MSNBC’s O’Donnell to Steele: ‘Mr. Chairman, I Sincerely Apologize’

A comment made during a Tuesday evening broadcast has attracted some unhealthy attention to MSNBC’s newest prime time host, Lawrence O’Donnell. In scripted comments about RNC Chairman Michael Steele “dancing as fast as he can” for his “master, the Republican National Committee,” O’Donnell straddled the line of political correctness and needlessly characterized Steele, an African-American, as a kind of slave.
In response, Steele reportedly phoned O’Donnell Wednesday, demanding an apology, which he received as the MSNBC retracted his remarks Wednesday evening:
At this rate, MSNBC should keep the “I’m sorry” reel at arm’s length.

Posted on October 7, 2010 at 3:35amYou have to wonder if MSNBC‘s Lawrence O’Donnell was looking for publicity here. Noone would even have known who he was until this extended apology. He could have just apologized in private and left it at that. Or, maybe he said it purposely knowing that later he would be called to apologize. Who knows?
Hey, I don’t trust these news people on the alphabet channels anymore, and I’m certainly not watching them. I don’t care what they say. They could say they landed on Mars and I wouldn’t care. They could say they saw a green alien and I wouldn’t care. They could say that blue was green and I wouldn’t care. Got it?
The only reason I watch TV anymore is because Glenn Beck has a conversation with us every night and cares about us enough that he tells us the truth. Then we do our own research. If it wasn’t for Glenn Beck I would have turned my TV off after the last election and cancelled my cable.
Got it?
So, this is for you Mr. Lawrence O’Donnell. You pathetic nincompoop. If you cared you wouldn’t have said it in the first place and if I was Mr. Steele I would neither ask you for your apology nor accept it. Because a man who cared would never have said it to begin with. Your flowery and elaborate apologizing was a farce and you are a buffoon.
There’s never a day that goes by that someone is not apologizing for something. {big sigh}

Posted on October 7, 2010 at 7:28amAbsolutely!
His apology was completely HOLLOW when he used it as a spring board to go after Paladino. I almost fell for the sincerity of this apology but per usual, another PMSNBC punk uses every opportunity to lie and push the ‘bammy agenda.
Comcast needs industrial strength Draino to flush these crapheads down the toilet.

Unprofessional does not begin to describe the vitriolic bias this non-journalist exhibits. Then again that makes him a perfect fit for MSNBC where maybe only one or two people have read the Journalist’s Ceed.

Posted on October 7, 2010 at 1:14amSo, are we to keep in mind that any word construable to the topic of slavery is not to be used in conversation with African-Americans? I am not a racist, by any means, I am far from it. I’m particularly tolerant, in fact, of all cultural diversities…I cannot imagine the hardships endured by African-Americans between the times of enslavement and the Civil Rights movement, but to proclaim that the use of the word “master” is any longer a racist statement is somewhat absurd. Please, do not misconstrue this as a racist thought, I’m just wondering what everyone else thinks…

Report Post »Peters
Posted on October 7, 2010 at 8:25amLet’s not get too carried away and off in the wrong direction with this story . . .
First, when liberals operate, their actions are usually always dictated by some level of narcissism. Therefore, when liberals apologize, you have to understand what “apology” means to the narcissist; they do not ever, not ever apologize without a promise to themselves of getting something larger in return.
The apology is part of the art of the original insult . . . it’s like closing the door on the way out of a room or turning out the lights as you depart; it’s just something that you do; it’s akin to the notion of cleaning up your toys when you’re done playing. That’s really all that this is; he’s cleaning up his own mess, like a good boy. But you don‘t get invited into America’s living rooms to drop your drawers and leave a big steaming pile only to say I’m sorry and then leave . . . something is fundamentally wrong with that; but not to liberals, they do it all the time; it’s who they are. The apology is a simple formality and means nothing.
And actually doing it doesn’t at all mean that they agree with having to do it either. The apology isn’t filled with any sentiment or sorrow; there is no real feeling of “sorry.” If there was, this idiot wouldn’t have said what he said in the first place; he is after all a professional communicator; is he not? It’s fair to say that he said exactly what he meant to say, when he said it.
To beat liberalism back we have to come to understand these seemingly small things about it, and there’s many more. We have to come to realize that from the liberal’s perspective, getting insulted is Michael Steel’s fault, the Republican Party’s fault. He, we, ask for it because we are not liberal, we do not agree with liberals; as a result, we’re causing such intolerable delays in their getting all they desire as viewed through their arrested states of intellectual and emotional development. It is like dealing with large spoiled children that believe they are geniuses. They’ve simply figured out that the apology is a useful rhetorical tool.
Second, Steele is a huge problem for liberals. They want to cast the net of racism over the entire Republican Party as a whole. They can‘t do it with Steel where he’s at; they need him to go away as did Colin Powell, and in the same ways. What Steele effectively does is prevent liberals from fully developing and creating the image of racism they want to create for the right; although they always try.
However, if Steele were to be removed, or if he were to step down himself, the charges of racism would fly from every direction. Steel is like a cork in a bottle that’s ready to explode. There’s no winning here except to allow liberals to put themselves on display. If you give them enough time, they’ll hang themselves . . . contradictions work that way and is in part why liberals have perfected the apology and have given it such weight. The apology to narcissists, to liberals, is like hypocrites going to confession each week . . . it simply buys another week of sinning.
