniks have raised almost a million dollars and they are STILL asking for donations of tents, blankets etc.. man what a bad joke.. sounds like the obama party to me.. they are insatiable..

      Can’t spend it on themselves, they promised to donate it to the crooked politicians who’re threatening the zucatti park foundation if they get thrown out for cleaning!
