OH Town Says Group Can’t Celebrate Constitution in Town Square

The Andover Tea Party of Andover, OH had planned on celebrating Constitution Day, September 17, with a gathering at the town square. Not so fast, say the town trustees:
But on July 19, a trustee informed one of the tea party organizers, Margaret Slingluff, that they would not be allowed to hold the event, which would have included singers performing patriotic songs and public policy-related speakers, in the square. In an official letter dated Aug. 25, the trustee said the reason was “due to your group’s political affiliation.”
The trustees cited a local resolution that “prohibit[s] any for-profit advertising or political signs on the Andover Square.” According to the Party’s executive directer Maurice Thompson, “permission to use the square is made by the trustees on a case-by-case basis.”

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 11:45amI felt compelled to call the Andover Township trustees (obtained phone numbers from the Andover Village office), and was told by the wife of one of the trustees that the decision has been reversed, and that the gathering will be allowed.
When these violations of the First Amendment come up, Google the appropriate authority at the offending party, call them, and express solidarity with the citizen patriots being denied their rights.

Report Post »I’m on a street where five out of nine houses get gubment checks just for existing.
I get taxed for schools that turn out high school seniors that can’t read beyond a sixth grade level. I want a parking meter system for school taxes, I only want to pay for what they actually learn, not the wasted time just keeping them in the building.
The only reason anyone in this area would vote DEM come this fall is because there is no ability to reason and discern, and also, they are incredibly afraid of work.
(Love to stay and chat, but now I have to stop some teenagers from breaking glass bottles in the street.)

I know the Constitution limits the FEDERAL government, not local ‘trustees’ but this points out how important it is to vote for conservatives, they usually don’t want to control people.

Then, they should chat with one another, and discover, surprise, surprise, that they all have the same concerns–liberty and Constitutional governance.
What are the town fathers going to do? Arrest everyone? Let ‘em. Ghandi did it. MLK did it. Now it’s the turn of contemporary patriots to do it.

1. prohibited political speak in a tax-payer funded area, and,
2. gives arbitrary and capricious control over what constitutes political speak to our elected officials
We all must be more diligent in keeping up with our local, state and federal employees. While we’re not looking, they are robbing us blind AND taking away our ability to question their actions and motives.
