Oh, SNAP: Did You Know the U.S. & Mexico Have a Food Stamp Program ‘Agreement’?

Did you know the United States Department of Agriculture and the Mexican government have teamed up to expand overall participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)?
You know what else? Apparently, this program has been around since 2004.
“USDA has an agreement with Mexico to promote American food assistance programs, including food stamps, among Mexican Americans, Mexican nationals and migrant communities in America,” the Daily Caller reports.
“USDA and the government of Mexico have entered into a partnership to help educate eligible Mexican nationals living in the United States about available nutrition assistance,” the USDA explains on its web page.
“Mexico will help disseminate this information through its embassy and network of approximately 50 consular offices.”
The DC report continues:
The partnership — which was signed by former USDA Secretary Ann M. Veneman and Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista in 2004 — sees to it that the Mexican Embassy and Mexican consulates in America provide USDA nutrition assistance program information to Mexican Americans, Mexican nationals working in America and migrant communities in America. The information is specifically focused on eligibility criteria and access.
The USDA argues that it wants to remove “enrollment obstacles” so that everyone can have the privilege on being on the assistance program and “increase access among potentially eligible populations by working with arms of the Mexican government in America.” Furthermore, the agency argues that the program is about “outreach” and “education.”
However, again, it’s important to remember that, according to the USDA, the program a) does not benefit illegal aliens and b) was created back in 2004.
“The partnership with the Mexican embassy was established in 2004,” a USDA spokesman wrote The Daily Caller in an email. “USDA does not perform outreach to immigrants that are undocumented, and therefore not eligible for SNAP.”
Still, the fact that very few people know anything about this expansion of SNAP has a few people raising questions.
“It’s a very disturbing policy, gone on for some years, and it raises very serious questions about American immigration policy as well as fiscal policy,” Sen. Jeff Session (R-AL) told the Daily Caller.
“Let’s get back to the fundamentals. What happened with the ‘96 welfare reform was to say that if want to you come to America you come legally, you assert you’re not coming for welfare benefits but you’re coming to work or otherwise be independent. There is no logic behind an immigration policy that would encourage immigrants who can’t successfully operate within this society,” he added.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 4:56amThat is exactly the mentality it promotes. Not citizenship, but why should anyone work to support themselves? EVERY SINGLE DAY I see people abuse the snap/ebt program. Does anyone care how much of OUR money is used to buy soda-candy-chips-cookies-ice cream-snacks for their friends???? Now that is money well spent in keeping people nutritionally healthy. AND HOW MANY OF THEM ASK ME FOR HELP IN USING THE CARD BECAUSE THEY DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!!!!!
The program should go back to the way it used to be run, depots that handed out basic items ONLY. Or better yet, abolish the corrupt program. The abuse is too abundant to ever fix it.

Report Post »The I-35 corridor runs from Laredo, TX clear up to Canada (Remember the bridge that collapsed in MN a few years ago??? Interesting ‘location.’) — CB radio Rambo chatter is still about this among American drivers who feel their livelihoods are either ‘on the rail’ or ‘outsourced’ to Canadian and Mexican drivers.
Another MAJOR transportation lane is I-40 which runs from Barstow, CA to the ports at Wilmington, NC —
Having spent 4 years living in the upper peninsula of MI, and having BEEN an international driver personally, I can tell you that there are MANY Canadian drivers who appear NOT to be ‘french-canadian,’ rather olive-skinned, full beards etc… – post nine one one, the ‘dress code’ immediately changed from what we identify with mideastern (’pull-starts’ is the driver lingo for the head gear) to more t-shirts and jeans – no headgear. – As a driver-trainer and director of safety, I trained MANY ‘green card’ (they actually have a PINK hue, and are not green) drivers from the Ukraine and India primarily. GOOD work ethics, but didn‘t get the idea of ’profiling’ til they woke me up at a port of entry or dot scale house. :-)

If President Obama’s half-aunt can get $700.00 a month for disabilty & live in government housing did anybody ask if she’s eligible?
“I don’t mind,’’ she said. “You can take that house. I can be on the streets with homeless people. I didn’t ask for it. They gave it to me. Ask your system. I didn’t create it or vote for it. Go and ask your system.’’

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 11:30pmHuman nature…I toss $100 bills on the street, people stop to pick them up. Committing a Federal crime by willfully violating and entering the United States of America requires immediate detention, and demanding that the consulate of the Mexican government immediately arrange the repatriation of it‘s citizen or the citizen’s repatriation to their country of origin. The governments of the United States of America as well as the Mexican government are both guilty of failure to perpetuate the agreement made between the two nations at the close of the Mexican-American war. That would be violation of treaties, and orders to cease hostilities by interpretation of international law, by both countries would no longer apply. Technically bullets can fly both ways. and have been coming over the border by cartel/and members of the Mexican military. The original charter provides the governor of Texas to address these incursions with the National guard troops available in Texas. Again people are throwing out money and there are those who will rush in to pick it up. Regardless of the laws broken in the street to get to it, human nature is not an excuse for violating a sovereign nations right to a secure border. Read the old dusty law books in U.S. libraries, amazing what the law says.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 9:27pmYes, I’m aware of this program since I sent it to The Blaze 3 days ago. The videos have been removed from the USDA website and the audio has also been removed.
Here’s what the USDA website says now;
**Planned System Outage – Tuesday July 17 to Monday July 23, 2012**
Please be advised that USDA eAuthentication will be undergoing system upgrades beginning Tuesday, July 17th at 8:00PM ET through Monday, July 23rd at 8:00AM ET.
During this time, you will not be able to register for a new USDA eAuthentication account.
This means you cannot start a new Online Store & Farmers’ Market Application for the duration of the service outage. You WILL be able to check on the status of an online application you previously submitted or continue working on a saved application.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions,

He was one of the worst freedom killing jerks of his time. Now we have Obama, another freedom killing jerk. As long as we play THEIR game, by THEIR rules, this insanity will NOT stop. Put ANY politician you think is right for the country on the ballot, and it WILL NOT matter if they’re a Republocrat or Demublican. If you the lesser of two evils, you’re still supporting evil! The game is to keep you stuck within their rules. Their game. Until you step outside of the box and arm up to restore America back to a point where money didn’t get people elected, voting for a politician who’s agenda resembles yours, but back to voting in a politician who wants the office to serve the country and their people in the light of freedom! But please, go ahead, play their games. Nothing will be better that way. NOTHING
