Occupy Wall Street Spreads to...Tehran?

Iranian demonstrators gathered outside the Swiss embassy in Tehran Saturday, setting an Israeli flag on fire to show support for the ongoing Occupy Wall Street movement sweeping the U.S.

They carried signs that bore familiar slogans, including, “The end of Wall Street” and “We are the 99 percent.“ Chants included ”Death to capitalism“ and ”Death to U.S.”

“We have gathered here today to support those that have gathered for the Wall Street movement. We have come here in show of support,” one protester told Reuters.

Reports on the number of protesters in attendance varied, though Reuters put the number at several hundred.

According to the Tehran Times, the demonstrators, most of them students, delivered speeches where they said true democracy could only be established under the “banner” of religion.

The Swiss embassy represents U.S. interests in Iran, which cut off diplomatic relations in the country shortly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

      Amazingly there were continued protests and drum beating to hippie dancing yesterday.

      I thought about the protests as i floated on my lake in my bass boat taking in the surrounding beauty that God has provided me as a result of my hard work. Of course, I worked six days this week so Id have a little extra money and only got to see my woman for about 10 minutes as she headed off to work her second job.

      We could complain about so much, but that would be a waste of time. Complaining never paid a bill, bought a house on a lake, or a 1977 bass boat(hey its paid for and it floats!). while you laid in your own and other peoples feces, I was floating on the fruits of my labors thanking God for his continued blessings.

      Now thats the 53% experience! Get on board hippies.

      @BettyCrocker: Yes, they were speaking english in Tehran years ago when my relative lived there for several years with an American company teaching our trade secrets to whom have become our enemy.

      Personally, I am totally against anything Iran stands for and why are they picketing Occupy Wall street unless our Wall St. picketers are in bed with the real backers of the Occupy movement? Either way, it sounds bad news to me.

      @DB321, Yes, it does sound familiar. The Shah of Iran (even tho not that good a man) was overthrown around 1979 by the Ayatollah Khomeini. Under the Shah, it was westernized, women dressed like us, and Iran had a great economy. When Ayatollah took over, he turned Iran back into a primitive land, compared to the past, took all power from the women and restricted their dress. The current fool in office is extreme, wants all power over the world, apparently. I’m very worried what a mad man can do.

    When I first glanced the headline, my first thought was that in no way would this administration support just as they failed to support the previous uprising in Iran a little over a year ago. In fact, I thought that 0bama would indeed refer to it as illegal and stand up against it calling it a false occupation. Once I entered the story and saw the burning Israeli flags, along with the anti-American slogans, I immediately knew that I was wrong. Still, I wonder how the administration will react should the occupy dupes turn their anger again against Iran.

      Very good post. Great job summing up the principles of Tea Party. You need to post this in a lot of stories about the OWS slugs. It is all about the Communists, even though most groups have softened their name to hide their true philosophy. Your comparison says it all. But the Tea Party was demonized by the media and these guys are lauded. But as you pointed out, the MSM is one of the strongest promoters of Communist planks we have in America. I wonder what the tea party should do next, other than vote?

      1. The Tea Party is split. It’s no longer one deal. One is anti-war and the other is for war.
      2. I resent you placing Ron Paul in the category of liberal leftists. You don’t realize that Dr. Paul is the most-conservative presidential candidate for 2012? Do a little more homework.

      As far as Israel in all this. The global government supporters (first category, joined with the GOP) wants to wipe Israel off the map and unite the Middle East. Impossible goal as far as I’m concerned. The middle east won’t be united for another 100 years. It’s still living in the stone age, always has tribal wars, mob rule, always will.

      The GOP-backed candidates will promote globalization except for Ron Paul, who is “outside the system” That’s why both media, left and right block out his message. Ron Paul recently won the Ohio straw poll and I’m sure no one will hear of it if they depend on the tv for their information.

      To your first point. I was not aware that the Tea Party is split. Anti-War and War. Maybe in your neck of the woods but as everyone knows there isn’t a central control leadership controlling the Tea Party. Actually many view the Tea Party as an idea rather an organic organization. Anyway as to your initial claim. I can only speak to my understanding of this war.
      We didn’t start it. Islam has been waring against the world since the 7th century. We got involved around 1785 and have been ever since in one form or another. As to the current conflicts right War wrong battles. Islam will War with us until 3 things happen. We submit and all become Muslim, We pay the jiza tax as John Adams did (and we all know that failed) or we are killed by Muslims. As I‘ve said Islam will war with us by ignoring this fact just doesn’t make it go away and war is somehow swept under the bed and we all make believe it doesn’t exist.

