O’Donnell Opponent: From ‘Bearded Marxist’ to Harry Reid‘s ’Pet’

After a rousing win in Delaware’s Republican Senatorial primary, Christine O’Donnell is preparing to battle Chris Coons, a one-time county executive with an undergraduate degree in chemistry and political science and two graduate degrees from Yale.

But while Vice President Joe Biden called Coons “well educated” yesterday, that’s not the way Coons once described himself. What term did he use? “Bearded Marxist”

In the Amherst college student newspaper in 1985, Coons authored an article titled “The Making of a Bearded Marxist,” which explains his transformation from the founder of the Amherst College Republicans, to someone who realized his once-held “beliefs in the miracles of free enterprise and the boundless opportunities to be had in America were largely untrue.”

The change occurred after a trip to Kenya, where his website says he was studying at the University of Nairobi.

“[I]t is only too easy to return from Africa glad to be American and smugly thankful for our wealth and freedom,” Coons wrote of the experience. “Instead, Amherst had taught me to question, so in turn I questioned Amherst, and America.”

In the end, however, Politico notes that while Coons “had discovered the faults of his country, he had also ‘returned to loving America.’”

That’s a good thing, since Coons is adored by fellow Democrats, including Harry Reid. In an interview with The Hill yesterday, Reid admitted a fondness for Coons that goes beyond simple support: “I’m going to be very honest with you — Chris Coons, everybody knows him in the Democratic caucus. He’s my pet. He’s my favorite candidate.”

“I‘m glad he’s running. I just think the world of him. He’s my pet,” Reid repeated.

Coons isn’t the only politician to have a life-changing experience in Kenya. As Dinesh D’Souza points out in a recent Forbes article, Barack Obama returned from there a changed man too.

Just a question are you a military sniper, gun enthusiast, or NCIS show enthusiast? Thats not a very popular round to mention and it was on that show so I was just wondering the origin. Military snipers and equipment have always interested me, so I felt the urge to ask.

Coons brags on his webpage that he is a progressive. If ODonnell can contrast herself by promoting the idea of economic freedom and personal liberty vs Coons government based solutions. Delaware has elected conservatives in the past. Governor Pete Dupont comes to mind. He stressed financial integrity and market based job creation.

It makes me sick, a person who turned his back on capitalism and took up the lamp of communisum, is some how the right choice. I hope the democrats, republicans, and independents send a message from Delaware saying we are not going to allow the Constitution be thrown in the dust bin of history.

Where is the Media?? worried about a stand on masterbation? While a communist is allowed to shovel his BS, and is DIRECTLY tied to the Vice President and the Senate Majority leader. Too bad Fox doesn’t pick this up and run it like they did the Black Panthers in front of the polls. I just hope someone gets the word out.

OK Coons is an admitted marxist, right, he said it himself. Now here is the question. Should he win the election, God help Delaware, what oath of office will he need to swear to? The oath of office that we all know is swearing to uphold the U.S. constitution, as a marxist he can’t swear to that. As the socialists in office or running for office are now so boldly coming out of the woodwork, what oath if any will they have to take before taking office?

Seriously, does Harry just wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and say “What’s the stupidest thing I can say today?” Then he figures that out and finds a camera or a microphone. This guy is a joke, I can’t wait until they kick his can down the road. I think I’ll donate some more money to his opponent again just because.

Well he may be a darling of the democrat caucaus but I really don‘t think he’s that well know in Delaware. He‘s role as county executive doesn’t mean everyone knows his name and that’s only in 1 of 3 Delaware counties. I think he‘s more well known from the roadside signs when there’s an election coming and the name kind of rings out but not what how he has performed at his job.

I agree but Palin offered some advice the other night and said she will need to just have thick skin and not let it get to her like she did. The liberals all play from the same playbook-Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. That is all you need to know about liberals. They insult you, tell lies and do everything they can to minimize you. I see people on here all the time arguing w trolls and you are playing right into their strategy. Let it go and move on.

      heres a sample
The basic tactic in warfare against the Haves is a mass political jujitsu:the Have-nots do not rigidly oppose the Haves, but yield in such planned and skillful ways that the superior strength of the Haves become there own undoing. For example, since the Haves publicly pose as the custodians of responsibility, morality, law,and justice which are frequently strangers to each other),they can be constantly pushed to live up to there own book of morality and regulations. This is what that the great revolutionary, Paul of Tarsus, knew when he wrote to the Corinthians:” Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament not of the letter, but of the spirit;for the letter killeth”