      Part 2. Ron Paul….Before you resent anything you really need to understand the facts about Ron Paul followers. Now there are some civil level minded folks who believe in Paul the vast majority are a bunch of wacky crazed idiots.       At a campaign stop on Saturday in Winterset, one man asked Paul how terrorist groups would react if the U.S. removed its military presence in Middle Eastern nations, a move the candidate advocates.
      “Which enemy are you worried that will attack our national security?” Paul asked.
      “If you’re looking for specifics, I’m talking about Islam. Radical Islam,” the man answered.
      “I don’t see Islam as our enemy,” Paul said. “I see that motivation is occupation and those who hate us and would like to kill us, they are motivated by our invasion of their land, the support of their dictators that they hate.”

      Paul cited a University of Chicago professor, Robert Pape, whose research argues that most of the suicide terrorism in the past 30 years was caused by military occupation. Pape’s research, funded by the Defense Department, shows that suicide bombings in Afghanistan went up one third after the Obama administration surged 30,000 troops into the country.
      Not only is Pape wrong; he’s on the dole of Hamas-linked CAIR.

      Regarding 9/11, Paul said that attacks against the U.S. from Middle Eastern groups at home and abroad can be traced to the foreign presence of U.S. troops, as well as America’s relationships with dictator regimes.
      Paul referred to a military base in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, as a key motivator in the Sept. 11th attacks. Osama bin Laden viewed it as an American desecration of holy land.
      “After 9/11, (people said) ‘Oh yeah, it’s those very bad people who hate us,’ but 15 of (the hijackers) came from Saudi Arabia,” said Paul. “One of the reasons they attacked us, is we propped up this Sharia government and the fundamentalists hated us for it.”
      Paul is totally clueless. They attacked us because we were propping up a “Sharia government” and “the fundamentalists hated us for it”? Since when do Islamic “fundamentalists” disapprove of Sharia governments? They attacked us, according to Osama bin Laden, because, among other reasons, we were in his view “prevent[ing] our people from establishing the Islamic Shariah,” not propping up a Sharia state.

      hard for me to say this but i am so sick of hearing about Ron Paul.

      He’ll be a third party candidate again and will do his part to send this country into the dustbin of history. All on the libertarian train? Sorry paulies, we cannot afford another ron paul experiment. I love you guys and for the most part I agree with your stand on liberty, but wake the eff up!

      Ron Paul supporters span a wide spectrum, the core of that spectrum is distrust of the government. Liberals in large part trust government as do Neo-Cons. I agree with what others said about Paul being the most conservative candidate on the platform by far. Rush thinks he’s the most conservative, Coulter does and you should too (not because others do, but from a recognition). The only thing that doesn’t make him conservative? His fiscal plan, is not any type of slow and gradual change. His plan is a violent upheaval of all those unconstitutional parts of government shoved down our throats. I say violent not because there will be some armed action, just that ripping away all the bureaucratic parts of our society will be quite the shock to our system. I’m thinking of volunteering in the area for his campaign here this week and I have never, not once, wanted to do such a thing for any politician. He is change (positive, constitutional, reformative change) I believe in :P not that puppet hack currently in office.

      Ron Paul’s statements on 9/11 have always been consistent. The media distorted them to dismiss Dr. Paul’s candidacy.

      Here’s a 2 minute video that anyone can understand. He’ll probably use this on tv as an advertisement.

      I can’t find the video, but the CIA was testifying before Congress regarding 9/11. When pressed for the reasons — they cited the same reasons as Dr. Paul!

      VECHORIK, the concept is Blowback. The CIA definitely said 9/11 was part of some blowback, Paul had said the same thing multiple times and everyone thinks that Paul is somehow a kook for saying so? Uh Uh. The guy tells it like it is and has for decades.

      Thanks, yep “blowback” that’s the term the CIA and Ron Paul used. The media twisted it at the time to tie Dr. Paul in with those nut-jobs who believe 9/11 was plotted by the US! Many people (tv idiots) still believe that and I have seen people here post that Dr. Paul is a “9/11 truther” — so misguided — but I don’t blame the people as much as I blame the media.

    I believe that GOD HIMSELF is weeping over this, but HE is not surprised. I know HE wants us to be ready when “JESUS STEPS OUT on cloud to call HIS CHILDREN…The Bride in Christ shall rise to meet HIM in the air….”

    PRAY ON. Praying, loving GOD, others and ourselves, preparing our homes not so much for us, but for those who will be left behind are things we can do filled with joy that soon we will be going home. We must pray for those who do not or will not have the courage to accept JESUS as SAVIOR before we are taken from them. Some will come to know HIM after we are gone. They are the ones who truly need our prayers ahead for them on their behalf. We are leaving our Bibles well marked and out in the open to help whomever GOD directs to this sanctuary after we are gone.
